Happy New Year.
Great video, I'm glad to see you are continuing to explore and grow.
Definitely a thumbs up for the video 👍🏽
Yeah we'll be around😂 it just takes a while to adjust.
Great summary and well compiled. Great to see you guys still out there. Have fun!
Thanks for talking about real issues, and your struggle. Super glad you delve into these topics. Also I really appreciated the drone footage of those stunning vistas. Well done.
I cannot tell you how badly I needed this. I am struggling with all of the same right now. I quit my corporate job in December after a mental break down and hospitalization realizing “I can’t live this way”, and I got a fully remote position that is still full time. I set a date for May 1, 2023 to begin life in a home on wheels. I bought my 1988 Vanguard Motorhome a few weeks ago and this week, I want to throw in the towel, I am so overwhelmed with figuring out internet, if I have enough solar, staying warm, where to sleep every night. Thank you for talking about rebelling the system, that is what I am struggling with I think, and seeing it as inherently bad. I resonated so much with that. I just want to live intentionally. I am wishing you both luck and safety and moment of bliss in the ordinary.
Wish me luck.
I know it feels so overwhelming right now--you're going through decision fatigue--but you'll figure this out too, just like how you've figured out so many other things. Every decision--switching jobs, buying the van, figuring internet/solar/etc., setting the date!!--they're all leading you closer to a life that is more attuned to your true self and your value of living intentionally. You are already doing it! And there will be bumps, tests, lessons along the way. It's okay to feel this way and if there's anything I learned, it's that nobody handles overwhelm gracefully. But we can always choose self-compassion afterwards, get back up, and keep choosing to live by our values.
So much self-discovery, joy, freedom, growth, and life await you on van life!!! Please don't throw in the towel just yet. One last sharing...I wish I hadn't pushed the discomfort of the overwhelm away as much as I did during van life. It was trying to teach me the lesson of slowing down, appreciating the journey, acceptance, detachment and I've only come to realize it after we settled back down. Bon voyage to you and wishing you all the best
@@RoadtoPitches I feel so very blessed to have gotten such a thoughtful reply from you. Thank you so so much. I am so grateful!
Awesome film. Seasonal affected disorder gets me too, I can only imagine how depressing winter was to our ancestors . Happy New Year .
Yeah imagine being cold and clammy all the time. Happy new year to you too!
When you said we would understand your reasoning for failure. I said out loud no! It's inside you. You just need to find it inside of you. I loved the background of the video. I have the greatest belief that 2022 will be a great year for those who step out of the comfort box to experience life. Hugs guys!
Sending you hugs back❤
👣🐾✌️🙏🖖 took me a year settle in . Now retired @ 50 and love’n vanlife . May the new year brings u more smiles then you have ever thought posable :)
thank you for being intentional and vulnerable and not dulling down the reality of van life, and also the reality of living life in general in modern society today. Reflecting on this stuff seriously helps reveal the directions you are really meant to go and how to navigate the wild journey. Stay safe and good vibes in 2022!
You scared me a little. I'm glad you're continuing it.
Thank you for sharing your discovery, and tip on life. It truly is about viewpoint.
Thank you so much for sharing your incredibly vulnerable story. You tackled a couple of real issues that we all face. Here's wishing you both an amazing 2022.
I completely empathize and have also gone through your process of discovery. It gets much easier, but it takes time. I'd realistically say 2-3 years before it becomes more relaxed and comfortable. But.... For me at least - searching for a place to stay is the most resource draining pain in the arse of van life. Especially in Canada. Ontario is (as I'm sure you are well aware) basically impossible, unless you're 5+ hours north of Toronto. Vancouver Island is where I've relocated to, but it's still not as easy as it is in the US. Hang in there! It'll get easier... I promise
Nice video and as others have said thanks for sharing the not so happy moments- and that you have over came them ~a never ending challenge. Hope you two carry a spray can of flex seal (yeah the TV stuff) in case another leak shows ups as that'd stink big time. Love the pic's of way up on a mountain, which 9 to 5ers would rush back and forth to do.
If you ever write a book I would want to read it! That was beautiful and sad at the same time you touched my heart ❤️ you a beautiful person inside out glad we met 🤗 wishing you a more relaxing and joyful year I hope you find happiness and feel whole with a great peace in your heart 🌟💫 safe travels ✌🏼
I agree, she spoke very eloquently. She has the makings of a good writer.
I am glad you were able to overcome your fears and continue your journey. The videos are awesome and I look forward to more of the same in 2022.
Cool story! It reminds me of the saying "wherever you go there you are" A couple years ago we tried the sailboat life but it was to difficult for us.. next we hope to try the van life in the Philippines. Freedom to experience and learn. Life is a school!
Slow down and smell the roses
We are never truly free ..we are social animals ..we can be free and independent only in some areas and how hard you are prepared to work toward that goal..best wishes .take small steps..keep moving in your mind..
Good video, eventually everyone drops out of full-time vanlife. I started at 20 now I'm 64. A good life . But the weather is more extreme now. I'm in a warm hotel now, pay by the month. Groceries next door. Enjoy your youth.
Did you spend 40 years on the road? Or with interruptions? Still sounds pretty impressive.
@@RoadtoPitches I'm a gold miner, spent all my time on a claim, except a couple years recovering from a cancer operation.
I totally get where you are coming from. 7 years ago I got so tired of the rat race and decided I wanted to do something different. I quit my job and went to Thailand. I tried to embrace myself in the culture and leave the "system" behind. It took me a long time, probably 6-8 months before I could relax and stop feeling guilty or like I should be doing something else. I ended up taking a teaching job working 24 hours a week and I was loving life. I would have still been there if not for this little thing we are all experiencing right now. So currently I am back in the system but I view the system a little different now and I am working hard to get myself back out of the system while I am still young enough to enjoy life. I hope you keep doing what makes you happy because at the end of the day that is the only thing that really matters. Life is short and the only thing we can never buy is time so use it wisely. Anyways I think I have rambled long enough lol.
What were your thoughts on "the system" back then and how did it change? We're really curious about other opinions... keep rambling😂
@@RoadtoPitches The system will never change, we just have to change ourselves.
Hello! this is one of the few campervan channels I keep up with and have been super inspired to make the journey out myself! One of the main reasons I follow you guys is because I want to convert a box truck, maybe one even taller/longer than yours. Framing the buildout seems easier and space is much wider to walk around compared to a sprinter or even school bus.
That being said, would you care to share some of the biggest challenges of having a box truck? Any specific challenges you faced with it? Thank you and keep persevering!
Hey so happy to hear that you enjoy our videos!
There's actually not much we struggled with. The biggest issue were leaks in the box. It seems like that's a really common issue with these boxes and it can be hard finding the source of a leak as the water can travel along the seams and appear far away from where it got in.
But other than that we really love living in this box. For us it's the perfect size. We still find parking spots easily because we're the same size as a big pickup truck.
Happy New Year to you both. I think everyone can relate to what you're saying. Things are not just crazy, they are very, very bad. I'm glad for you that you were able to find some contentment.
Happy new year and congratulations on your personal and as a couple growth in 2021. Your perspective on life is wise, and well beyond your years. A life is one worth living, your experiences are your own and your path is never set in stone. Whatever you do, it's right for you and it's absolutely a story worth sharing and being proud of. Maybe the call of the wild, adventure, beauty of nature has always been there for every generation, but we can choose how to value and balance that component in our lives, and have the tools to see so much more of it. Take what we need from the machinery of modern living and spend our time on what we care most about. Maybe one day working life will catch up with what we are all yearning for.
Awesome video guys. I started my van journey for very similar reasons to you. I'm 2 years into vanlife now and have gone through pretty much all of those same issues. But I think we will all come away from it better people because it truly is the challenges along the way that help us get in touch with our true selves and make us grow.
God cannot give us happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.

Loved this; it is brilliant the way you put this together. Thanks for letting us tag along.
Thank you, we're happy you enjoyed it!
#3 out of 7 with only my brother and me.. what does that mean?
My parents had a difficult time starting a family, but they stayed strong and eventually, I came along and then my brother! When I asked them why they wanted a second child so badly, they said, "We wanted to make sure you were never alone. The world is a tough place and now, no matter what, you'll have each other." 😭😭
Thank you for asking, Kuksmash.
You Guys should look to buy a little piece of land where you guys can camp :) build a little base camp to return to Every now and then ;)
It's been sitting on our minds, but have to find the right piece of property. I'm really impressed by @KrisHarbour (if you know him). So a property with a creek for a micro hydro would be cool.
I just hooked up with your vlog a few months ago and I've enjoyed your adventures and mishaps, I'm quite impressed on how you both have conquered the problems of being out on the road together. I'm about 40 years older than you two and there's no way I would have gotten involved in the hiking and climbing and working on the truck at the campsite. Parking lot at the parts store is the only way to go!!! I hope it's ok to mention this on your channel, I have also been watching another gal Anna Uncharted who has been on the road in her van this past year with her dog who had to get picked up by mom because of problems and after that she traveled alone. Take a look at some of her episodes when you two get a chance. I wish you both continued Happy Trails and keep that Truck A Rockin'.
Thank you! We'll check out her channel.
Maybe putting your hopes in the creator of the universe rather than the created universe will lead you to the freedom you are searching for
