@Henrique_Dutra it was available for free on black Friday, you were able to sign up before and then re-enter your email when it became available to receive your licence. Sadly it's not possible to get it that way anymore.

@@Henrique_Dutra Waves gives away a brand new plugin for free on Black Friday every year if you sign up to their newsletter. Then it goes on sale for a bit and then up to full price.
I got my free copy, and think maybe it's not the professional's first choice, but I was quite impressed on my mixes. Trust your ears, and my ear's dig it.
I know Waves has a negative view by the community. I can tell you Waves is used in Live venues more than all other plug in companies combined. Also multi million dollars studios still use them all the time.
I believe it's doing the same, or very similar, process as ProAudioDSP's DSM plugin, with somewhat less control. Basically multiband compression with many many bands, and a detected frequency curve, applying a lower compression threshold to louder frequencies and higher threshold to quieter ones, leading to a flattened out (i.e. balanced) frequency spectrum. For free (if you can get it in time) it's amazing, even with DSM also being on sale for pretty cheap right now.
No doubt you could achieve similar results with an EQ and a compressor. As I said in the video I’m not usually a fan of these one-knob type plugins but I was impressed by the sound and the workflow. Seems like it would be a useful tool in certain scenario but there’s obviously loads of different ways to do a similar thing.
Tried it for the 1st time last night on a post-master. Sounded great. Just a small amount made a very significant difference. I may add this to my post-mastering chain, which currently consists of a single plugin and now perhaps 2. Thanks for the video.

I too got this for free. Haven't gone on a deep dive yet, but I quite like it as well! I found that it works best on individual instruments or groups, also the instrument specific presets are a great starting point.
I think what it's doing is something similar to an EQ match, similar to what you can do in Spectralayers, although it'll be matching to a specific "shaped" curve. I tested it out earlier while I was mastering an album and it really does clear up resonances very well. I guess putting it on sub busses would be cool to help rebalance certain elements in a mix. I'll be getting some use out of it. Thanks for the vid!
useful - I think bit where you can play with the curve is interesting but doesn't defeat the intelligent feature if there's a need to find the correct frequency etc meanwhile I really liked the track, song BTW
correct me if i’m wrong but it’s essentially curves equalizer (soothe 2 clone) that compresses? Just use curves equalizer/soothe2 and your stock compressor, achieve the same effect with more versatility
no doubt you can achieve similar results in a range of different ways but my first impressions are that I enjoy the simplicity of the workflow with IDX
@@LauritsBrandt i heard it was pretty expensive computational wise but so is the alternative i mentioned, both ways should probably be bounced once you get the result your looking for so performance doesn’t become a hurdle
@@jimsangerI agree, but tbh it sounds actually better than bloom. Have to give this to Waves. Bloom really underwhelmed me. IDX seems to get a better balance somehow.
Before you put this on was this supposed to be a more or less finished mix? Doesn't have any treble at all, way too muffled. So it could only get better. The greatest effect that helps that mix is that the plugin introduces high end. A simple Master EQ high shelf would have done the trick too.
The track has all the original mix bus processing stripped and replaced by IDX for the purpose of seeing how well IDX can replace an entire mix bus chain. It’s audibly doing a lot of compression too so a high shelf EQ wouldn’t quite do the job on its own.
So basically a soundgoodizer. It may be useful, but I never trust plugins that are built like a black box, I want to know how it's doing whatever it does.
Yup, bought the plug in and used it on a master but wanted to see some other folks using it. One thing that's nice is that I feel like I can trust waves plug ins. I know they're going to yield professional results. However these "mystery" plug ins are a little tough to get used to but I'm getting there. It seems to me that this is like an intelligent multiband compressor. I like the idea of that and so far the results have been pretty good. I'm sure they'll get even better with time. Thank you for the review.
Nope. Opposite, in fact. The LIVE version has zero latency, but at the cost of more CPU use. Regular for me uses 2,9% CPU and 2687 samples of latency. And the live version uses 4,4% CPU with 0 sample latency.
Asked for it. Registered. Likely won't use. I try to limit the different brands of products I install. Looks like FL SoundGoodizer but with more controls. Now face it, many of us are not doing this for a living and thus have little to no knowledge of mastering. Why worry using such feature ? Go ahead.
well, indepentently of what it actually does or not, what happened to "let's make some art"? I get a vision of how I want something to sound in my head, and have spent years learning how to get it there. The satisfaction of that process is kind of the whole point, which "automatic nicerizer" plugins like this bypasses completely.
I don't think it's that deep. Plenty of art still being made and IDX is not suddenly replacing every aspect of processing a mix. It's just another tool and quite a useful one for me personally. Always good to find new ways of working and evolving.

It's was pretty dope on individual tracks. Cleans up the dynamics really well on kicks and snares
This plugin seems to work remarkably well on snares in particular!
To be fair, you started with a very dark-sounding mix that could've been improved with a simple mixbus EQ.
Exactly

Jeremy, what would you advise, at the beginning or at the end of the mixbus ?

Thank you for this nice review. I already downloaded it.Take care.
Love your walkthrough of the plugin. I just uploaded a similar video displaying the plugin on my channel and Im surprised how well this thing performs
i just used it, love it
I think it is meant to be put on individual channels, not the entire mix as a one-size-fits-all plug-in.
My first expirience is good - a fast check was good. And easy to use. Update: a week of use shows good results - but no wonder
Would you recommend putting it on the master bus? Individual tracks or as like a glue for busses such as drums n melodys
Good question I would love to know myself

You can achieve the same affect by using the LA2A by getting -3db of compression and then turn up the gain.

What if I put it on every single one of my tracks? If I chose to do that, should I eat you and compress first or EQ compress TQ and then add this?
