As a heterosexual man I absolutely loved George Michael to bits. He was such a decent person, a caring person. I couldn't care about his sexuality. His humanity is more important and he had that in spades
I am glad you liked George , but being gay or not has nowt to do with it .....I am not gay but I still think his music was some of the best I have listerned to over the last 20 years
I don't care if he was gay or not. It's irrelevant to his amazing talent. He lived half of his life, a bit more than half, having to hide his true self from everyone, including his family. He hated himself for having to pretend to be someone else. It was totally unfair. He shared his beautuful voice, and unforgettable songs with us, and I'm grateful to him for that. After he died at Christmas in 2016, the whole world found out how giving he was. He was a philanthropist who not only contributed to many charities and organizations, but he also paid for in vitro fertilization for a couple he saw on a talk show. He did all of these things in secret. He told his people to make sure no one knew he was involved. He was a beautiful man, and a beautiful soul. I wouldn't trade this one great gay man for a million so called "good" Christians.
I agree. He had such a beautiful voice ^ so much talent. He should have been appreciated for that alone. Not be picked on by someone that calls himself a Christian then turns around, makes fun of him then trys to crawfish it backwards when he realizes he may have messed up. What a poser!
It’s a video. Videos have acting. Pretty man kissing girls sells records. He wasn’t out then. Most importantly George was a magnificent artist and humanitarian. THAT’S what counts.
You've gotta remember that when this song was released, there was still a stigma attached to being gay. It was at the height of the AIDS scare and they had no idea where the illness came from or how to treat it. All they knew was that it was fatal and hitting the gay community specifically and that kept celebrities/public figures from coming out. The record labels at the time also discouraged gay artists from being open, especially if the artist was seen as a heart-throb by throngs of teenaged girls who went nuts over them. They weren't about to risk shattering the illusion and seeing their record sales tank. Not sure that's not still the mindset of a lot of labels today...
1988, I was a concierge where GM stayed in Dallas for sold out concert at Texas stadium. He came down and asked questions about Dallas and what I thought would be best places to see and eat. I won’t lie I was kinda shocked he even wanted to venture out of his hotel. Omg he was soooo freaking nice and down to earth normal. We didn’t have cameras and I was bummed but staying professional. He chatted a good 20 minutes with me and an assistant security person. After he gave me a huge hug and a peck on the cheek. I literally thought I’d faint. I got hot and dizzy hahaha. About half an hour later one of his guys sent down this envelope with 4 9th row center tickets to his sold out massive concert. The faith tour. My new husband was working so I had to drag my brother and a friend and wasted the 4th ticket. It is an incredible memory of a super super nice guy.❤

I’m so glad I was brought up in a very liberal college town in a liberal state in a family that was very open-minded. We saw all kinds of things growing up in the 80s. I’ve always been of the mindset that I don’t care if you’re black, white, Asian, Hispanic, gay or straight or anything else as long as you’re a good person and treat other people kindly. You love who you love. As long as you’re in a relationship with a consenting adult who am I to judge or tell you what you should or shouldn’t do.

I didn't have the luxury of growing up in liberal anything I'm from DEEP south...the Bible belt, you name it... but it always made sense to me to LOVE!! The Hate just needs to stop!
George Michael wrote this when he was 17 years old. He was part of Wham and then went out on his own. He passed away on Christmas Day in 2016. He is one of my favorites, and the saxophone is what sets this song apart from all the rest.
Hey Black P , I remember dancing with my girl, first love to this song ,back in the day , at a small bar, in Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada! Great Video!!
George Michael suffered a lot of inner turmoil because of his sexuality. Many people are deeply conflicted because of lack of acceptance. I am a Gen-X kid and I had two friends commit suicide because they could not face being gay before I reached 18. I had other friends who survived to adulthood but were kicked out by their parents before they were 16. I knew people who were homeless as kids and hustled (at the height of the AIDS epidemic) to be able to survive because their families put them out. And yes, these were self-professed Christians who abandoned their children to the streets because they were gay.
Huh, Christians 🙄. There are thousands of afterlife testimonies who claim there are no churches on the other side and religion is man-made so to speak.
George Michael was around 21yrs old when this song came out. He was still trying to figure himself out. He had girlfriends but was also attracted to men. Initially, he considered himself bisexual but later realized that he preferred men.
But even preferring men doesn't mean he doesn't also like women. The real question is if he somehow graduated from bisexual (but preferring guys) to getting in 'ick' reaction to females and thus being fully gay.
Also, the music industry didn't really wnated him to be gay since as a part of Wham he needed to attract a lot of young girls to buy their albums. They should have considered how many young men would buy them, but at that time they didn't think that way. LJ
Also worth noting how much worse the overall social stigmatization and homophobia were when WHAM! was becoming more popular in the early 80s, and then following that when he went solo.
Almost always works out that way, I live in San Francisco and have since the 70's. George was like so many from that time hiding who he was, but deep down always knowing. So sad that George was so worried about his family finding out, it really took him down a dark road. R.I.P. George Michael, we miss you!🕊❤️
Amazing vocalist, excellent writer/lyricist, great producer and composer, plus played piano and guitar. He is my favorite of all time. They just don't make them like that any more. Very few musicians like him. He is sorely missed. You should check out One More Try. His vocals are incredible. Or any of his live performances.
George Michael was once the awkward and slightly nerdy new kid in school. There was a 'cool kid' in the class who befriended him, and encouraged his artistic development. They formed a band together called "Wham!" Then realising just how talented George was the once coolest kid in the class who had taken him under his wing encouraged George to become a serious solo artist. Its a lovely story, so its kind of sad that George's best mate from school is now largely remembered as 'the dumb pretty boy with no talent who held George Michael back in his early years".
George was a musical genius. He wrote and produced all his music. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame in November2023. I am the same age as George, I remember hearing Careless Whisper for the first time and thought this singer is heading towards greatness. I was right. He has one of the best fausetto you should check out 'One more try' the official video. He wrote alot of songs from his personal experiences one of his best is 'Jesus to a child' you should check out the video of him singing that song at a British awards show that's the first time he sung that song live. His songs have been a comfort for me throughout the years. I cried when I heard of his passing.
When I was 12 and saw George Michael on MTV I fell instantly in love. Wham was the band he was in before he went Solo. Fun fact is his father was Greek and George Michael isnt his real name, but I can't remember what it was. RIP George Michael you left this world way too soon.. You were a talented singer a good person. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
He was a wonderful man, did so much for charity, was by all accounts a tremendous friend, and a huge talent. He lead with love, and that's all that matters. ❤ His song Faith is great fun and also iconic.
He passed away a few years ago on Christmas Day. He was definitely an icon of the '80s, but I believe he was an icon of the ages. He was just an awesome singer and that's how I try to look at him. I'm a Christian too and I just try to love people for people. Jesus didn't hang out with people from the church of the day. He hung out with the people who needed him the most. That's how I try to be. I appreciate you very much Pegasus and I thank you for being there for us! Thank you once again for a great reaction
Yes, be real and honest and open! Thank you for being that! I saw George Michael 3x in half a year time and they were the best concerts I ever saw. Not only for the music or the voice, but espicially for his .... don't know the words in English... he's not on stage to be cheered at, but to give you the best of time of your life. He really touched my soul with his being ❤
The main reason you’re the only person I pay to subscribe to on UA-cam is that you DO keep it real. I feel like you’re the most honest reactor there is. Don’t care if we agree or disagree, I just appreciate knowing what you really think about songs and life both.
George Michael's catalog is amazing. He had such a beautiful voice. Here's some more of his solo songs and Wham songs to check out: One more try, Everything she wants, Freedom '90, Don't let the sun go down on me, Wake me up before you gogo, I knew you were waiting, Faith, Father figure, Last Christmas, & soooo many more 🥰😊
Wikipedia-In 1981, Michael was working as a DJ at the Bel Air Restaurant in Northwood, London near Bushey, Hertfordshire. Michael explained in his autobiography, Bare, that he conceptualised "Careless Whisper" based on events from his childhood. Michael wrote, "I was on my way to DJ at the Bel Air when I wrote 'Careless Whisper'. I have always written on buses, trains and in cars. It always happens on journeys... With 'Careless Whisper' I remember exactly where it first came to me, where I came up with the sax line... I remember I was handing the money over to the guy on the bus and I got this line, the sax line... I wrote it totally in my head. I worked on it for about three months in my head." Sheet music for "Careless Whisper" sets the key of D minor. "When I was twelve, thirteen, I used to have to chaperone my sister, who was two years older, to an ice rink at Queensway in London," he explained. "There was a girl there with long blonde hair whose name was Jane. I was a fat boy in glasses and I had a big crush on her-though I didn't stand a chance. My sister used to go and do what she wanted when we got to the skating rink and I would spend the afternoon swooning over this girl Jane." "A few years later, when I was sixteen, I had my first relationship with a girl called Helen," Michael continued. It had just started to cool off a bit when I discovered that the blonde girl from Queensway had moved in just around the corner from my school. She had moved in right next to where I used to stand and wait for my next-door neighbour, who used to give me a lift home from school. And one day I saw her walk down the path next to me and I thought - now where did SHE come from? She didn't know it was me. It was a few years later and I looked a lot different. Then we played a school disco with the Executive and she saw me singing and decided she fancied me. By this time she was that much older and a big buxom thing - and eventually I started seeing her. She invited me in one day when I was waiting for my lift and I was... in heaven. Michael observed that after he stopped wearing glasses, he began getting invited to parties. "And the girl who didn't even see me when I was twelve invited me in," he noted. So I went out with her for a couple of months but I didn't stop seeing Helen. I thought I was being smart - I had gone from being a total loser to being a two-timer. And I remember my sisters used to give me a hard time because they found out and they really liked the first girl. The whole idea of "Careless Whisper" was the first girl finding out about the second - which she never did. But I started another relationship with a girl called Alexis without finishing the one with Jane. It all got a bit complicated. Jane found out about her and got rid of me... The whole time I thought I was being cool, being this two-timer, but there really wasn't that much emotion involved. I did feel guilty about the first girl - and I have seen her since - and the idea of the song was about her. "Careless Whisper" was us dancing, because we danced a lot, and the idea was - we are dancing... but she knows... and it's finished. Andrew Ridgeley came up with the chord sequence on his Fender Telecaster he had received for his 18th birthday. They continued to work together on the music and lyrics both at Michael's house in Radlett, and Shirlie Holliman's aunt's basement flat in Peckham, where Ridgeley was living.
Your reaction was genuine and hopefully people watch because of that genuine honesty. You also respectfully expressed your position without condemning anyone else. Please do “Freedom 90” a mesmerizing groundbreaking video by George Michael.
OMG....George Michael! Great songs, misunderstood life, but once again, a great artist gone too soon. He was gay, no doubt among those who knew him, but he began his career in a time when being publically gay could have damaged his growing career. Especially when you consider the AIDS epidemic and wealth of misinformation associated with it in the 80s. His debut solo album "Faith" is essential listening. "I Want Your Sex" shocked many people back then. The extended version of this song from the album is terrific. Not to mention that this album also contained the title track "Faith", "Father Figure", "One More Try" and "Monkey", among others. RIP George Michael
Your speech about how you feel, and your acceptance or tolerance of others was off the wall. If only many others had your values. Incredible. Much love to you
Who cares who you love? Just be who you are, as long you don’t bother anyone else. Btw, I’ve loved Wham and George Michael (same birth year as me) through everything ❤️. George wrote and sang the most beautiful songs.
Wham! was a pop duo with George Michael as the lead singer and Andrew Ridgely as the guitarist, but Michaels had written this song when he was younger and had a vision for it. He pretty much recorded and produced it completely by himself. But because he was still a part of Wham! and working on their new album, it was included on that album though it was listed as featuring George Michael. Partly because he had such faith in the song and was growing beyond the group, heading toward a solo career, he took care of his friend by giving him a writing credit on the song, giving Andrew Ridgely millions in residuals to this day.
I am a Christian and I agree with you. I am not the judge, nor would I want to be. Just love everyone for who they are, that is all we need to do. George Michael was such a talented man. Thank you for reacting to this. I have always loved this song. I was a teenager in the 80's when his music was super popular. I remember watching all these videos on MTV when it still had music. Great memories.
George wrote this when he was 17. He was a genius singer songwriter and philanthropist.
RIP George always missed❤
One of the best songwriters of the 20th century.

Didn't he also not want to do this song?
It says in the good book “Judge not least ye be judged”. Jesus forgave a prostitute…so let him be the judge he doesn’t need a jury.
@@cristyrawks6325 it was released on a Wham album so his friend Andrew Ridgely would get the royalties from this song.

I hope he reads this. He seems unaware of the past.
Our children too now they are brainwashed by Georges people to cut off parts
Huh, Christians 🙄. There are thousands of afterlife testimonies who claim there are no churches on the other side and religion is man-made so to speak.
George Michael não dois como ele não há essa grande música 🎸🎷🎷 é lenda é lenda, ouvia em vinil disco 💽 corta corações,😢😢😢😢 nunca ade perder a moda 😮 .
He came out later but as women we didn’t care. He’s gorgeous and I was still in love with him. 😅❤
You and me both!! I used to get angry when people would tell me he was gay!! Not my man!! Lol...
@@ScramblesWorld2014 I knew he was gay. 🤣 I just didn’t care. Still love him. I can have a crush regardless.
Me too … the hottest man❤️
I assumed he was when 1st seeing him in Wake Me Up Before You Go Go. But who cares. He was sexy and his lyrics and voice chef's kiss.
He was a genius, perfect pitch, producer, philanthropist. ❤❤❤ 😢😢😢
That sax is definitely on the "Sounds Gen X hears" list
He was a brilliant composer!
I doubt that he was really bisexual. He was a pretty guy and women like pretty guys for awhile.
Almost always works out that way, I live in San Francisco and have since the 70's. George was like so many from that time hiding who he was, but deep down always knowing. So sad that George was so worried about his family finding out, it really took him down a dark road.
R.I.P. George Michael, we miss you!🕊❤️
Always keep it real and not fake it my man. That’s why we love watching your channel so much thanks for sharing your truth here.❤
Now that you know his music, you have to listen to more of his songs. Most of his solo songs are beautiful. Wham songs are great also!
Its a lovely story, so its kind of sad that George's best mate from school is now largely remembered as 'the dumb pretty boy with no talent who held George Michael back in his early years".
and he was anything but. George couldnt have done it without him. Ridgely was a pivotal part of his career, no doubt about it.
"Judge not lest ye be judged" well said
Right on!
Cool!
said every PEDD OH FILE
Wake Me Up Before You Go Go shows he can dance.
George Michael wrote all his songs. Monster talent! So sad he left this earth way before time. God bless George! 🙏
Amen ✝️
He was a wonderful man, did so much for charity, was by all accounts a tremendous friend, and a huge talent.
He lead with love, and that's all that matters. ❤
His song Faith is great fun and also iconic.
You don’t know him
@@rtpeixepodre4966 That's what 'by all accounts' means 🙄
Love George Michael. This song was huge when I was in high school. I am like you not for me to judge a person but love his music ❤✌ RIP George
His sister died a few years later, Christmas Day too.
@@anitahargreaves9526didn't know that, wow sad and weird.
Thank you for being you. The struggle is real for everyone.
Another amazing song is “Don’t let the sun go down” by George Michael and Elton John
He really touched my soul with his being ❤
he wrote this song at 17....cray cray talent
George Michael is an amazing singer and songwriter. He wrote all his songs. Very meaningful lyrics and lot of them
The main reason you’re the only person I pay to subscribe to on UA-cam is that you DO keep it real.
My sister used to go and do what she wanted when we got to the skating rink and I would spend the afternoon swooning over this girl Jane."
"A few years later, when I was sixteen, I had my first relationship with a girl called Helen," Michael continued.
Like many gay men. Best friend in school liked boys and girls.
More, please.
Total agreement with your reaction....well done !!
He is or was.. George Michael LEGEND !! ❤
Rest in Peace ❤❤❤
Rock Hudson one of the biggest leading men in Hollywood in 60's acyed all the time. He could NEVER tell anyone he was gay
so many actors and actresses during all those years
He was a beautiful man inside and out!
Such an unbelievable singer & above all else the writing. Gone way to soon. Freedom, Jesus to a child, one more try, my mother's brother are just few.
RIP ❤ what a talent and amazing human! Not many voices can come close to touching his.
Good music doesn’t care who or what you are,(neither do I) great is great!
BANGER 🔥🔥🔥 RIP George Michael handsome ❤️❤️❤️
Your reaction was genuine and hopefully people watch because of that genuine honesty. You also respectfully expressed your position without condemning anyone else. Please do “Freedom 90” a mesmerizing groundbreaking video by George Michael.
You just reacted to a TRUE LEGEND!!! His catalog is unbelievable. Was blessed to have seen him live in Los Angeles and what a FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE
That saxophone ryphe is iconic. Being used in movies and shows. George Michael wrote this when he was 17.
Such a beautiful song but hey I don't know a bad song by George Michael. Great reaction 👌 Peace Out! ✌️
Your speech about how you feel, and your acceptance or tolerance of others was off the wall. If only many others had your values. Incredible. Much love to you
He was still in Wham when he recorded this. His real solo career took off later.
Wonderful singer and from all reports a very decent human being
Still love this love song. It's very hauntingly beautiful.
Best slow dance back in the day. That sax gets me every time. Also he was acting out the song.
One of the greatest music stars ever
George wrote that song at 17 years old
❤
I miss his voice,his style

Love George Michael singing Kissing a Fool and The Long and Winding Road, brilliant musician, very kind and humble when interviewed. Miss him lots
Who cares who you love? Just be who you are, as long you don’t bother anyone else. Btw, I’ve loved Wham and George Michael (same birth year as me) through everything ❤️. George wrote and sang the most beautiful songs.
Nobody cares unless all you do is pushing your deviancy on kids etc
Never cared or thought about his personal life. Aways loved his music. So talented. ❤
Exactly 💯
Probably the most beautiful heartbreak song ever.
Wham! was a pop duo with George Michael as the lead singer and Andrew Ridgely as the guitarist, but Michaels had written this song when he was younger and had a vision for it.
Yes! George Michael had an absolutely gorgeous soulful voice! His solo releases were on another level beautiful. More please!
The amount of stellar songs in his catalogue is bonkers. Once in a generation talent. Check out the live performance with Queen.
George Michel wrote this song when he was 17
I love this reaction I love honest people who looks for the good in everyone awesome job
Always keep it real. If a "fan" doesn't agree that's their problem. They can walk away... you don't need them!
