J.None was a full time member of VoicePlay, but he is active military. So he pops in and out when he has time or leave now. Great cover/rendition on this one. I have no idea how they are not as big as Pentatonix.
Pentatonix has (or at least had) a big label driving advertising and exposure/bookings for them. VoicePlay is independent.
They do not tour.

They are down a member. All their arrangements are for five voices. Quite obviously they aren’t touring now. Not currently touring is not the same as “do not tour”.
it's not as prominent in this arrangement, but Geoff's bass is holding the whole arrangement together in such a subtle yet important way.
Somewhere out there Crockett and Tubbs are smiling.
I love that moment at the end when Eli is singing rock, J Nun is singing R&B style, and Ceasar is singing pop all layered just killing it at the same time.
Also, the subtle heart beat pulse at the end as it winds down.
Geoff’s bass is insane
Try their Valhalla calling. J none is in that one too. He had been with Voice Play for awhile but then he went and joined the Navy! He is singing with a group or choral group while he ids putting in his hitch in the military. While he is on leave he rejoins Voice Play and sings with them. He has such a good voice I hope he can stay with Voice Play. They make some fantastic music.

J None was a member of Voiceplay from 2018 to 2021, until he was recruited by the US Navy to sing with them. He is 2 years into a 5 year hitch. He's been back 4 times while on leave to collaborate with them.
Geoff Castellucci, the bass, started doing solo work when Covid shut the world down. You should check him out. He does it all, arrangement, production, editing, first mix, as well as costume, set, and makeup decisions with his wife Kathy.
Usually you can see four or more Geoffs on screen. For his Sound of Silence, you can only hear them singing harmony.
Phil Collins and Miami Vice immediately come to mind. I love how Voiceplay will take a great classic and just spin it into something that becomes an homage to the original! They get better with each production they do now. They do have great featured artists but I love it when J None shows up. He has such a smooth voice. Thank you John, this was great!

Well, in this particular case, they had the opportunity to learn from the best! The live performance of In the Air by Phil Collins is the DEFINITION of building up tension in a song. VoicePlay is awesome.
This is a Layne arrangement, but Geoff's are just as outstanding. They both hav e fantatstic knowledge of what works and what sounds amazing. It's just one of the things that makes their videos so brilliant. VoicePlay don't get the attention they deserve. You don't know J.None? Wow, he was a full member of the group for some years until 2021 when he left to sing with the US navy and still comes back when on leave to sing with VP. He can be seen in many VP videos before then and since.
I love how they're taking a song that's pretty much known for that one drum fill.. and killing it... with human voices and some post production. Let's not kid ourselves... that original drum fill is what made this song, and they handled that wonderfully.
Did you not do Valhalla Calling and Metallicas Nothing Else matters? Because J. None was in both, and he was the absolute star of Valhalla. If you haven't done them then one of your patreons needs to get a request in STAT,
I went back to your site and found your reviews for both. I don't understand how you forgot J None in both, but then again keeping track of VP, HF and PTX with all their rotating killer guests and regulars could be a full time job....
Jay None was one who did the Rap in Valhalla Calling he was a member but in the Navy so he sings with when can. I love Jay Friends on the other side from Princess and The Frog. But All their songs make me smile. He was also in the Oogie Boogie song and This is Hallow. The Little Mermaid.

Oh, Lord. Did they nail this or what? J None was a member of VoicePlay until he was recruited by the US Navy for their chorus 2 yrs ago. The last song he did as a member was Man in the Mirror (Michael Jackson). At his goodbye party he said he'd be back and he came as soon as he was out of bootcamp. Took the lead in Friends on the Other Side and was superb. Did some shorts/minis and continues when he is here with those. Did Nothing Else Matters in VPs January offering. Was #1, now 1.5 since I've loved In The Air Tonight since before it was an iconic classic. It now is in #1 slot. J None also did Valhalla Calling just 3 days before his wedding.

I must be in the minority. While Phil Collins is a great artist and I liked the song, I really never connected with it until now. One of the things that VoicePlay does so well is to try to make their interpretation, both audio and visual, really reflect the lyrics of the song. I think the next time I hear the Phil Collins version I will hear it in a whole new way.
They did a great job with the 80s Miami Vice vibe complete with the glitchy VHS feel to it. Layne outdid himself. The percussion was outstanding and I loved that stomp sequence. It sets up the whole second half of the song.

This is one of those epic classic songs. Love this one. Nonpoint, In This Moment AND Corvyx also do epic covers of this one. (Corvyx is my fave). Great reaction! VP slayed this one!
This is 80s Miami Vice vibes. J. None dressed like Crockett. The glitchy VHS tape. J. None is a former member who left the group in 2021 to join the U.S. Navy and comes home on leave and does videos with the guys. He has three years left of service.
I still love Phil Collins version better but they did a great job with it.
