- This is the first half of 24 Preludes for Piano (2024). The set includes my experiments and sketches in 2024. They were first planned for some ensembles or orchestras, but I think they are good enough to be piano pieces themselves. So, here they are.
I will start uploading No.13 on the first Wednesday of February 2025. The rest of the set will launch in the following weeks; one per week.
I hope you enjoy my music. Please, like and subscribe, if you want to hear more of these.
...
I placed the timestamps with the description for each piece below.
TIMESTAMP
0:05 No.1 - An orchestral hit and 2 lines of voices, singing in a close chromatic with a strange relationship between them. It is harsh, violent, and explosive, and at the same time, mysterious and ominous.
2:14 No.2 - A quirky melody over a simple chordal strike in 6/8. It suddenly transforms in a rush; surprised and hurried. Then, it returns, out of nowhere, and sinks into the depth. It lies there still, losing all of its strength.
4:10 No.3 "Little Fugue in 3.5 Voices" - A little fugue in a complex time. The Subject is fragmented into several motives in the episodes throughout the piece. The Counter-Subject shows up here and there, sometimes. It is 3.5 voices because it has 4 in exposition, but one of them slowly loses its importance as the music progresses toward the end. Oh, and it is in G Major (Surprise).
5:59 No.4 - A walk in the darkness. A nightmarish landscape twists and turns into something more bizarre as we get deeper. A footstep of something in the dark turns into a bell chiming from an unknown distance. But the darkness keeps getting closer, causing a claustrophobic horror, before we lose our way in the complete blackness. Nowhere to be found ever again.
9:28 No.5 - A Scriabin-ian prelude; lively, spirited, and gleeful. It has a very tonal sound, compared to the previous ones. However, the extended chords blur out the tonality of the piece until the very end.
12:02 No.6 - Several lines are descending chromatically in many different times and layers. It is like a droplet falling into a lake, disturbing and causing turbulence on its surface. It looks more like a piano Etude with a single Theme, continuously followed by 6 Variations; each with a different soundscape.
15:13 No.7 - An Aria-like piece with a strange and mysterious melody. It is haunting and dry like a song of sad ghosts or a cry of gloomy spirits in the dark and cold midnight. Sometimes, one can hear a ring of chimes from afar, along with the rustles of leaves as the cold breeze brushes through.
19:09 No.8 "That Annoying Mosquito" - Pure rage and anger. When I practiced on my piano, this annoying mosquito kept flying around me, as if taunting me to fight. I tried slapping it many times, yet it swirled around dodging my blows. And every time I missed, it showed up before me and mocked my rage and inaccuracy. Whatever, the fight ended shortly after, and the victory was mine. I wiped my keyboard clean before continuing with my practice.
20:45 No.9 - A vision from the past, an absence of the present, and an echo from the future. The music differs in several layers, happening at the same time. But one could hear the melody so lifeless and disinterested in the center of it all.
23:44 No.10 - A dimwitted gavotte with many wide jumps. Its harmony doesn't seem to resolve anywhere, though the phrasing is clear and structural. Even at the very end, something sounds a bit off.
26:42 No.11 - A whirlwind of notes, created by the 2 chromatic lines in contrary motion, goes along with the hand-crossing pattern. The gust of wind crushes through with such a force. Sometimes, it loses its strength, turning into a breeze of tranquility. But in the end, everything returns to stillness.
28:32 No.12 - A dance so brutal and savage, barbaric and grotesque in some fashions, on the uneven rhythmic pattern. The chord, consisting of a crunching minor-2nd interval, keeps repeating like the droning beats of drums in strange and different groupings. The music keeps getting more frenzied and out-of-control with each episode until the end.
Mucho más que interensate. Bello y equilibrado. Personalmente me parece una gran música. Arrebatadora!! Muchas gracias por compartirla. Solo soy un aficionado a la música. Me ha impresionado tu toque y tu fraseo
@@vicentecorderomerino9997 Gracias. Thank you so much. I’m so glad that you like it. Hope to see you on my following pieces again. :D
Great stuff! Very inspiring!!
@@javmbz_schlithler Thank you so much!! I’m glad that you like them. Which one do you like most?
@@OphatTaerattanachai No problem! And that is a hard question. I do have a tendency to enjoy the more stormfull pieces more, so there's many :P but really, the first one got me hooked, the second even more. I must confess I was skeptical about going through the whole 30 minutes but each piece kept me going. I'll have a second listen soon and I'll try to answer properly. I'm very curious to listen to the next 12 preludes!
@ I don’t know if the next 12 preludes will be good enough for anyone. But I’m trying my best in every piece to express my idea. So, I’ll be glad if you find any of them to your liking. :D Hope to see you again when the set is complete.
