Now you can install non steam games a few ways on the steam deck but i found this way very simple and not much can go wrong.

Sd card command : STEAM_COMPAT_MOUNTS=" YOUR PATH HERE " %command%
Make sure where it says YOUR PATH HERE you in pact copy and paste your sd card path. - Ігри

Thanks for the guide, some setups cause problems on Steam, I found the solution as follows, I installed the game I was going to install on the window, copied the installed game to USB and copied it to Steamdeck, added the exe to steam and managed to run it that way.
I wonder if there is a way to use bottles to install it and then copy over the games files from there. I am having issues with some games. It goes through the install but then it doesn’t seem to save the install anywhere on the steam deck file system

Great video. I been quite successful getting most pc games to work (GTA IV, Hitman, etc...) but was having trouble with Nier Automata repacked. Seen my errors first 5 minutes, can't wait to try your method tonight!

Did you get it to work? iirc Automata ran like ass on PC in general without a fix. I know I had a bad experience with hardware that was well beyond the recommended specs
@@EvidenceFragmentary i totally forgot about this 😑. I got sidetracked and started tinkering with Model 3 emulation, Kotor on Yuzu, etc...etc... short version: YES it launched! I followed Aliens method but with a .iso mounted.
Long version: never played or heard of this game ever before watching various UA-cam list covering the game and I was interested. But im coming from being a regular console gamer, I don't know the level of what is trash to you, also never even dawned on me to look past the menu screen to see if it even ran til just now. But I fired it up just now and it was pretty sweet, my spaceship turned into a mech, and that blew me away! So give it a shot and maybe you'll know how to set it to your liking (and share them tips in case im running garbage)

Subscribed and success!!! I couldn't find that critical file setup.exe in my repack. Was weird because it launches on PC and the Steam OS recognize it but still required purchase... but I kept getting ERROR 1 launching the game. So after researching more, I found my .iso copy, mounted it and found that setup.exe file i needed to complete your method. And it worked flawlessly 👌
I need a huge favor, I searched your channel , do you have a tutorial to setup Xenia on Steam Deck? No one has a real tutorial uploaded on getting this running, just a bunch of showcase videos 🙏🙏

Your steps still works for me. Steam needs a better approach, installing games like this is very sloppy. A keyboard is needed for sure. The onboard keyboard will cover the typing area.
This is not how you would install a game that you bought. This is piracy stuff, you either put up or shut up and buy the game from the steam store so that you dont have to do all of this.

1:30 actually their is a software out there that can create a FAT32 partition larger than 4 GB with some sort of software trickery. I can’t remember the name of the app, but I did use it in the past to format a 256GB SD card for a console I homebrewed. It was either the 3DS, DSi, or the Wii.

Hello I have a question, i installed some exe game files on my sd card. Everytime i try to launch the game i get Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime coming up.i did install visual c++ and i put the directory in the Steam game properties but it won work. Any sugestión ?

Does this work with repacks of emulated games? I attempted it and didn't have any luck.
Any fix for the game will run at first but a couple hours later it will just crash and the properties folders will have the target completely changed
Thanks for the guide. I have been trying to install Transformers: War For Cybertron on the Deck and it just won’t launch. I’ve tried to install using your method, installation via Lutris and the old drag and drop existing install (Steam and PC builds) and no dice.
Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I have the WFC games on PS3 but love handheld gaming too much.

try other versions of patreon when you get to the part force compatibility layer and keep trying till you find one that works but failing that not all games will run on the deck.

So im trying out this method for elden ring using fitgirl, managed to get to the point to setup but it seems to be stuck unpacking, not even past 0.1%, not sure of the reason why unless anyone else here knows?
i was able to install god of war with this method from fitgirl repack
but now i cannot install batman arkham knight.
error shows checkransum error
i tried installing dbz kakarot with fitgirl
error shows insufficient ram/internal storage which doesnt make sense

Is the repack file on desktop should be deleted after installation?
Hi. is there any downside to installing the repack on a Windows PC then just copying the installed folder with the .exe file over to the Steam Deck?
you can do that and i have seen loads of videos with people doing it and i can't see any downside to it.

Question: How to uninstall? I know I can just remove non steam game, but it will not remove the files in the micro sd games folder. Maybe I'll just delete it? Thank you

i tried this with a steamunloacked game and got "no lisence" when trying to launch the game
So I followed the instructions here but every time I turn on my steamdeck the repack installed apps don't work in steam and I have to add the .exe to steam again and that wipes all the saves in the game . Anyone else having this issue?

Great video. What happens if you only have 64gb Steam Deck? There wouldn't be enough room to drag it to the desktop would there?
Buy a new ssd or sd card
you will have to install the game on pc instead of the steam deck, after that transfer the game folder to your steam deck

I keep getting stuck at 0.2% with fitgirl repack. If i install straight through wine it exits the install on its own around 25%.

I have several games working this way. A few working that I tried are Wild West, Gotham Knight, Ready or Not, Deep Space 2, Battlefield Hardline, Ao Tennis 2 and PGA 2K21 to name a few
