Poor Batman have to go through all that, I know when I had a tube down my throat, I had to be heavily sedated! So he is doing great. I send prayers, hope him & Harry are back to themselves real soon. This wasn't to long, Grandpa! So glad Batman is on the mend. I was thinking about a friend of mine, she has 4 goats, and a landscape company drove by her homestead and saw her goats, and decided to "be kind" and threw shrubs over the fence for them. She didn't know it! Around 10 that night, her goats were screaming so bad, that she was about to have a nervous breakdown. Called the vet and she was on the way, but, it was going to be an hour or so. Apparently there is an emergency goat, charcoal kit that you can keep on hand, and she had some. She got it in the goats, and it kept them alive until the vet could get there, and I think she did the same as your vet. But, she did give them one more round of charcoal. It took them about 2 days to get over it. NOW, she keeps a lot of the activated charcoal on hand. But, you need to have the vet teach you how to administer it.

You guys are having an issues with the goats lately. Take a deep breath Grandpa, you definitely made the right decision bringing him in. Same with you Kyle, getting them to the vets ASAP is so very important!!! Goats are built to forage and do not need grains and hay like other animals do. I think grandpa would have to cut down a lot of trees, in order for the grass to grow. Goats probably need to be moved to a different pasture, every now & then, so they can have grass to eat.

Wow! It's definitely been a challenge with the goat children this week! I'm so glad that both Batman and Harry are going to be ok. When we love our animals as much as you do, I'm sure it takes weeks off our own lives when they become sick and helpless. I don't think there's another family that loves their animal babies as much as the Doss Family Farms do! I'm glad Kyle was able to be there to help you out; I love seeing father and sons work together as y'all do! Keep on a' rockin' and a' talkin'! That's always the best part for me! God bless you all!
Prayer Requests: The Activity Director at the nursing home near us had to deliver her baby early. Neither Mom or Baby are doing well. Sorry I do not know their names. Also, our former neighbor of 20 years had been getting very confused. He is about 60. His family called 911, he had a workup and has been diagnosed with cancer of the lungs, colon and liver.
Prayer for little Harry and for Batman. Hopefully they recover completely. Thank you to Kyle of K&S for helping get Batman to and from the vet. I know it means a lot to Ralph and LeeAnn to know you will come when they call.

We have had our hard freeze here in our area of Wisconsin. Got up to a high of 33 yesterday (Saturday) and down to 19 degrees over night. We even had some snowflakes flying around yesterday and accumulate lightly on metal things outside. I am so glad that Kyle could come with his truck and trailer and help you out with Batman. It was good for you Ralph to have his support, help and encouragement. It is like with humans, things can happen fast and come on strong with health issues. For both humans and animals. You take good card of the animals and so do not beat yourself up and go round and round on what you did, should have done, etc. I will add Batman to my prayer list and continue to pray for you as well. Take care.

I'M ANITA: Grandpa you said; "It's hard and sometimes you don't know why you do it?" You and Grandma have the love in your hearts to give to the animals. I'm thankful to you both that you do. This video can help others that have goats and some that are getting goats. It lets them as well as us know what can happen and how to treat it when or if it does. Talk about a hard week! What an oddity that Batman and Harry both got sick at the same time. You did exactly what you needed to, and so did Kyle, G'ma and the vet clinic. :) We just keep on learning like we all have even during this video. You two have / and are... a great family! :) As the number of our pets rise, so do the inevitable possibilities of an injury, illness, etc.. Loving the Doss family!!

Poor Batman... I hope he's feeling better now & I can understand being in pain. I am so happy he seems to be better. It was a rough week for goats in the Doss family & I hope Harry & Batman are back to normal. I worry about the animals all of the time & love them so much.. I understand how emotional we can get with our animals as I do the same. I did not want any more cats as I couldn't take losing them, but my late husband adopted a cat for me so I wouldn't be alone when he died. I did not expect him to die, & I still have PTSD from his sudden death. Buddy cat helped me get thru that & now that I am having to sit & rest, he has been here beside me & we both enjoy it. Animals are such a joy.
So glad Batman is better. I was watching K&S when you called. Of course instantly was worried about your critters. Anyway, you are doing a great job. Every day is a learning experience. And if not, then you must be gone. We're never to old to learn. Love you guys.

At the vet, batman knew you took him there to get him help . He stood still and let you push, on his side and did not fight it. and I know he was sick but most animals, being sick or in pain or both go out the window and try to fight everyone touching him. He knew he was getting help.

This has been a rough week for the goats between Harry and now Batman. I hope they feel better soon. My prayers are with both of them. There is nothing more beautiful and relaxing then having a fire in the fireplace, with the four letter word(snow) on the ground, a rocking chair and a cup of hot coffee. That is one of the things I miss the most about living in Arkansas. Have a wonderful week and May God Bless You and Your Family.

Update: Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since I had surgery. I am healing and recovering... Do have some other issues to be addressed, have to recover a bit more before moving forward on. Fridays' Dr appt. put more light on what had been going on, he also said they did have biopsies done, everything came out with good results. Thank you for you meaningful prayers.

I'm glad to hear that Batman is doing better now. It must have been a scary situation for you. Have you talked to your vet about preparing an emergency first aid kit for your farm? You can fill it with necessary supplies that you could use in case of any emergency. I'm not sure if your vet can provide antibiotics, but it would be good to have them in the kit. Your animals are in good hands with you.
I keep some things on the farm but for what Batman needed I didn’t have the proper stuff to get the electrolytes to where they needed to go. A syringe wouldn’t do it.
Give him a week or two and he’ll start coming back around and ‘forgive’ you. You did everything you can for him whether he understood it or not.
Jason at Coghill Farm feeds his goats a feed that’s supposed to help with bladder stones or something. They lost a goat years ago when his bladder burst. They took him to the vet school in Alabama, but it was too late. They started feeding the feed they give them now at the recommendation of the vet school. Sorry I can’t remember exactly what it is they give them. Glad Batman is doing better.

Without being there I would bet that he got an a pain reliever and an antibiotic. Praying a small stock trailer surfaces soon so animals can be out of the weather when they visit the vet if they are not feeling well.
Well I am crying for Batman too---Little Harry too---Wow, that "critter-gitter" is wonderful for goats. (great job Kyle!) They do become your babies---pets-. I understand the guilt feelings, even though we should NOT feel that way, when you love those animals, and get so many different "professional" opinions, we are their shepherd, and we are called to give them the best of ourselves in their care.
Ralph you take great care of all your animals. You get them medical attention if they need it. If you find out something isn't good for them you change things up to help them! You are so good to all your animals. Hope Batman feels like his old self soon. Even Batman can get a tummy ache. Prayerd for all the Doss Farm animals& Batman & Harry! Poor Batman! Here he isn't feeling well, and he's stuck in the rain getting wet! Talk about punishment! Prayers for Batman and that whatever isn't contagious.
He didn’t get wet going down and on the way back it didn’t rain on us until we turned on our road coming up to the driveway. When we left the house I wasn’t even sure he would make it to the vets. Honestly rain was the least of my worries.

Grandpa, I pulled up the video of when Chad and Case got Lola. Her tail has always been straight. She's looking good. You're doing a great job trimming them up. So glad Batman is doing better.
The change of seasons is hard on everyone. Temperature fluctuations, light changes, barometric changes ……can all cause the “bugs” to get the upper hand. It happens every year, kids suddenly start to bring home the crud. We all feel a little more achy. It truly is a sign of the seasonal change. It occurs in all of our babies (animals) and all of us. Praying for everyone!
Glad Batman is feeling better. Grandpa you are doing the right thing by your animals. Use this as a learning experience. Love all the Doss family videos.
