  • Replaced a bad TXV, added a new drier and changed out the fan cycle control on this Bard wall Mount unit. I’m in North Carolina and these hubs run in AC all year long. So even in the winter when it’s cold outside. This is why these units have fan cycle controls so that they can operate in AC mode regardless of the cold outdoor temperatures.

Compressor looks like original compressor so I'm assuming the system still has mineral oil...? How much POE oil did you add to the system to promote good oil return for R407C? I guess you didn't take any existing mineral oil out of the system? Or, were you just counting on good oil return regardless since evaporator is directly above compressor?

We added AC renew to the system. And yes the evaporator coil is about 3 feet above the compressor so that helps with good oil return.

How much does the compressor cost? How old was the unit? Wondering if it would have been better to replace the compressor too.

I’m not sure how much a new compressor would cost. Bard units are expensive though. The company we did this repair for usually waits until something breaks before repairing it. They aren’t proactive with repairs.
