john: *talking about the racing alignment*
me: “smart dude”
john: “c6 is the most beautiful corvette”
me: “oh yeah this guy really knows his shit”
He knows his shit for sure. 50 plus years of racing
Tie with 7 BUT nothing, NOTHING, beats c6 3140# stock with 505hp. Best bang for buck on earth 👉💯
@@YOURpopsINthe305C6 ZO6 Is my attainable dream car. As you said nothing compares to that 7 liter small block with a 6 speed in that gorgeous body.😮💨
@@raidenborders5289 hell yeah dude, n, IF people actually studied cars, they'd realize this. Hey: im GLAD they dont, more c6 for us to choose from. There is no doubt this car is a true porsche 911 gt3 killer, but that in itself is a monumental achievement.

The amount of knowledge John was throwing at us in this video was awesome! 🤘🏾
knowledge? dude doesnt even know what transmission he has thats a TR6060 car
@@billbob9570 T56 was splashed on the screen but John never said that's what it has. 6:35 Also I didn't catch if they said what year but both 2006 and 2007 Z06s did in fact come with the T56. The 6060 didn't come out until 2008.
Yes extremely knowledgeable. First time I ever seen a rich guy with a huge car collection actually mention camber let alone understand it.
Incredible. I could watch a 15-hour video of John talking setups and driving.
"weighs 300 lb less" `actually weighs ~141 lb less, and the frame accounts for ~45lb of that savings
"go around a corner better than a gokart" mmmm errr, I guess in a journalistic opinion sort of way maybe?
"the further back the wing, the less wing you have to apply to get the downforce... because of fulcrum" Nope. Not quite how that works..
He may not be a technical whiz, but that's a cool, well put together car. And better yet, it looks like he actually thoroughly enjoys driving it.
Vettes are always awesome, but that license plate is golden
Squirrely 1000+ hp Vette? Bah humbug! I'll take one like this. Well sorted, planted to the ground and easy to push hard. This is the kind of machine that makes the driver look like a pro. I like it a lot.
And great production quality too.
Love seeing different variations on cars on the year. Would be super nice to see more track cars on the channel or hill climb builds, rally cars etc.
It’s in the plans for this year. Lots of creative meetings with the team over the past few weeks
"Many miles per hour" I love it haha. This is seriously the perfect daily, track, time attack car period. And what a cool guy and what an amazing museum. Lookin forward to the next one
This guy has forgotten more about racing than I’ll ever know. What great content. Thank you!
I love my track spec C6Z. One of the best platforms ever made and still setting time attack records.
I love him going into the weeds with the suspension and camber setup. It gives me ideas for my Z06's setup
Damn John I could listen to his technical talk
😂 I was lucky enough to ride in this car with John and its mind blowingly fun. Super cool guy, family and Museum!
They’re such a cool family and riding with John is a blast! Happy New Year Brian!!
Nothing sweeter then a car dialed in with a good Balanced suspension and drivetrain tuned and set to be driven without abusive behavior from the car... its a ride like most dont understand but once they experience that type of handling and ride with performance they fully competently understand, a car that doesn't handle properly and a driver that dont understand is a accident waiting to happen its always only a matter of time...
Beautiful setup on this car way to go and I so happy you did this maybe it will get these others to stop and think before they drive cars that only need some good tuned in suspension to make their cars a stable safer better ride to drive... ❤❤
Absolutely love how this C6 Z06 is so dialled in !
Heck of a car and one hell of a good driver. Man do I ever enjoy your work ALA !
Great build and definitely a great driver. Fun times shooting this one!
As good as the cars are, the real deal is Shaun and his crew. They get the most magnificent shots of the cars and the sounds that they make. Great work guys!!!
Thank you! My team is awesome
I agree. The C6 Z is the best looking modern Vette :-) Cheers from Canada
Sweet car. Small correction-Corvettes didn't get a composite rear leaf spring until 1981. Before that they were steel. Front transverse leaf springs were introduced in '84.
C6 Corvettes are king!!!! Love the 7.0 427!!! Timeless design👍👍👍👍💯🇺🇸
I went into this thinking; 'not my style, but I'll show my support to ALA by watching it.' Now I'm thinking;' WHAT A COOL RIDE, set up just the RIGHT way!'
That's what I love about this channel. As an 80s kid I'd watch Fox Body and 3rd Gen F body videos all day without channels like this.
Pure drivers car which I absolutely love!
Me to and came away learning a lot and sorry I sold my C6. As always great show! !!
Tbh the C6 Z06 is definitely top 3 criminally underrated sports cars. Basically this was the first time Chevy nailed it in a long time (at the time) so it flew under the radar.
Me 2!!! 👏👏👏👏@@AutotopiaLA
One of my favorite episodes
Awesome! And same for me
Love the C6. This one is a little too track oriented for me, but it's done right, and I appreciate the level of expertise that went into it. Everything was done with much thought and experience.
Top shelf video and loved every minute. Car, driver, host, editing... It all gels. Bravo
Thank you!
Just ordered my first T Shirt from you guys this week too. Cheers@@AutotopiaLA
Best episode ever! Like two best buds ! This guy's got worlds of knowledge!
20 year old in a old man's body!
Awesome stuff!!
This guy is awesome! You have to appreciate his knowledge for a car setup per track! Genius!
Excellent Explanation On This Modified Corvette, And What Makes Driving It Fast . . . . Larry Hernandez
For all you corvette haters out there. This zeds for you!!
Hard to hate this car
Long live the LS7
Another sweet ride from my favorite channel to watch! You and your crew do such a great job.
Thank you! We’re pushing to make our content better and better with every episode here
Truly a next level episode for the channel. Excellent job! Documentary level without missing the essence of AutotopiaLa.
My favorite year for the Z06, just how square the setup looked and how it performed out of the box. This one goes to 11 though. Super rad.
Heck of a driving lesson learned something new.
He’s a former pro driver. Lots of fun riding with John
Great episode! I could just sit and listen to John talk race cars all day! What a wealth of knowledge that man has!!
I was already wanting a C6 Z06 now I really want one.
Man that just makes me want to build my C6 up. Such a badass ride.. Thanks for this video..
Thanks for watching and this is a proper set up for driving
That’s why we left Southern California. Where we live now it’s kind of like California was 50 years ago with no restrictions it is a total blessing and your Ca. Dollar goes along way out here. Again love your show keep up the good work and be safe. That GTR was killer I laughed so hard watching your facial expression I had tears rolling down my face
That GTR freaked me out! And it’s getting harder to stay here everyday. I love our weather, landscape and car community plus all my family is here but it’s just getting worse daily
24:32 "I don't know what it is, it just makes me smile." -Sean
It's a Corvette Sean. That's what they do!
lol!
I understood it all because thats how i setup my cars suspension for Limerock park. Great video!
The editing (especially the intro) is top notch!
Thanks. We’re pushing to up the quality of what we do and our editor is a badass!
This Guy definitely knows Wat he's talking about, he can tune my car anytime...😎
Love the videos brother! Beautiful car…..makes me proud I own one.
Thanks and they’re such good cars
Atomic Orange for me :-)
Has to be my favorite video so far, the information and reactions were the greatest
Awesome! It was a blast riding with John in this car and I only pee’d once lol!
This guy is a hero 11:29
Guarantee the rod went through the block because it had factory linamar heads. Every LS7 has potential cylinder head problems. Most people wont even buy a used C6 Z06 or Z28 if the previous owner didnt send the heads out or get new aftermarket ones. West Coast Cylinder Heads is a great company for LS7 heads.
There's better out there. Factory Castings, even "fixed", will eventually fail again. Frankenstein, AI, and Iron Mask is where it's at for LS7 Heads.
Blah blah blah 😅
TY for the info, Planning on getting one someday!
That looked like a lot of fun.
Happy New Year Everyone
Happy New Year to you
Total blast! Happy New Year!
Great looking car. I'm amazed at the variance between the left and right suspension camber settings despite the target track having a greater number of left hand turns. The increase in spring rates sounds minimal but it is very much needed on the C6 for track work. Great video and great insight by the owner/builder!
Wow I'm hooked. John just keep talking.
Greatttt point about he posi . That is some important information many dont know especially a road racer.
Great point and makes a lot of sense
This is how a properly built corvette should handle and sound. No need for super loud and raspy exhaust. Them yellow vettes in Le Mans series is what really did it for me.
That is a definite track weapon. Silent but deadly
Exactly
............hmmmmmmm, Did someone get a new video editorrrrrrrr? lol fawk'n SICK video my dudes ! !
Same editor just turned him loose to show what he can do. The goal is to take the channel to a whole new level. Thanks for noticing!!
Love those tight corners!!! One of the things I love about driving my Mustang is taking turns so quick!
Marconi is really got Shawn puckering!!! 😈😈🤪
What a monster of a car!!! The grip just looks insane on camera. And love the lessons on suspension, it’s awesome. Great video!!!
John can drive and he sure taught us all a lot about suspension, caster & camber
Nice build. Very similar to mine. Such a blast on track.
Awesome! Perfectly balanced imo
Love guys like John who are smart smart guys telling what is behind the blend of technology geared towards the driver enthusiast
Performance per cubic dollar still cannot be beat with the corvette.
Agreed
C6 is the GOAT. What a great example of a well built track car. That Grand Sport is sweet too!
I learned some stuff watching this episode. Something I already knew is you can build an American car and keep up with the expensive exotics for a fraction of the cost.
Great intro, excellent camaras angle, happy New Year to everyone!!!!🎉
Thanks for noticing! Lots of creative meetings leading up to 24! Happy New Year!
You started the drive with an "oh shit face" but by the end it was more of a "Hell Ya face."
Cool Episode! I like the longer videos, it's more of what I want to watch.
Thanks for the input on longer vids. It helps as we continue to evolve and grow the channel. And hell yes on this Vette with John driving!!
GREAT INTRO!
Thanks for noticing. Turned out editor loose and he killed it!
@@AutotopiaLA yeah he did! 👏🏻👏🏻
Also , I LOVE that license plate 😂😂😂👌🏽
Power to weight masterpiece
That’s some driving right there
8:11 😅 yeah buddy........ Awesome shawn ...... Greetings from india🇮🇳🤠🤠🤩🤩🤘🏻🙌 superb
Happy new year shawn 🎉🎉
Thank you and Happy New Year!
C6 Z06 is a beast. I had one when they were brand new. Great build for sure. Would have loved to have developed the suspension like this one.
Enjoyed the history and the ride along; SUBSCRIBED...
FIRST:
Happy belated New Year!!!
SECOND:
HOT DAMN!!!!!
The Marconi’s have the best cars! This car is ultimate! What a way to start the new year! 🔥 🔥 🔥
Perfect start to the New Year and you know we’re just getting started!
I learned a few things listening to this guy, proper way to setup a car 👊🏼
He knows a thing or two!
The sweetest C-6! 👍
As a guy that drives a 99 FRC with very similar modifications done dialed down for back roads, autox and some mild track days..His car is absolutely amazing.. Everything he said was 100% correct..Driving a property set up Vette at that power level is best bang for the buck..Love the review and all the wisdom he shared..Great Video!!!..👍🏽🏁
John educated a lot of us in this video on proper car set up with reasons why. Loved shooting this one!
Absolutely awesome content! John is crazy knowledgeable, and seems like a blast to be around.
I had a 606HP Callaway Corvette. Callaway builds a quality vehicle. I love Corvettes your only allowed one mistake. Great episode and an amazing Corvette. Brings back many memories and thrills. Keep up the great work. James
I had to double-check to make sure I was watching an autopia LA video
Yessir! Lots of creative meetings the past few weeks to upgrade what we do
This episode was great, badass corvette with a super cool driver full of knowledge
The GRINS say it all. I have a c5 with 597rwhp. About to do the tire setup soon....
Great video! I grew up in Irvine and learned how to drive back in Trabuco canyon. Bitchin Vette , great museum and cool people.
I grew up in Modjeska and drove those roads daily! This was a fun time
Excellent job presenting a phenomenal car!
Like you Shawn I am not a roundy round hot rodder but I do recognize and respect the quality of this build.
I love a well balanced car like this Vette
U guys had a great time.
This is an awesome video, John is so knowledgeable and passionate about driving and car set up.
Wow. Absolutely great video! the race knowledge and technical expertise is epic... just wow. Thank you Autotopia LA
This is what I like . Non traction limited with ENOUGH hp + light + suspension + aero for useable power to go fast , not a car that IS fast a car that can be driven fast and with a good pilot can scare a passenger more then a 1200 wheel HP car going " straight " that needs to be pedalled . Something you can run up in most situations without too much worry like this on public roads when dry and a car where you stay in it to sqaure it up , which as he noted is basically a cardinal rule , dont panic and let out if you expect to recover from oversteer and particularly a car set up right that handles better the faster you go and when you load it up . Hearing about the guy who flipped his car , you wonder what he is doing on that track to make such a mistake . You need to take a car like that some place open and get it out of contol where there are no consequences a bunch and get used to that feeling and no panic so you dont cause a tank slapper / snap oveersteer / mustang leaving event . Knowing the car your driving is way more important then the car itself for most people , a great driver can drive almost anything fast the same way a great guitarist can pick up a 100.00 or toy guitar and make it sound good but if your not that you ned to know your instrument/ tool a bit to get something good from it . Know your tires as well which would be similar to playing with different string guages perhaps .
Never realized what a LIGHTWEIGHT Shawn is behind the wheel. He needs to go to a driving school and adress his fears.
Public roads, someone else’s car…simple respect for all scenarios. And like anyone else, I can always learn more about driving but I’m always mild driving other peoples cars which is why just about everyone allows me to drive their stuff
@@AutotopiaLA I can respect that. Everyone I let drive my car, babies it, I have to TELL them to step on it. Remarks officially withdrawn.
i liked that guy from the first right turn lol sean needed new undies after that filmimg😆
That first right turn set me up for what was coming lol!
Good job keep them coming I love what you are doing
Thanks and lots more coming
Great video , really enjoyed modified Vette 👍
Absolutely awesome way to start off the year brother
Thanks and Happy New Year!
Think this is the best track build Corvette I seen. Can see more and get more detail on the car build
Love the vettes and this is just sick
It’s a bruiser!
I 100% agree, the c6 is the best looking corvette. Z06 and zr1 was the best they ever made.... only problem with my c6 z06 is that there's not a c6 zr1 next to it.
Very nice C6! Love the car love the video!
Thank you and what a car!
First class!!
You make a great team
Beauty Vette. Luv the Plate.
Good eye on the plate which is fitting for this ride
woow ese corvette esta increíble
Happy New Year. Glad your back. Another great video has always. What a awesome car Collection. Love the red that is a beautiful car. Would love to drive it.
Thank you! Happy New Year to you too and yes…this is a perfect track weapon
Wicked~Awesome vid to start the new year! Thanks for sharing.🔥🤘🏻🏴☠️
Thank you!
i want to be like him when i grow up
Me too!
Hey, man, welcome back after your brief hiatus and Happy New Year. Would love to meet Mr. Marconi and see his collection. First class guy and to build that big of a performance car with that little of a budget (relatively speaking) is beyond impressive. He knows his stuff.
Thanks and yes…John is a great guy, great driver and I feel lucky to be friends with him. Needed the break but we’re back at it!
Awesome track Corvette Well sorted for its purpose Happy New Year 🎉😁👍👍🤙
It’s spot on and Happy New Year to you as well!
