My favorite strat for Dark Link is the Megaton Hammer. He'll be DEFENSELESS... but you have to attempt to hit him with your sword first for it to work (or clash swords or something like that), and it also won't work in a 3-heart run... and it's probably a bug/glitch.
Sporkinator The Biggoran's Sword is by far the best for speedrunning individual Temples, the Megaton hammer swings too slowly but I guess it's a viable option. If you're doing a 3-heart run you can enter the room with 1/4 or 1/2 a heart and Dark Link will die in just 1 hit ;)

Hatty Hattington I remember that feeling from when I first played this game the Water Temple had me perplexed for about 2 days lol, glad you found the final key!! :)
This walkthrough is still helping old players returning and new players today. As a 2000s kid who grew up playing the Dreamcast, Saturn and N64 thank you for this walkthrough, I've never beaten this dungeon before
I'm playing this game for the first time ever. So far, I've been able to make it through a temple in roughly a few hours. It took me 2 days to finish this temple. While the tasks and challenges the temple had to offer weren't overly difficult, navigating the temple certainly is. That's where I struggled the most. You've got the main circular room with the central tower, and from there, the rest of the temple just tentacles out into a labyrinth of corridors and vertical tunnels. And it took a while to figure out how to get around because the entrance to a lot of the rooms were on an entirely different floor. I found myself running around in circles trying to remember where each room was for changing the water level. Having to change in and out of the iron boots wasn't a huge inconvenience, it was just slightly annoying having to pause all the time. Overall, I like the temple and to some degree, I did enjoy it's difficulty. I didn't wanna use a guide to get through it because it's not an impossible temple to complete. Just a very frustrating one that can make you wanna throw your remote at the screen
Thanks for this the water temple is the most frustrating temple 😭 saved me some time yesterday 😂 I spent a god damn hour missing only one key then watched this and started all over just to follow to see what I missed 😭 you are deff a saint! 🙌🏻 I’m almost done then it’s on to Majoras mask. (Playing on the switch but when I was younger my brother and I played on the 64 🥰)
Watching this as a 33 year old man brings so much peace and nostalgia to my mind. With that being said, I have no idea how I beat this level as a kid?!
Forest and Water Dungeons were the worst, but Water Dungeon takes the cake, for sure. As a kid I never actually beat the game, but still had a lot of fun anyways when I got stuck. Didn't beat it until 32... 20+ years later, and still needed the video walkthrough Definitely peed myself a few times as a kid playing this game, but the sacrifice was worth it in the end
Has life treated you kindly in the intervening quarter of a century? Hopefully yes, because only if you’re feeling happy and brave would you take on this dungeon again 😂
I’m playing through oot for what is hopefully the first ever time i actually make it to the end of the game without giving up. I was a bit worried about this temple, but this video is great! Came here, watched on 2x speed, followed exactly, job done. Video is still useful 10 years later.

+Ted Grove Glad it helped you out. I played this when it was released and the Water Temple took me 4 days to complete without a guide I was 12 years old.

I actually love this temple. I find it very atmospheric and smooth and the trials are diverse and fun. Dark Link is also pretty memorable and the boss is nice to fight, altough its design is bland.

It's been 8 years, how is life?
just listening to this while doing other stuff. soothes my mind. how this game has etched its image into my former self.
This god damn dungeon.... one of my favorite moments of my childhood was finally beating it
+Ryan Bonevitch One of mine aswell lol! Now I really like the Water Temple...
.-. for the life of me, i cant find the final key UGHH
but now i found it :D
Hatty Hattington I remember that feeling from when I first played this game the Water Temple had me perplexed for about 2 days lol, glad you found the final key!! :)
it's been 9 years, hope you're doing well now
This walkthrough is still helping old players returning and new players today.
Im a veteran oot player and every time i replay this game i always get stuck on water temple lol
(Playing on the switch but when I was younger my brother and I played on the 64 🥰)
im playing this on the switch as well, but its the first time im playing any zelda game... needless to say im very hyped for majoras mask
How did u "start over "on switch I'm stuuucckkkk lol
currently playing majora’s mask on the switch - i’m enjoying it a ton ! i actually plan to go for ocarina of time after i complete majora’s
20+ years later, and still needed the video walkthrough
Definitely peed myself a few times as a kid playing this game, but the sacrifice was worth it in the end
Sad how the most useful video in the world isn’t monetized.
Thanks dude. Finally completed it, 25 years after first attempting it!
Has life treated you kindly in the intervening quarter of a century? Hopefully yes, because only if you’re feeling happy and brave would you take on this dungeon again 😂
Tip on the water temple, don't forget to explore the bottom floor after you raise the water levels. Never forget. That is kind of the trick to it.
That's literally the trick to making this an easy dungeon.
Hands up for this guy, who raised me better than my own parents
I bet this is his most viewed video. XD.
+Thomaszeblob It is somehow lol :)
+Thomaszeblob Maybe because a lot of people got stuck in some parts of this temple.
Arrowdance That's right...
I’m playing through oot for what is hopefully the first ever time i actually make it to the end of the game without giving up. I was a bit worried about this temple, but this video is great! Came here, watched on 2x speed, followed exactly, job done. Video is still useful 10 years later.
This guy makes it look so easy. As a mere ten year old, I had to figure this shitshow out on my own back in the day. I got lost for hours man. Took my anger out on that fucking amoeba at the end. I laughed as it bled all over the floor.
+Ted Grove Glad it helped you out. I played this when it was released and the Water Temple took me 4 days to complete without a guide I was 12 years old.
Same
I genuinely do not know how I beat this as an 8 year old kid. I stood in line with my mom the day this game came out. Best day ever.
Dude, you're a beast! Not sure if you're still making videos or not, but I definitely subbed. Thanks for the walkthrough! 👍
took me a whole month to beat this dungean as a kid. there is this part where u go throw a hole when u rise the water. this had me rattling my brains of where was i missing to go.
witch is the hardest temple the water temple or the Shadow Temple
Very helpful vid man! This is my second time through it since I was a kid. I typically go through the game by myself but I knew coming into the water temple that plan would be thrown out.
Thanks, glad it helped your quest.
No joke, first time I went through this temple it took me 11 hours. I felt so stupid. I was 13 at the time and not the smartest kid but I did it with no help. If only this guide existed 12 years ago lol, nice video.
Dont kill me but....
I acctully LOVE the water temple. Its the temple i remember the most from my childhood, when me and my brother played OoT with our dad💙
I’m replaying the game again on N64 on an old CRT TV just like the good old days but I arrived at the Water Temple and was like “some things from the past, I don’t want to re experience, so I just used your video to blast thru the infamous Water Temple. Thank you for this whoever you are. GG
I actually love this temple. I find it very atmospheric and smooth and the trials are diverse and fun. Dark Link is also pretty memorable and the boss is nice to fight, altough its design is bland.
Same here I like it too.
The song of time block behind the long shot chest is what drove me crazy as a kid. I didn’t know it was there. I think I was so excited to use it and took me months to figure out what I was missing to complete this dam temple
Thanks helped a lot I’ve been putting off this super hard water temple for years.
got drunk and told myself "This is the 3rd time you are doing this temple. You are 37. You got this." I screwed that pooch worse than ever before
thank you, random guy that recorded a walkthrough 9 years ago!
Fr
@@LilSleepDoctor i forgot to take din's fire, i needed to get out of the temple, get back in time and take din's fire
@@r2nemesis42 I took some extra before I left, I stopped playing this game years ago because I couldn’t beat this dungeon and I recently started a new file because I wanted to beat this game before tears of the kingdom came out. Still couldn’t beat it so I just ended up looking up a tutorial.
This video is so helpful. I remember hating this as a teenager. I’m 38 now and I’m playing on the Switch and I just about lost my mind thank you for this walkthrough!
Arguably the best temple in Ocarina of Time. Such a masterpiece of a game
Hel na, THE WORSR TEMPLE
this is sooooo help full you have no idea how long I've been stuck on this temple
Glad it helped you, thanks.
+harKazoid86's N64 Hub up next is the dark temple.... lol JK o kinda know my way bout that 1
The year was 2011 or 2012. I remember I was in a psychotic depression seriously messed up abusing prescription meds playing on this level on my Wii anxiety was causing me madness
This was so helpful. I’ve restarted Ocarina Of Time and was dreading this temple. I even took a long break from playing just because I knew this was next haha.
It’s been 4 years, did you finish it?
@@mtgm3 Yeah! Thanks to this video haha!
This is the first time I’ve been able to beat this game because of this walk through thank you so much 🥲
Accidentally beats shadow link on my first time through without him blocking or me taking a hit while just stared confused at my screen
I beat Shadow Link first time too all those years ago, but I took a lot of damage and needed 2 Fairy's.
Same
Thanks a lot man, I'm replaying Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch Online +. Best regards.
kids who played through this gained 20+ IQ points. I really believe this!
I actually love the water temple. Beyond the tedious boot switching, this, the spirit temple, and the forest temple are the best of any zelda game.
This was really helpful! But just a small tip for anyone: the best way to kill dark link is with the megaton hammer. It's so fast and easy :)
Thank u!!
But its not as fun tho especially when people use fire magic :/
@@ToxTube97 you think anything about the water temple is fun? 😂
@@leviallen4227 if it was easy, it wouldn't be
Thank you so much. I've tried beating this game for years. I'm finally plaything all the way through on my 2DS, and it's going great. The water temple though... I've heard so many bad things about this temple that I decided to just play right alongside you. Thanks for taking the time to help us all out!Excited to continue the adventure on my own now!
I always forget the hole below that rising block in the middle tower part.
Nicholas Wozniak That's why it's a good idea to put a Farore's Wind there so you don't miss it and can warp back quickly (check my speedruns on the Water Temple for some HUGE time savings). Hope this helped :)
harKazoid86's N64 Hub Yea I'll check them out. And your video helped me a ton, so thanks for that. The water temple is always the most difficult for me, so this made it so much easier.
Glad this video keeps being a help to others! Thanks for dropping a comment, appreciated :)
I’m sure that almost everybody took forever to find that hole lol
I replayed this game and I’m doing the water temple rn and I literally wondered how I missed that lmao that’s the last key to get to the dark link battle I’m pretty sure
I don't remember people saying this stage was difficult. I just remember that it look longer to figure out that most. But I play a lot of games back then the internet was very infant and no googling. no strategy guides too, until I beat ITT.
This game was a showcase of how good your skills really are
Man, it would take me like 44 DAYS to complete this xD
Instead of 44 minutes lol :)
harKazoid86's N64 Hub Yep, I may be a big fanatic, and I may be really good at this game, but when it comes to the Water Temple, I will rage quit at any moment lol
HaylieDoezThingz I've quit many times speedrunning this temple lol
harKazoid86's N64 Hub
lol
It took me like 50
Lol I remember spending days and days figuring out this temple when I was a kid... this is golden, and the technique to kill the final boss was crazy.
thanks dude I always get stuck on some parts of this temple
+Thomas Kellar Glad it helped!
I hope you have this for all the others. I’m planning on doing my next episode of a twitch series where I beat games in one sitting with OoT and I can remember basically everything til about now. So I’m going to check your channel for shadow and light after this. Either way thanks for the upload dude!!
I have been fucking with this dungeon about 5 hours and im still trying to defeat Dark Link AAARRHFFHFGH
I got a flawless victory on him with a hammer no problem, and I suck at this game
No use biggorons sword, backflip then jumping strike, always works.
WinBoat ikr
aha Next time use Biggoron's sword will finish him in around 5-14 seconds.
So did you do it?
This is the reason I commit war crimes
Not all heroes wear cape...
Thank you
It's been 7 years how is it going?
Love the detail of Link's reflection disappearing as he walks past the dead tree in the Dark Link room.
Thank you so much for this! Totally saved me, I was so confused so I started from scratch and just followed the walk through :p
That's ok I'm glad you were helped by my upload :)
Ugh,thank you so much, after not using a single shortcut or cheat I gave up when it came to this temple -it was either a walk through or a broken controller, thanks dude 😇😇😇
I’ve used your guide many times in my replay of this temple, thank you for the help, you are awesome!
It’s been about 15 years since my last playthrough on N64 and I went about 10 mins in before saying F this and searching for a side by side
Thank you
You think The Water Temple is that confusing, wait until you meet it's brother- GREAT BAY TEMPLE.....
Jonathan Chuck That one's easy, I can beat it within 15 mins or less lol
Lakebed temple is more complicated than great bay.
nah. that one made sooo much more sense
Just follow the water pipes
When I get another copy of Majora's Mask I'll upload Great Bay Temple 100% walkthrough
Thank you soooooooooo much I would have never found my way through the temple without this video :) :) :)
Kerren Ammons Glad to have helped you through this aquatic maze!! :)
From playing this on 3DS I can easily say I felt true pain for a good 8 hours
Words can't express how grateful I am that the 3DS version allowed you to swap boots with just a button press.
10:45 is the part you were looking for.
Link: underwater for multiple minutes
The cucco in his pocket: 👁👁
10:36 for those stuck
It does literally show you the hole in the cut scene
You don't know pain until you've played the water temple.
Do the graphics of the N64 version really look this blurry, or is it just the video?
Yes, N64 and all of consoles until PS2 looked like this
@@paburo-san6667 nah, the ps1 and sega saturn looked way sharper. The n64 is notoriously ugly. Look at castlevania 64. It's abysmal
