This film is an updated version of a Norwegian film we posted in September. We received many requests for an English version and it has been sent to our other offices around the world. This has also been posted again following feedback on image use, which has now been improved.

Very interesting campaign on recognizing other non stereotypical ways of communicating. It would be great to know about What happens to the local health systems when MSF is not present anymore? Do you have any learning on applying the Do no Harm approach?

@@hectormoralespeace Thanks for your question. Here is one example, but a fairly representative one. MSF typically trains local staff and donates equipment and supplies to ensure continued capacity when handing over to local health authorities: ua-cam.com/video/FH-Ddfc3jgA/v-deo.html

Thank you for posting this video. I was struggling with the optics of MSF. I am sending a Black American doctor to Sudan in a feature film screenplay I am writing and everything I found represented the 'White Savior' narrative. This is wonderful and I learned so much from your presentation. Thank you again.

Glad to see this change happening. As a former staff in Uganda, DRC & Sudan this is encouraging. More is yet to be done though. Hope other INGOs should equally follow the trail too.

Such a great and touching way to work on own blind spot. I directly donated again. Small (or not so small) remark: The "Thank you"-Page that is shown after the donation is showing a white woman with a black baby again...

Except a non-colonial approach is also to look at the solution through a lens that gives agency to its people not just to MSF: as in a vision that is fuelled by the people it is said to serve, rather than by the "experts" standing outside, programs imagined with its people.

NGO-ization refers to the professionalization, bureaucratization, and institutionalization of social movements as they adopt the form of nongovernmental organizations. It led to NGOs' depoliticizing discourses and practices of social movements.

I have a question though, what about the differences in salaries and treatment of the people who come from western countries, compared to the ones who come locally? Don’t get me wrong, I still appreciate the fact that the MSF organization is beginning to acknowledge this issue, but a petition was already signed by more than 1100 of your colleagues who are people of color, and they addressed the issues of differential treatment(both in the amount of work, salaries, sick leaves and such), and this was 4 years ago. Is anything done about this? Considering that the people in management positions are still, mostly, white… words can be a great tool in expressing change, but what about actual action?

Point of order, he's not black Sudanese and she's not a French white woman. They are both souls made from the same light of God having a human experience. That's the truth that can end so much strife and division for everyone.

Courageous it is not, in a time when exactly this is the mainstream narrative and ideal. inclusion and diversity. good you do it, probably. but it is so easy now, the easiest way/trend to go with now. No 👏👏 from me for going with the herd exactly when everyone is on the same route finally.

Honestly, would it hurt to get a guy who speaks English without that wierd Accent. As an Asian (with an accent that is mocked as incomprehensible) , I am trying hard everyday to better my English and I feel that is one of the reasons why the white saviour complex exists, because they are more relatable.
