Veilguard isn't really open-world though. It's mission based with a central hub, just like Anthem, which just shows that they haven't learned a damn thing.

I am a fan of the Dragon Age franchise. I loved the games, the story, and the lore is very rich. This thing is not Dragon Age at all. I mean when I saw the trailer for the first time as I didn't know about the name change I thought that it's going to be a mobile game. It doesn't look like Dragon Age it feels like a very different game with only the name Dragon Age slapped on it. I was waiting for DreadWolf I was so excited. And instead we got this abomination. There is no way I will spend money on this crap. And they are not even re inventing the wheel. We literally had trans characters gay characters lesbians demi-sexuals, exclusively straight people. I mean Solas would only date you if you were a female elf and nothing else. But it had lore behind it. We had bisexual pirate lady. They all were very well written, they had their place in the story it was not forced at ALL. The writing was good the world so dark but still fantastical. I loved it all. It was my go to game for years. It was just amazing and this is ... a disgrace. I will be very honest. I don't care about sexuality or gender in a game if it's not forced to prove a point. Dragon age was good because you could make so many decisions you could go in so many ways you could choose your play style and how you wanted to change your world. You wanted to date a gay necromancer? Have at it. Wanted to bed the heterosexual knight lady? Well good luck with her. You had the ability to have the game you wanted. It did not shove identity politics down your throat but gave you the option the go and try to do whatever you wanted. Yeah.... I am refusing to pay for this crap.

When Dragon Age Origins came out I was thrilled. It was exciting, the novels accompanying the game were pretty great. I loved Duncan and Logan. I tall weoked. And yes it was somewhat woke, Sure. Much of Fantasy and Sci Fi is "Woke" being very much rooted in humanism, equality and what we all understood to be woke. So yes the game had moments. But it flowed so well and was natural it didn't feel like things were being shoehorned in like pronouns and custom creating surgery scars...I have no idea if this game will do well but this looks goofy. They need to stop with this art direciton firsr and foremost.

Huge Dragon Age Fan, loved Inquisition (which many fans already don't). Now that the new game is coming out, after waiting for it for years, I started playing Skyrim for the 25th time instead while waiting for February and KCDII.
All of this aside. The fact they made a party based, sort of turn based combat game into hack and slash should tell you everything about the direction of this game.
They ruined Star Wars, they ruined Lord of the Rings, they ruined the Witcher, they are trying to ruin Warhammer 40k, all franchises I love. But I have been waiting for this game for so many years and now they ruin this too. Why do these companies do this just for a tax right off?? Thats got to be the reason?

All my friends were looking forward to this before Bioware started talking about it. I don't think any of us are even going to try it now, Bioware managed to kill all our excitement and anticipation all by themselves. I will be surprised if the new Mass Effect is any better.

I was able to afford a nice vacation for the first time in my life in June. Ubisoft should have been the Tryarch of Assassin's Creed. They should've released an assassin's creed every 1 or 2 years that amounts to 30 to 40 hours of gameplay. When Dragon Age Origins came out I was thrilled. It was exciting, the novels accompanying the game were pretty great. I loved Duncan and Logan. I tall weoked. And yes it was somewhat woke, Sure. Much of Fantasy and Sci Fi is "Woke" being very much rooted in humanism, equality and what we all understood to be woke. So yes the game had moments. But it flowed so well and was natural it didn't feel like things were being shoehorned in like pronouns and custom creating surgery scars...I have no idea if this game will do well but this looks goofy. They need to stop with this art direciton firsr and foremost.

Huge Dragon Age Fan, loved Inquisition (which many fans already don't). Now that the new game is coming out, after waiting for it for years, I started playing Skyrim for the 25th time instead while waiting for February and KCDII.
All of this aside. The fact they made a party based, sort of turn based combat game into hack and slash should tell you everything about the direction of this game.
When company aims to please agenda instead of customers, then the lack of sales IS THE OUTCOME.
They ruined Star Wars, they ruined Lord of the Rings, they ruined the Witcher, they are trying to ruin Warhammer 40k, all franchises I love. But I have been waiting for this game for so many years and now they ruin this too. Why do these companies do this just for a tax right off?? Thats got to be the reason?

This is so sad! I remember back in the days writing my first article on Mass Effect, and playing the game. Bioware use to be at the top of the food chain when it came to rpg games! But i am not sorry for them!
Gator reminds me of Yahtzee on certain unfortunate podcast. He was sitting there with Jim Sterling and few minutes in Jim lets him know on secret that he is pregnant. You can see the horror on Yahtzee face while "congratulating" Jim on his ... uhm ... miracle.
All my friends were looking forward to this before Bioware started talking about it. I don't think any of us are even going to try it now, Bioware managed to kill all our excitement and anticipation all by themselves. I will be surprised if the new Mass Effect is any better.
I don’t have a problem with companies becoming woke because it’s preventing me from keeping myself held down financially by over engaging in consumerism. The real problem is all the manipulations tactics companies do to trick their customers into spending money. Im committed to not supporting woke things. So I’m grateful they are making me save money. I was able to afford a nice vacation for the first time in my life in June. I wouldn’t have been able to do that if I spent the year prior buying AAA games and going to the movies like I always used to.

Yep, that's how the culture of "toxic positivity" works in these studios. Anyone who doesn't toe the DEI line is ostracized and pushed out. Criticism and critique are discouraged internally, and anyone who dares suggest "maybe this isn't a good idea" quickly finds themselves jobless.

They want to compete. They want to fight for their ideas and execute the things that they are good at. If any group or business lets a critical mass of these dei /toxic positivity types glom together ... they doom themselves to watering down their output into oblivion by pushing out or stifling the really talented individuals.
It's why all of the products out of these outfits are milquetoast at best .... think of school kids picking teams ... the one everyone wants to pick first; the one they fight over ... that's not the kid that's preoccupied with fairness doctrine and group equity. It's the ones no one would pick that get focused on making sure everyone is included. These studios are trying to speed run into being staffed, soup to nuts, with last picks.

I feel like this game probably wouldn’t have been DoA if they had actual marketing people marketing that game. The people who are in control of the trailers and the people who are showing off things in the game are doing it wrong and it’s obvious they’re killing it With the advertisements. this is the same crap that has been pointed out to be wrong on other failed Movies and games, some of which look like they could have been cool, but because of the way they are marketing is turning away people that would buy it.

Ubisoft should have been the Tryarch of Assassin's Creed. They should've released an assassin's creed every 1 or 2 years that amounts to 30 to 40 hours of gameplay. I mean imagine Assassin's Creed Shadows the size of the first game with everything they promised and the good old system.
Give me funds and I'd create a better assassin's creed than ubisoft.
