You are absolutely right! Michael Jackson's songs are just timeless. They sound just as good today as they did decades ago (before I was even born). Love the reaction!
Incredible song for sure and the video is a banger. Michael made MTV huge, which is ironic since MTV was not promoting black artists at the time and even he had to fight to get his videos played. The videos did help Michael become a huge artist as well but his vision for his videos are what made the impact. At the time the videos were just thrown together and money was not something record companies were giving to make good ones. Michael had the vision to see that video were going to be the way to promote music and wanted them to be mini-movies. Michael was incredibly talented. There is no denying that he took the pop icon to a new level.

My Mom stood in line for 4 hours to get this Thriller album when it came out. We waited at home with all the neighbors, moved the furniture against the walls, prepared to dance!!!
My first three albums I got for Christmas. Quiet Riot-Metal Health . Def Leppard-Pyromania. Michael Jackson-Thriller. What a great time to be in jr high.
Everyone can remember so Michael Jackson did the Motown 25 year anniversary when Michael did the first ever video of the moon walk. He even was called by Fred Astaire and said that he had just made history with his dance with the very first image of the moon walk. And Fred knew dancing.
In 1984 for my 10th birthday, I asked for a Michael Jackson cake. I totally got it!! Thriller album was still so hot at this time. Such great memories!
I remember everyone glued to their television set to watch Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever, in1983. The first time we saw the moonwalk. He performed Billi Jean. The next day it was all anyone could talk about!
So happy you are revisiting Michael Jackson. Michael was just 2 years older than me so I grew up listening to him. He was quite a showman from childhood on. You should watch the Jackson 5 on the Ed Sullivan Show. All of them were great, but Michael stood out even then.
I remember when this song first came out. I was a teenager and this song g started getting a lot of airplay on the radio. Then when someone told me it was Michael Jackson, I was like no way, that little kid from Jackson 5? It seems astounding now that there was a time before MJ was so big. When theThriller Album took off it was everywhere.
Still loving this after all these years. We wore out multiple copies of the Thriller album. Everybody played it again and again! I think maybe my grandkids play it now.
This is the song that brought MJ back on my radar. Until I heard this song had not paid attention to his solo career. Made up for lost time after this. LOL One of the music giants.
