I love how it's so philisophical - "It's easy until it's not." Everything in life has a threshold were it goes from doable to a struggle. With a Backyard Ultra, you get to find that point and then be really close to the finish line so you see where you crack and not have a 20 mile death march to your car. Much more useful format to find yourself. And 100 miles in 24 hours is no joke for an average person. Perfect pace/time decision by Laz when he came up with this. And if you can only do 30 miles, then that's you right now and you found yourself. I Love it.

Great recap Sophie. I heard the podcast recap - well done on the 100km! I can't believe you did that after having a blister in the first 2 hours. Looking forward to hearing your plans and training for the April 2025 St Ives event because I'm locked in for the March 2025 I'm Still Standing event at Heffron Park Maroubra. Favourite running route is Coogee beach to Maroubra Beach

What a fabulously articulate and interesting recap. How wonderful to finish such a monster event and be excited to do another. Well done!

Around Stockton (north of Newcastle) awesome parks , beach runs and paths. Sometimes over the bridge to add a burn with best views in NSW 😁
Middle age just discovered longer running on top of my other exercise and quickly learning how addictive it is!
I love videos like yours.. great inspiration and realism with pure love for this 😁😁🤘🏿

I enjoyed your video Sophie. I was able to figure out from one of your shots that your pace in the ultra was just over 7 minutes per kilometre. Without that shot I would not have known how long a yard is. How long did you have to complete each yard? Thanks Phil

Thank you, Phil! Oh yeah I didn't explain the concept, oops! You have to do 6.7km every hour on the hour. So the event started at 8am - you complete 6.7km and have to be back at the start line for the next 6.7km at 9am, and so on. If it takes 50mins to complete 6.7km, you have 10mins to rest, eat and get ready for the next one :)

Amazing!!!I live in Kirrawee and love my long runs at the Royal National Park..an ultra is my dream, more specifically the 6 foot track but I’m not time qualified plus I do get intimidated by the distance as I usually hit the wall at 35km on a trail 😢 I’m training for the 45km Jabulani next year and maybe see if I can do 50km trail run by July..happy to have found your channel..not many ultra content in Sydney. All the best!

Oh wow, what a beautiful backyard! So many amazing trails there I'm keen to explore! 6 Foot Track would be amazing! Sounds like you'll be on the right track with Jabulani. You'll get past that 35k barrier soon, just take your time and enjoy the journey 😊😊
