Grandpa Hickory, you're very blessed and fortunate to have a Daddy like that! Our dad was too drunk and hateful to try to teach us anything. And resented us and let us know on a daily basis. I used to fantasize that either Beaver's dad or My Three Son's dad was our dad. Lol. I'm fairly certain that the adage- if it doesn't kill you,it'll make you stronger is accurate.
@@teresaarnold6605 bless you,the father of my boys was just like yours,I have taught my boys how to use power tools, axes,to make fire ect they taught themselves how to fish and how to shoot (air rifles as we are uk) they have great life skills now and I am so very proud of my boys
Great lessons. I grew up in Florida in the 60's and we had rattlesnakes there as well. I never had a clue that you were calling them upon you when you shake a rattle. We had a rattle after my Dad had to kill a rattlesnake that had gotten in our house. Thank God I didn't ever get a hold of it and played with it outside. I did once have a Water Moccasin swim right over my feet as I was standing in shallow water after I'd caught some minnows to feed my little pet wild water turtle. God was looking out for me that day. I was standing still and looking at some new construction being built on the other side of the river and looked down at the same time it swam within a couple inches of my legs, right over my feet. I never played or caught minnows over there again. I knew what it was and was warned about them. I never told my parents what had happened as I loved the outdoors and didn't want them keeping me inside. But the food for my pet turtle was the pet store type only after that.
Every one of my kids (4 girls, 3 sons) knows how to catch clean and prepare rattlesnake. Some years, it's all red ratler other years it's diamond backs. It's nice white meat. If cooking in the wild, cut into 3" pieces salt & pepper on a stick cook over wood coals. If at home, soak the meat in milk for an hour. That gets rid of the gammy taste. Fry for a few minutes in butter or lard. Salt and pepper to taste. Eat it like a fish, and pull the meat right off the rib bones.
Jesus wasn't a rich man, although He was a direct descendent of David and, arguably, the heir to the throne in Jerusalem. Most of His close disciples were not powerful, rich, nor influential. Why would He look down on poor people?
God speed Old Grandpa Hickory ✌️👼🤟

That is awesome!
Wood rats? Aren't those squirrels?
no....they are field mice that invaded houses.....
No, there are actually a type of rat called wood rats that get quite large 😊
😳
@@teresaarnold6605same thing is a river rat is bigger than a barn rat or a house mouse.
Survival of the Furry 😂
