I've always thought his Bach recording was one the best out there!

The Sarabande is heart-rending, almost tragic in coloring. Its starkness and gloominess create a barren landscape which I have never heard elsewhere in the piano literature, to my memory.

Thank you very much for sharing this. Gavotte sounds curious, it has almost humorous elements (in Bach's standards), and Gavotte II is even more surprising: no "#'s" or "b's".

The Prelude has a staccato texture which I find sparkling and .... beautiful!! The inner harmonies are appealing and engaging to my ear. The eighth and dotted eighth notes compose a line which I really LIKE. Difficult for me to analyze when the ... loveliness and liveliness of this Prelude are engaging my ear with ceaseless motion, both rapid and...of course, staying the forward motion to the finish. Allemande is almost eerie in temperament --- lovely and linear nonetheless. Pogorelich imbues this performance with all the senses, plus one's heart and soul. Gorgeous tone.

Fabulous Ivo Pogorelić. Hardly can this be compared with Fernando Valentino on his harpsichord.
Dare I say, Johann Sebastian Bach would have 'approved' of both, had he had the chance to listen
to them. Thanks for demonstrating the difference between two very individually excellent artists.
(The interpretation of 'Sarabande' strongly reminds me of Keith Jarrett.) Well, I definitely wrote my
comment too soon. The 'Gavottes' now make clear, that Pogorelić not only took almost ten more
minutes for this work, he also completely made it his own. Wonderful ~ I love it ! Thanks !

Ein kleines bisschen zu hastig aber sonst grandios.
