Thank you for your research and posting these helpful videos . CPAP has changed my life this last year . No more depression and I am alert . I am also losing weight and have more energy to exercise. It took months to get used to it but I never gave up because I know how important it is for me. I am now trying to convince my friends, family and my wife to get a sleep study

Great to hear! Keep spreading the word to help more of your friends and family. Remember that there are lots of great alternatives to CPAP if they're resistant.

As you keep lifting the inter-musclular fat will start to go away and lower blood sugar toward control ability, Cut out all oils. None at all.
    I perfer distilled water.
Increase protien and fiber from whole plants. I found boiling them works best. Seems they all get sweet. Odd right. Juice them too.
Chicken, beef during the initial training is advised. Also before you start a work out, take 5 medjool dates, take the seeds out, pour two cups of distilled water into a bullet blender, blend untill milky. Drink half before you get there, then other half while working out, now your getting 45 min work outs. Be advised, after these initial 20 sessions you will need to sleep right after the workout. Eat, drink water and sleep as fast as you can.

Nice to have found this channel! I have double surgery in mouth, mandibular device and other devices (also have c-pap that I use about 1-2 hours per night and then throw it of) . About 6 months ago I got surgery for deviated septum since one nostril always clogged and to raise my tolerance possible for c-pap, unfortunate it caused me rhinitis and eventhough they also burned some things in nose 3 months after that, I now have more trouble in my nose than before, since I wake up with runny nose and random sneeses.. do you have any pod or book that adresses this issue possible?

All sleep patients should remember these wise words by Park: "Start with conservative along with holistic lifestyle changes, then moving up gradually trying options with published and proven results". No healthcare professionals can know for sure what will work and what will not; therefore, it is suggested in the strongest possible terms to start with the options that can be reversed, and be intentional about what you're trying and how much it helps or does not. There is a significant difference between pursuing surgery once knowing conservative options do not work and pursuing surgery prematurely.

Hi Dr. Park, I live in Canada and have never had a good experience with doctors taking my UARS serious, after they see low AHI they just ignore my symptoms, I am a student and am willing to come to NY to pay out of pocket even though it will be very expensive, I can’t live like this and need to get treatment, do you recommend any doctors in NY? Thank you!

    Hey Doctor Park,
Any chance we could have a video on the lingual tonsils and whether they can push the epiglottis in towards the back of the throat?
Are there any treatments for it other than lingual tonsillectomy?

Thanks for the idea about doing a video on the lingual tonsils. It's something that's not addressed at all by doctors and on this platform. Give me some time to think about how to frame the video content.

What do you suggest as treatment for expiratory palate obstruction (palatal prolapse)? I am waiting for jaw surgery and cpap is not working well enough. I saw an ENT who had no answers, and my sleep doctor said he doesn't deal with the soft palate (which is absurd) and argued with me when I said cpap makes it worse. I just purchased a soft palate stent but if it doesn't work I don't have any other answers. Please help!!

Thanks for this information Dr Park! Been following you for a while now. I’ve been looking for CPAP alternatives since my first sleep study 13 years ago. The diagnosis then was moderate with half obstructive and half central apneas. I’ve had several more studies in the past 7 years and eventually got to the severe apnea diagnosis. I am now 63, female, small build normal weight and BMI and I’m convinced I developed this after menopause and possibly as a side effect of it from the research I have done. I did not ever have daytime sleepiness because of my apnea.
I started doing throat and tongue exercises to strengthen the tissues in hopes it would help. I should also point out I have a very large tongue-lol. Then I finally tried mouth taping and followed Patrick McKeown and James Nestor as well as noting that you mentioned it. It changed my life! I had another sleep study and with the mouth taping I went from 32 episodes per hour avg to 8! I still have some issues and I want to prevent damage to my brain and have just started on CPAP. Hopefully I will be ok as I age. I guess I should have dealt with it sooner. I eat as naturally as possible and strength train, cycle and am generally very active so I’m hoping my prognosis is reasonably good. Thank you again!

Dear ENT colleague, I'm reading your book ''Sleep Interrupted''. This is a great book, congratulations. But at the page 49 is not clear, in the two firts lines you said '' throat pain'' is mainly caused by reflux ( ok) and allergies (😢, wrong). I'm ENT allergist and the first things that you learn is that allergies and pain are not compatible (headache, throat pain, ear pain, etc...). Obvously the link can be far,-> allergies-> blocked nose-> mucus retention-> sinusitis-> maxilar pain or headache, but never direct... In throat pain this far link is never present. This paragraph can may the reader thing that you treat throat pain with anti-histaminics for exemple, and you know perfectly that is not work. Nevertheless allergies can cause painfull major dysphagia by Eosinophilic Esophagitis. Thank you, and keep going😊

Thanks for your feedback. I stated that any source of true post-nasal drip, whether from viral/bacterial infections, allergies, or non-allergic causes, can potentially lead to throat irritation directly and also indirectly by aggravating more mouth breathing, which narrows the space behind the tongue, leading to more subclinical apneas, which can lead to reflux and throat pain. You can also have referred throat pain from the ear (the reverse of referred ear pain). So I respectfully disagree with your statement that allergies and pain are incompatible. Hopefully, once you finish reading the book, you will change your mind on this issue.
