I work in security and law enforcement and from my experience there is a major issue with the P20 series and similiar lights: You cannot carry them tip up on your belt because there is a very high chance the unprotected button will catch on your vest and turn the light on. This happened to me many times and it almost started a fire in the car as the light melted the bottom of my NPC30 holster. Second issue which is minor is with the included NL21 it is much too flimsy for any type of security or law enforcement work. Every arrest I've made I ended upp picking the light up from the ground afterwards in fact most of the time I take of my belt and throw in trunk of the car the light also fall off. The clip part is so bendy the little pastic piece is very likely to fall out aswell. It's a shame because the light is damn near perfect for my line of work. I've retired my p20 because of it.
I appreciate the information in some of these videos. This one actually clarified for me a lot more clearly the actual *better* use cases for certain lights. Coupled with some of my actual preferences it really helps me choose.
Excellent write-up,would love to find one that's ATEX approve for work in the chemical plant, especially when visibility is low at less then 4M due to smoke and dust in a confined space.
Hey MJ i am a 17 year old and fascinated by flashlights i think i got this from my father because he has something for flashlights that is why i wanted to start my collection but these lights are very expensivein india and hard to find them but all things aside i find your videos to the point and pretty good videos
Hi, I’m just starting a new job in night security at a local warehouse, I was wondering what sort of torch you’d recommend for this type of job, I will need it to work both inside the warehouse and outside. Thank you.
Hey MJ I am a young adult, just turned 18 a few weeks ago, and been into flashlights over the past year. The biggest problem that I encounter with the lights I have is that they don't have a very good beam distance, I've only been able to buy a resealed E4K and a MT21C, so if I'm gonna buy some other light in the future, it's gonna be one with a +350m range 🤞
hey im looking for an edc light, but i need it to double duty as an outdoor light, dont really care all that much about size, but it should have good aruntime, as an extra i prefer mixed beams
For use at the entrance and dependencies of the Condominium to P20ix due to its flooding, as the external areas and underground garage have small distances. For Home I would use the P20ix and for EDC the MH12SE, both with battery backup.
I'm not in the security industry but I do travel a lot be it solo, friends and family. Haven't come across a good torchlight to bring overseas to use. Therefore I'm looking for a handy torchlight like the MH12SE where I can bring it whenever I go and use it in places with low lighting.
Hi MJ. Love Your videos. Great help to choose proper light. Me and my team are ysing SRT7GT which is best light for our purpose (in the field/night ips) as well. Problem was charging batteries ! Tnx
I have the Nitecore P20ix and it's by far the best tactical torch out there. I'm looking forward to purchasing the new Nitecore P23i when it becomes Available. Team Nitecore.👍
I love my P20ix however; mine has a slight issue. Mine is set to the highest brightness when I first turn it on. When I try to step down in brightness, most of the time, the strobe turns on. The way to remedy this issue, I twist (loosen) the battery compartment then re-tighten it, then the brightness level will step down correctly. Do you know if yours has this same issue?
@@crxk20r59you had it in tactical mode, normal mode remembers the last brightness you had it set to, doesn’t resort to 4k each time. It’s an intentional feature so it can suit your needs (I personally keep on tactical for example). Cheers
Purchased first Nitecore from dealer at 2016 gun show(MH25) for 2200-0600 security shift. Best investment have made for that type of work. Have since purchased 3-4 different Nitecore models, all for various outdoor environs. Guess you could consider me Nitecore fanboy!-lol....XLNT products, Nitecore!
My team is a wildland fire hand crew. We use flashlights for many things such as strobe to signal helicopters in the daytime while in thick timber. Also in camp at night for eating dinner and unpacking our tent and sleeping gear. We also use headlamps while working at night. The main issues I have come across is an excessive amount of used AA batteries since we need to make sure we always have full bats to keep us going all night long. Im looking for a system to cut down on the amount of batteries we carry and throw away. While also making it easier to keep everything charged since we don’t have access to power outlets other than our trucks. And being able to keep our phones charged in the field would also be a plus.
I think the most common problem a flash light user often meet is the running time, cause we sometimes do not checking the battery really often so that I sometimes turn the light on but it's in a very low battery status. That is the problem I used to have
When we go on fishing trips we always have to check the coast before beaching. most often from a distance. that is a challenging process. thank you for the giveaway
The real problem is getting into the situation where your equipment is very capable in handling everything except the odd outlier. Nothing beats redundancy and having another unit that covers the cons of your current equipment.
I am a mobile security Officer, I purchased p20i as my workhorse and I am working nightshift. But after few months and during in the middle of my shift my p20i was shut down and wasn't working anymore for unknown reason It was malfunctioning . The battery was fully charged and even I changed the battery to a new one, my p20i still not working. Disappointing.
I work as a bouncer , and need my flashlight with me . Which one you recommand for me to get ? The p20iX or the p20i ? Cause at times we need to shine the light at the customer to bring them out or something i need a bright light to get their attentions . Please recommand me which one is good to get ! Thanks @nitecore
Our team deploys into rural areas to help support school infrastructure. Areas that have no WiFi, no electricity, and in some cases no running water. And pitch dark at night with the chance of a (literal) roaming tiger in the vicinity...
My first nitecore was a p12 (2015 version) and I fell in love with the utility of a mixed beam. I recently upgraded to the M25S because it has all the features I admire about the P12 (except the tail cap). However, having seen so many excellent reviews about the 4 LED p20iX I will try to acquire one for myself, the flood looks so powerful in close range situations.
I am a secret agent man. I need a flashlight that can shoot poison darts, any suggestions?... lol jk I just want a chance at winning a cool flashlight 🔦
I spend more money watching these videos. In my opinion, these lights beat everyone else's. The lights are made well and hold up after years of use. I've got the Fenix, the Olight and a few others. Nitecore is the one I EDC because they just work every time.
Post on reddit/flashlight and you'll see people show you lights that are way better than this. Obviously depends on your situation but if you're the classic american who thinks tactical and $50 overpriced because its a brand name is cool, then sure, they're great lights for what they are.
We need a light that has a long throw distance while Also having floodlight capabilities or search light characteristics and a 1 click switch to a lower setting for inside use so we don't have washout from light deflection from walls. All this and extended battery life to.
Can I find out more context around your team / scenario? Is it marine, construction or rescue type role? Inspection? If there’s concern on wall deflection.
I worked in construction industry most of my life. Most problem we encounter is that most flashlights are made to throw beam. In the past you have this Maglite flashlight. Its the perfect flashlight that have both flood and spotata twist. But its too bulky. Todays flashlight is either flood or spot. In a building for example ypu have every nooks and cranies and most flashlight are spotlight type where you have this hotspot in the middleand the surrounding spill beam are not so useful. Indoors bar lights are useful but they can be bulky because of their size. In the past even maglight brand of flashlight are only good because its the only flashlight that have floodand spot. But nowadays most flashlight are either too bright or too bulky even if they have great lumen output. Because you have to balance lumens output and runtime.
I love the in depth detail of these videos

You should look into the mh12Se with over 400+meters throw and 1800Lumens. I currently own one and it's incredible
Check newly released P23i 470m beam and 3000 Lumens

My team regularly setting and moving AV euipment in low light places, definitely need a proper flashlight for the job.
Do you have any lights to attach to a 9mm example a glock 17 or glock 19 ??
Great information again thankyou

SE means extended throw, the MH25S is already an extended throw light because of the larger reflector. So probably won’t apply to that line
