i would recomend painting the white foam edges of the individual sheets dark to prevent the odd white bit pieking out when the sheets are aligned on the board (i saw it on the gap of the moria chasm to the dice tray wooden panel side) - just that foam white always brings me out of the illusion a bit, maybe bc its so pure white that it screams over all the subtle paint even if its just a tiny visible bit
"Only nine tiles? You'll learn about the other seven later" Seven for the Dwarf Lords in their halls of Stone Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die One board for the Dark Lord on his Dark Throne, in the land of New Zealand where Middle Earth Lies.
Moria's close to my crafting heart because Balins Tomb's my first terrain I made, hadn't even done a rock or grassy hill yet 😅 Then the stairs/walkways of Dwarrowdelf was my first big terrain project and my 3rd ever piece of terrain 😂 It's awesome you're delving into the long dark of Moria, can't wait to see what you do with it. So far the modular board looks amazing!
O man this is so awesome! I love this combination of making epic terrain that can have lots of different layouts. Cannot wait for some battle reports on this epic boards!
Moria is an opportunity to have multi-tiered boards, especially in the mines. GW games often ignore verticality (unlike Necromunda), and it is a shame as tiered boards look amazing and are fun to play on.
Moria has always been my favourite part of all the films, so this board will be amazing to see in action. Gotta say though, your channel is more and more becoming one of my favourites. There's real substance to all your videos. 🤟😎🤟
I honestly think this is a great direction for the channel to go in. I would happily watch long videos on the individual "sets". It's small enough that I can take the advise and apply more readily than the mega builds (fun though they are). Making me genuinely tempted to do the same thing.
Moria my favorite place in middle earth full of the little green guys and best monsters in the game. I love the tile system especially the casam tiles ingenious design of gaming magic.
Honestly this live streams board project is one of your best I think. Of course your huge amazing builds are brilliant and really fun to watch, but this table is something really flexible and playable. I also think it is something more achievable that people could give a go, and would better meet the needs of someone who plays the game than building a very specialised board for each location. of corse I am still looking forward to you building specialised boards for every location in middle earth, but this board is looking great. your live stream return was really cool, and your set up is really coming together to make livestream games easy to set up with hopefully a more relaxed workflow than other battle reports that you might hopefully get to have fun playing regular games.
Absolutely loving the back to basics approach that has come with the move to Aotearoa. I’ll definitely be stealing the modular Dwarven Tile table idea… Also, I may have stood up and cheered when you mentioned Assault on Glamorgarth 😅.
9 tiles for the stone floors, doomed to be tread upon. 7 tiles for the chasm pieces, leading to caverns of stone. 3 tiles never to be built, and one board to hold them all. One board to contain them, and in many wargames, contain them.
This Moria setup might be the approach I take to a trench network for the Death Corp. I found my old micro machine bases and am gonna try to incorporate some of those, as they’re actually scaled surprisingly well for the troops and will add all kinds of cool details if I can get it right.
Technically Gandalf didn't fall into the chasm. He was pulled down. You are a crazy crazy man Lochy! If I had the ability to store a table like that I would definitely consider making something similar.
What a brilliant setup, makes a nice inspiration for a Bolt Action board or three I'd like to build as the year drags on. One thing that's got me super curious though...how do you store the tiles when they're not on the board? I'm struggling to find something that's both serviceable and reasonably compact, it's generally either one or the other.
I'm actually going to be mounting then to me walls as wall art when not in use so I have to work out some sort of mounting method, Velcro or magnets or something not sure yet!
@Zorpazorp magnets are the best thing, especially if you want scatter terrain board. I am a dnd player and LOTR player and with dnd it needs to be more modular than LOTR so having magnets dotted around enables you move the scatter terain to different locations constinantly having different layout and feel, on top of that it's harder for them to be nocked and fall over... (just thought you could do use the magnest for the wall for your desert board so that you can change up that wall to different layout?) Just an idea, love you idea for the board and storage idea!! Might have to borrow that idea!
ive gone for the tile system for D&D aswell, been using it for years and it is fantastic, easy to add urban tiles, water tiles and other themes and still have a visually stunning board
every one of your videos is a new challenge for me to supress the jealousy and just enjoy the crazy beautiful boards that i will never ever have the room for to do myself :D But seriously, hype is big on these
Are the tents hand made or 3d printed? Awesome work dude, I'm about to make my own board for a battle company's campaign but after watching this I can't decide what to make 🤣 The moria one looks awesome
Those gaming boards turned out fantastically well! Aand those printed dwarf buildings look amazing. Will you be looking to build a Tom Bombadil and Goldberry House in the Old Forest board ????
Looks really cool. Question i understand you've had your big move, congrats on that im a little envious. But when will we see a return of the mark of calth?
Jakey has designed most of his files to print without them with FDM printers :) These were done using his Ender 3's as my printing setup wasn't up and running at the time.

What should I build NEXT?
*cough* Gondolin *cough*
you can make casts for rock formation with crunched up aluminum foil, it's a trick nerdforge use often
How about some Star Wars legion stuff and/or horus heresy?
@@oliviertardif2479 Legion maybe 2% chance. Heresy hopefully much more likely, but some things need to line up for that to be financially viable.
I feel I am watching a highly productive descent into madness
This checks out
I love the idea of representing some lesser-known locales like Rhûn and Harad! Inspiring work like always!

I built Balins Tomb with my dad as a kid. Fun project. Everything was scratch built.

Me too!!!

Conpletely agree, dis you see the mulitlayered map in the start of the video?
The Osgiliath board? The first capital of Gondor? Where you made the Dome of Stars?
18:00 well now I know how to sneak dank nugs into a wargaming event - just stick a skewer through them an tell everyone theyre trees!
For the chasms, you should paint them with black 3.0. It's the blackest black paint in the world, and will make them look more like endless chasms
Oh yeahhhhj
Moria has always been my favourite part of all the films, so this board will be amazing to see in action.
Gotta say though, your channel is more and more becoming one of my favourites. There's real substance to all your videos. 🤟😎🤟
Ah thank you so much mate :) means a lot.
love this double sided board concept, and damn those Dwarven buildings are awesome and look so good with only a tiny bit of paint work.
I know right!! Such low effort for amazing results
Incredible!
Moria is THE best location in middle earth and there’s nobody better(or mad enough) to bring it to life
If I could double like this comment I would. Amen to this

Yes exactly aaaaaaaaall of this. Glad you're enjoying it all mate 😍
Man that it's truly awesome, it's great seeing achievable boards as well after so much of the mega board (which is awesome as well)
Seven tiles for the Dwarf Lords in their halls of stone.
Nine tiles for mortal Men doomed to die.
And the Three tiles, Lachie himself never touched.
Hahahahahaa

You could stick magnetic sheets on the board and some on the modular tiles so that they stick there and do not move... just an idea?

Bro those are all sick! Nice work!
It's amazing to see what you can accomplish with limited resources. Excellent work as always.
Tcheers Tommy!!!
"Black earl grey teas", nice 😄
You're living my childhood fantasy here mate!
I have a gaming coffee table underway, the modular terrain may just have to dictate my gaming surface size
Top work yet again! Looking so good! two vids in a week too!
Love watching this stuff!! Me and my best friend enjoyed so much lotr together.! He passed away at 28 years young RIP
With the Harad board you could probably even switch out the sand boards for water and create a Pelargir and with some different scatter pieces, Umbar
Indeed I could!!!!!
Fantastic dude love the creativity:)
This video better blow up soon, this is legendary!
Ah thanks mate
Planning on making then using those Moria tiles for combat patrol games in 40k 👌
Ooooh nice!
When your parents walk in at 18:00 minutes in and it not what it looks like.
Incredible once again! 🙌❤️
Bro, grab some vanta black on the chasms to create the abyss feel.
i love your work , inspirational
Amazing work. Super underrated channel
Ah thank you mate :)

love your terrain, your trees let it down
How in the world did your friend at 1:06 in the video become a Milwaukee Brewers fan? This is the most random place to see that logo pop up haha.
Marcy loves em haha
Dude your such a hard worker. Keep it up.
Thank you mate :)
All has turned to vain ambition! Madness! However good work
Hahahahaha yes indeed
Looking forwards to the livestreams!
The thing is LoTR really isn’t my thing but I just love this channel cause of the passion for LoTR
Terrain - 10/10!
BTW Starting February 24, 2022, the ZZ logo looks very funny. 😅😅
Yeah funnily enough we had a logo change on the 25th of Feb, 2022. I was just wearing some old merch I don't usually put on camera.
Firstly, very nice double sided board, secondly, for your helms deep board would you need a lot of miniatures like for minas tirith?
Are the tents hand made or 3d printed? Awesome work dude, I'm about to make my own board for a battle company's campaign but after watching this I can't decide what to make 🤣 The moria one looks awesome
Those are just injecrion moulded plastic... I think call Renedra? Brand

Looking so epic man. How are you finding buying suppiles compared to Au price and availiblity wise ??
Expensive haha, timber is bloody mental.
Yessssss. Moria is going to be epic!
Good choice on the black earl grey tea
Right??????
@@Zorpazorp indeed only way to go lol
So good!
looks nice ,thx for next amazing video👍
You should use black 3.0 on the chasms.
❤ yes! 🎉🎉🎉
Looks really cool.
Question i understand you've had your big move, congrats on that im a little envious.
But when will we see a return of the mark of calth?
Amazing stuff :o
Please paint the edges of your vinyl pieces black so they blend in when the ravine hits them ❤
Amazing work
Hahaha yeah that triggered me too, will do it next week

How does your 3-D printer not need support?

Nice board(s). Hope your finger is healing well.
"today im attempting something truly mental.." - i mean, yoz can just skip that intro, thats a given mate :D
Fair hahaha
I've often thought of getting a 3D printer, but I really don't think I could cope with the layer lines. Bad for the OCD.
✨✨
So fucking cool
Lachlan, you are the man of my dreams. I love you. Why will you not acknowledge this in our Mournival chat
Hahahaha I'm DONE with your advances. AND Y won't you see we can never be together? MCP would tear us apart.
@@Zorpazorp One day you will do a video. I will fly over there and force this.
POV: When you are more hyped after Zorpazorp announcements than after GW announcements… 🙄😅
Hahahahahahahahaha
wow
I made it early for a change! Love your stuff!

Seconded
Comments for the algodrithm!
what about cutting the skin off, via foam cutter then try foil
Yeah that would be the way, but I don't have my hot wire cutter and that won't work for bigger paneks
