- So, we've been messing with the 'Vette, got it over to BMS Tuning to hit the dyno. We had some hiccups, got them sorted, and the beast was purring like a kitten. Felt great, but the horsepower wasn't quite hitting what we expected.
We're on a mission to find out what's holding it back. Come along for the ride in this video and see us wrestle with the mystery. Hang tight, hit like, and subscribe for more! Let's roll!

oh man the ending is so sad. you guys have got this, hang in there
Build is still sick AF and also not done so keep your heads high and get some rest, come back to it another day with a fresh mindset. The long video edits are also so great nice job!!!!!
The only things that I can think of is perhaps valve float at the higher RPM's, Verify (degree) in the cam to know what you ordered is what you specified. Verify Push rod length with your setup to look for improper valve timing based on what you expect for that cam. I know this sounds stupid but check the main crank pulley timing marks to make sure they match reality. One last thing, I remember vaguely that if you use solid lifters the cam selection can be tricky to determine your "true" valve lift and duration. Hope you guys figure it out....
What heads they running?? I
The sad music at the end was gold.
This is a great video, very realistic as to how tuning a brand new build would go 👍
Do longer videos man, loved the whole build but longer videos would be a icing on the cake :)
We got you🤙🏼
Insane how much progress you guys make in such a short time, with videos being made at the same time.. so dailed in
🙏🏼🙏🏼
I have never seen anyone have success with an 8 to 1 header and as beautiful as they are always see them end up being removed.

Long tubes can nitrous LetzGo
Y’all got this! Must be something super simple holding you up!
It sounds so sick! Love the 8 to 1
sometime you win sometime you learn . I admire your work.
Ouch. Well it sounds insane and the good news is you’ve still built an incredible car. Still a rough day. You’ll figure it out ❤
Keep your head up! It'll get dialed in
Sounds really good!
all i can say is thank you! I am inspired to work on my vette again! Talking to Cagekits about making mine for my c5!!
such a bummer the car was not reaching the desired HP goals... Keep your heads up because that team has put together one crazy car
Still an amazing build! Might just take a couple more cracks and some track time to get a real feel and understanding of what she needs.. perhaps even another break away from the car and some fresh eyes and perspective. Chin up. She is a beauty
Bro... I believe you... 100% im sure you can fix that problem...
I subbed for the vette, it sounds incredible,
Oh dang, I love inboard brakes
Car is super sick can’t wait to see you shred in it
Plot twist: they didn’t recal the dyno for the new gearing so it was just reading low haha.
Welp... That's too bad you didn't get the numbers you were hoping for... Sounds amazing though, that's for sure!
Thats a tough one. Still sounds crazy and I'm sure it will get sorted out with time
This build is a work of art. The engineering on this build is insane. 🔥 🔥
Great effort and it sounds absolutely incredible. Knowing those heads, how they flow, the amount of volume they produce on the exhaust side, Large displacement, and High compression. You should try adding a 4” X pipe which would effectively double your exhaust volume. I’m sure you know the scavenging benefits of them as well. Worth a shot before you start hacking up the 8-1 any further.
Love from Texas!
It can be a lenght of the runners not matched to opening and closing valves times. I was a bit considered watching header bulid when you both were deciding "we will but the merge THERE". But why? Just cause fits here :) NA enignes are sensible on the timing of the intake and exhaust waves, not just the diameters.
Curious what cam specs are I know the Frankenstein ports are some the best at high lift in the business I know Riley stair ran a similar set up in his camaro that they took the 8-1 off and made more power with traditional style headers but might be able to get more insight from him on that But I doubt it’s the issue most of Riley’s gains were heat soak related if I’m not mistaken
chin up, everyone been there not very often things go as planned
Have you thought about over working the Coolbox with all that tire smoke?? Probably not going to be an issue I was just curious 🧐
So badass
Love to hear JimmyO lending you guys a hand. Seems like a solid person. Excited for this car tha ks for the content
from Alberta 👍
Well that was a sad ending.... could it be some binding in the power train? Not sure why but heard that once lool
If David Vizard or anyone he's taught didn't spec your cam, it's likely wrong in some way. Also, the only correct way to do an 8-into-1 is to fire it radially. What that means is take your firing order and run each respective cylinder from the firing order sequentially either clockwise or counter-clockwise into your collector, otherwise you'll have scavenging interference. This person knows what's up: ua-cam.com/video/ioEaIRaGl8c/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TrackDayClassics
Im sure yall looked into everything, but maybe double-check the cam degree if it has an adjustable cam gear?
Jimmy O? I wouldn't let that hack tune my lawnmower. Stay far far away from that hack and his laptop. You're in a different country and even thats not far enough away!
Why he a hack?
@@rowaldwousie5289 tell me one car build that he has tuned, that has had 0 issues? How many engines has he popped? Dialing in air/fuel ratio is not tuning. Hes a Walmart LZ and a target TJ Hunt, but he thinks he's the best thing ever. There for, he's a hack.
You say rip to headphone users, but that just means a good time!
So I guesseed 8500rpm right on FB :D
Nice
is it me or do the tyres look like they grow in the dyno at 19:10. watch the white reflection just above the tyre dissapear then reapear. the camera is fixed. Crazy
Yes it does, these pulls were around 170mph
Spinning in the dyno is why hub dynos are better
🤨
The problem is the throttle body is tiny.. My bike have 4 itbs from factory and their holes are bigger than those 4 you have there..
not the issue and probably just seems small on video. the throttle body is a 4500 series which flows 2150CFM it is 4 2.25" barrels. the biggest throttle body available for a standar intake is a 105mm which flows 1520CFM. this throttle body is more than capable to support the power
@@FDFraceshop you are right 2150cfm is more than enough..and 2.25" is bigger than my bikes..
What starter do u use
Dynos are heartbreaking bastards.
What heads you running?
May i ask how long your primery tubes are?
Im building 8-1 on a LS but struggling to get them shorter then 44,7”
34”
Awesome Build! But Please, Please Get Joe Simpson Of Tempst Motorsports, Matt Hapell Of Sloppy Mechanics, Kevin Of KSR, Or Jeremy Of FasterProms To Tune That Vette! Please...
P.S. Oh Yeah, By The Way, They All Do Remote Tuning!
Why is the ending so sad 😢
What kind of fuel are you using?
E85
Leroy?
Did you guys try a run without the air filter?
Yes, it made the same amount👍🏼
Are you using this car to compete in FD next year?
Probably not next year. It will go into FD eventually
whats the cam specs?
I feel like the valve lash is to tight
Call RPM.
Lose that air filter
i have a >? WHY A VETTE>? LEEROY is old car it looks like u copied CLEETUS dam why not cut up a stang>? a dodge a camaro or a miata and ls3 swap it something unique u might as well call cleetus and say sorry i copied ya car i had 300 other options but ya.....ahahaahahha j/p its still dope as fk~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This car is for competitive drifting. The corvette chassis is one of the best for it when done right.
