I never thought I would find anyone other than me that like Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy. I love the book, movie and TV-series, but the movie is a favourite of mine.
I'd pitch Redford's *Three Days of the Condor* (1975) into the mix, too, as the prototype of the on-the-run spy thriller. There are a lot of con artist and organized crime movies which qualify as tradecraft, too, like *The Departed* (2006) and *Ronin* (1998).
Thanks for doing this review! I lost count on how many times I have watched this movie. Musical score is fantastic, especially after the rescue and they are flying back and when ‘Tom’ realizes it was ‘Nathan’ that got him and his woman out. Very underrated movie.

Good one, Madison! Love this movie. Robert & Brad were really good together, weren't they? You should add Legends Of The Fall to you Brad Pitt movie list. I think you will enjoy that one. It's not a western, but it is set in Montana during WWI, and it also has Anthony Hopkins in it. Thanks for sharing this one! 🙂

Madison, Have you seen, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? It is a Western starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. Another favorite Robert Redford movie is Jeremiah Johnson. He’s a mountain man. I think you’d really like either of these movies a lot.
I wanted to add to your observations regarding Nathan. Nathan was a patriot and had unshakeable loyalty to the people that were important to him. This was demonstrated in his interactions with Gladys and as a result of that relationship, she would do anything for him. Also, with Harry, his CIA counterpart in London. Brad Pitt films and some of the great directors he has worked with: Thelma and Louise - Ridley Scott True Romance - Tony Scott (same as Spy Game) Seven - David Fincher Twelve Monkeys - Terry Gilliam Fight Club - David Fincher Snatch - Guy Ritchie Oceans Eleven & Twelve & Thirteen - Steven Soderbergh Curious Case of Benjamin Button - David Fincher Inglorious Bastards - Quentin Tarantino Tree of Life - Terrance Malick Moneyball - Bennett Miller The Big Short - Adam McKay Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - Quentin Tarantino That is a curated list so he has so many more good movies but he always works with the best directors and has always fought the Hollywood stereotype of a movie hunk. He is one of the best actors in modern Hollywood and he is so good looking, it’s really not fair. As far as gems to recommend, I think a film that really fits your vibe is Days of Heaven by Terrance Malick. It is from 1978 so I don’t think it would be a good channel pick because not many people have seen it, but I really think you would love it.
Great movie, Tony Scott was such an incredible director. GI Jane w/Demi Moore, Viggo Mortensen & so many others, & Enemy of the State (ahead of its time) w/Gene Hackman & Will Smith. All have a similar energy, story telling style, editing, keep the story moving, just everything.
THANKS for this selection, Madison. There are SOOO many flicks at this level that just go unnoticed. SO many. I'll just leave it at that, lol, considering after four-plus years of watching reaction channels and it's only now(!) that someone gets around to a beauty that isn't even on the list of stuff I've already got tired of suggesting, lol. Anyhoo... as for some Brad/Redford suggestions... a lot of people have suggested Argo (and rightfully so). Argo, when being made, sought to recreate the cinematography of All The President's Men (1976). That is one I suggest, with Redford and Dustin Hoffman. Truth and tension done so well. As for Brad, I usually go with Moneyball, but I think David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) would be nice change. Both selections are made because NO ONE has got around to them. I mean, the other day I freaked out because I found out Cinema Paradiso, The Commitments, Four Weddings and A Funeral, Day of the Jackal had finally been viewed by some people on their channel...!
Welcome to Tony Scott, Ridley Scott's younger brother. His directorial energy is insane. His movie before this, Enemy of the State is another spy thriller with Will Smith and Gene Hackman. He also directed a small movie called Top Gun....
Two of my top 5 movies of all time have Redford in them! Spy Games and The Natural. Another amazing Spy Movie with top notch acting is “Body of Lies” with Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe!! 👍🏽 Great reaction!
Not a bad choice kinda similar to the other Pitt with Pacino spies. But Pitt has done s... since killing Them Softly and was always off on overatted? Watch it later...
If you are interested in other prison films, I'd suggest "Brubaker" (1980, again with Robert Redford and other well-known actors, sort of "Shawshank Redemption"); and "Midnight Express" (1978), Oliver Stone won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. Both had Oscar Awards nominations.
This was part of what some call the LA corruption trilogy. All 3 are loosely based on actual events. Starts with, "Chinatown" Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway, then LA Confidential, followed by "Training Day with Denzel.
The best spy movie ever made. Underrated. More like this ; Copland - Stallone in an acting role from James (Logan) Mangold with De Nero, Harvey Kietel, Ray Liotta (Goodfellas) and John (West Wing) Spencer. LA Confidential - 50s cops thriller with a new to the scene Guy Pearce and Russel Crowe, and Kevin Spacey during his epic 90s run of bangers.
Obviously Brad Pitt’s most iconic film is Fight Club. It’s extremely intense and electrifying. It’s also like nothing you’ve ever seen before. If you ever want your mind blown , this is the film. I actually don’t know if you would like it or not. I’m sure you would never forget it. Thanks for all your nuanced reactions. I’m a fan.
The bombed building was only done because Robert Redford’s character, Nathan, couldn’t take the chance the head bad guy would get away if the Doctor didn’t make it.
Lots of fun watching Nathan outsmart 'em all wasn't it? You can bet they never saw him again, for sure he an "out" planned as soon as he decided to save Tom . Another great movie with Pitt is the sci-fi thriller, "12 Monkeys" My favorite Redford film is " The Electric Horseman"...funny and charming rom-com, Co -starring Jane Fonda and Willie Nelson. And yeah, I couldn't be a spy either, it's too hard to be lying to people you're gonna get killed.
This film was epic on the big screen, empty theater, last showing on a school night. For a sentimental mind-bender with Brad Pitt, try MEET JOE BLACK (1998).
This is a lot closer to what a spy is than anything James Bond has ever been because James Bond is like eight people and one and it's utterly impossible so watching this provides a story that is much closer to the truth.
Another movie with Redford (and a HUGE excellent cast) that has a spy "feel" to it, but is much more lighthearted than this is Sneakers. Great movie, and definitely worth checking out some time.
You can see the first movie in which Brad Pitt appears, which was in Thelma and Louise, a movie that has been famous at the time and that gave to talk, but at a time when feminism and empowerment was not fashionable, and it is a movie that broke schemes in that sense. Directed by Ridley Scott, Tony Scott's brother.
There have been a lot of great recommendations for Brad Pitt movies and I will add one more with Meet Joe Black -- a really beautiful, epic, sad and yet ultimately uplifting film.
Truly a masterpiece. Most people whine that its too long and slow pased but for me length has never been promblem... time just flyis by while watching that. And I have watched that movie four times so far abd it never got bored 🙂👍
I luv this movie.! Excellent reaction! Spy movies are great at suspense and cleverness and Spy Game gives you both! Of coarse having Pitt and Redford helps too! Love the imagery switcharoo and just the whole spy trade craft! Just to suggest another clever and suspenseful spy movie i think you'd like ARGO! With Ben Affleck. Sneakers with Redford is also a good one. Thanks for sharing! ❤️💛
For Brad Pitt movies, I think you'd really like Legends of the Fall; Fight Club and Meet Joe Black are outstanding and Mr and Mrs Smith is a lot of fun. Redford has such a big catalog but the Natural might be my favorite; Sneakers is one that often gets forgotten about. And of course the Sting and Butch Cassidy (both with Paul Newman). Truly I don't know if he's ever really had a flop..
This movie is SO good. Haven’t seen anyone else react to it yet. I never considered myself a Brad Pitt fan, but as time went on, I realized a LOT of my favorite movies had Brad Pitt in them. 🤷🏻♂️
Spy movies? You'd love The Russia House (1990) with Sean Connery, Michelle Pfeiffer and Roy Scheider (Jaws). Connery's character is a book publisher, and a lovable crank.
So - tippy top of the list for Brad Pitt is his other movie with Redford - A River Runs Through It. After that I'd say True Romance. He's not a lead but its an amazing movie all around with so many brilliant cameos, including his, that it needs to be seen. Then I'd go with either Seven or 12 Monkeys; I's say Seven edges out 12 Monkeys because he is one of 2 leads with Morgan Freeman, where he is supporting Bruce Willis in 12 Monkeys. His role in Snatch is iconic as well, and since you are a Westerns girl, you'll love Legends of the Fall where he is every bit the 90s heartthrob.
oki theres a robert redford movie called "tell them willie boy is here" its dark..its underrated ..its pretty much a western ..but its good brad pitt "meet joe black"
Fantastic movie, got to love the soundtrack 🥰👍 Brad Pitt, fantastic actor... my favorites of his movies are drama (with Anthony Hopkins and Claire Forlani) Meet Joe Black (1998) and fun roadtrip adventure (with Julia Roberts and James Gandolfini) Mexican (2001) 🎉 you like westerns so the second one might be better choice for you.
Great reaction and edit Maddy! It doesn't get nearly any recognition for reactions, but it deserves better. Brad Pitt and Robert Redford? C'mon now peeps.
Brad: first that comes to my mind is always "Burn after reading" (♥️) in which he's amazing, then two widely acclaimed and not my favourites "Meet Joe Black" and "Legends of the fall". The next 3 that I really like and which give him an opportunity to shine are "Seven" "12 monkeys" and "Fury". There are also two enjoyable lighter movies "Mr and Mrs Smith" and a recent "Lost city" in which Bullock and Tatum are the stars but Pitt and especially Radcliffe steal the show (Daniel gives a masterclass, in my opinion). There are also "Ocean's..." which are fun to watch but if you had Depp, Norton, Cusack, or maybe even Affleck or a Baldwin instead of Pitt in the role, nothing much would change. I think that Pitt does a great job in each of his movies. I'm purposefully not mentioning a certain film that I don't like but I'm sure will be mentioned as first choice by most.
My favorite spy movie is The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. It's from the greatest of the spy novelists John Le Carre. It stars Richard Burton. A very realistic portrayal of spies and spy craft during the Cold War. The finest dramatic series dealing with Cold War spy hunting is Le Carre's Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy starring Alec Guinness. Do not watch the awful 2000s remake movie version.
Underrated movie
Such an underated film. Another underated movie with Robert Redford that also stars Morgan Freeman is "An Unfinished Life."
You need to start a cult where you can worship the word “underrated” since you love it so much

Clever!!
Definitely. great cast .
Sneakers is definitely a great movie and the cast is even better.
TOO MANY SECRETS
This is my favorite spy movie. This and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Both seem like great examples trickery and deduction.
I never thought I would find anyone other than me that like Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy. I love the book, movie and TV-series, but the movie is a favourite of mine.
I'll put in a word for two classic thrillers with espionage undercurrents: The Day of the Jackal (1973) and The Manchurian Candidate (1962).
The original Get Carter with Michael Caine
Madison has done an excellent reaction to Condor.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy with Gary Oldman and that Sherlock guy what's his name. Whatever, pretty good spy movie.
@@crincon Benedict Cumberbatch.... the movie can't hold a candle to the BBC series made in the 70s, with Alec Guinness.
Robert Redford … Jeremiah Johnson … The Sting … Three Days of the Condor … All the President’s Men … Brubaker … The Electric Horseman.
And... The Candidate... The Natural... Sneakers... A Bridge Too Far

Personally I find Spy Game to a so-so movie but it has an extremely satisfying ending.
You need to react to the spaghetti westerns trilogy with Clint Eastwood watch fist full of dollar’s fist.
oki theres a robert redford movie called "tell them willie boy is here" its dark..its underrated ..its pretty much a western ..but its good brad pitt "meet joe black"
Two great Brad Pitt movies “Legends of the Fall” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”
Fantastic movie, got to love the soundtrack 🥰👍
Brad Pitt, fantastic actor... my favorites of his movies are drama (with Anthony Hopkins and Claire Forlani) Meet Joe Black (1998) and fun roadtrip adventure (with Julia Roberts and James Gandolfini) Mexican (2001) 🎉 you like westerns so the second one might be better choice for you.
Great reaction and edit Maddy! It doesn't get nearly any recognition for reactions, but it deserves better. Brad Pitt and Robert Redford? C'mon now peeps.
I love this movie!
Cool reaction as always Madison, you take care and have a nice day sweetie 🥰❤️
Fantastic selection. Not many people do this film, and lots of reactors all follow each other on whats the 'hot' film to watch. Good job.
I've always liked this.
Interview with a Vampire
My favorite spy movie is The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. It's from the greatest of the spy novelists John Le Carre. It stars Richard Burton. A very realistic portrayal of spies and spy craft during the Cold War. The finest dramatic series dealing with Cold War spy hunting is Le Carre's Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy starring Alec Guinness. Do not watch the awful 2000s remake movie version.
