Nuno is an equally great singer in addition to being one the best guitar players on Earth.
When I was in college, I worked at our campus radio station. We would do free live music shows twice a week out in the lobby in front of the station. Free bagels (our only sponsor!). Bands would give us airtime & we would give them quality engineered recordings of their show. Mostly young local bands just getting started. Extreme performed this song in the lobby, I was one of a handful of people watching & listening (a few feet from the band). It was amazing!

Basically: saying "I love you" is never a replacement for the act of loving someone. And too many ppl use the words in place of the actions.

I LOVE seeing newbies react to songs I enjoyed as a teen! This is a great example of flatfoot singing! We used to gather and sing this song as LOUD as we could. Soul music! This song will never grow old!
The message of the song is don’t say it. Prove it, Show it in your actions and deeds. Anyone can say they love you. However anyone can’t make you feel truly loved, because it’s more than words. It was my wedding song 30 years ago.

The guitarist Nuno Bettencourt is one of the greatest guitarists ever, he has worked with both Janet Jackson and Rihanna in the past.
A lot of people had no exposure to Extreme before this, and got a rude surprise when they bought the album expecting acoustic pop.

I love this song for TWO reasons. First, the sound & their voices are angelic & wondrous to behold! Secondly, & most importantly, it’s the MEANING of the song! A meaning that effects EVERYONE on God’s green earth! It’s that old saying “actions speak louder than words” turned into a beautiful song! In this case, SHOWING LOVE! You can tell someone you love them, but it’s showing them u love them is what proves it! Has anyone told u they love you but has NEVER actually shown you, made you feel loved? Like the song says, what if those words were taken away? How are you going to prove it? Obvious answer….YOU SHOW IT! And by showing it, you never need to say those words cuz I’d already know!;)

This song was the eventual ruin of this band. Before this song came out they were a rock band with a very heavy sound. When this song came out it was an instant hit and attracted a whole new audience that only wanted to hear songs like this. This was to the total dismay of the band!
