This is one of their masterpieces, and an early one, at that! It's early proof of Adam Rupp's full musical talents -- his arrangement is complex and magnificent. I listen to this often, regardless of the time of year. Even in October! And Tim's low notes, live, are just as amazing. Love your reaction to this one, especially!
There was a video called 22 times Tim Foust went Subwoofer mode..clips of live performances. Might be fun for you to watch even on your own to appreciate Mr Tim 😊.Enjoying HF Christmas - thank you!
When Adam brought this to the guys, they turned it down because it was too complex. Then they finally changed their minds, but said they'd record it but there was no way they'd ever sing it live. Nowadays, it's one of their standards at Christmas concerts. The thing that strikes me about Adam's arrangements is they're very confident about what his fellow band members can do (that 5 octaves in 5 seconds part) and they're very instrumental oriented, as in he's treating the voices like instrumental parts. This is probably the most complex a cappella arrangement I've ever heard and it blows my mind every time.
This wasn't a Christmas song that I especially cared for prior to this Home Free version. This is, to me, spectacular. So complex and beautiful. Adam's arrangement of this is awesome. He also arranged Honey, I'm Good. I wish he would arrange more because he clearly has a gift for it. I watch this video all year round because it's too good to save just for Christmas. Sometimes when I hear music that is so, so beautiful, it makes my heart hurt in a good way. Home Free's music does that to me on a regular basis. This is one of those songs. As usual, you provide a great reaction. Thanks.
Same. I've never liked this song because it's so repetitive ... until now! Home Free is notorious for making us like things we never did before, though.
Their producer/engineer, Darren Rust, is a master!!! As a singer himself, he has a unique perspective on how their stuff should sound. And it always comes out amazing!
I told you...nobody does Christmas like Home Free! They are so incredibly talented, but when it comes to Christmas music, they knock it out of the park. ❤
This is one of my favorite Christmas songs from the guys. They are amazing. Adam did a great arrangement. I wouldn't mind at all if you went back and did...Man Of Constant Sorrow...again. I listen to it a lot anyway. Thank you.
Love this one too! The arrangement is by Adam. The boys say they don’t use his arrangements too often as they say they’re too complicated. I love it. So creative and clever. They were in an ice castle in Minnesota and I don’t know how the walls didn’t tumble down with Tim’s low notes. Hahaha. Good reaction Jeremy!🥰
This is the group that won the Sing Off season 4. Chris Rupp left to pursue other musical things and was replaced by Adam Chance. They have been stable since that. Note that at one point they do the same phrase in 4 different octaves. This is truly one of their masterpieces.
I agree with all of your "wows"! This is definitely in my top three favorites of theirs. It might be number one, but it's just so hard to say! Depends on the day. It's great when they do it live, too. They're all just really incredible musicians, not just singers. This song is the whole package for me. Aside: When you listen to it again (and I bet you will), you'll notice more things each time. It's really fun to just follow Tim's bass line throughout, too, especially how it plays off Adam's percussion. What a talent they both are, and just so stinkin' accurate, it's not fair! Great reaction!
My favorite Home Free song as well! Love it! Adam did an AMAZING job arranging this song! It's filmed at the ice castle in Minnesota. So perfect! I read that after this song the guys wouldn't let Adam arrange anymore songs because it was so complicated. He truly is a genius!!!!❤❤❤ Now that you do know them so well you should do a reaction to their cover of Mayday. You'll love it😊😊😊.
I completely agree with you! Happy news, I did Mayday a few months back when the channel was pretty new and I didn't know Home Free as well...now I have nearly 80 HF reactions!! Here is Mayday if you want to see: ua-cam.com/video/tphzDzoiF4o/v-deo.html
Its always good when Tim summons the dragon! I like your reaction when he catches you off guard, this one gets everyone! Awesome reaction as always, thanks
I have seen them perform this live and Tim goes so low! My other favorite is Joy to the World, but they never officially recorded it. There is a live performance Hosana concert. Rob is wonderful in that song.
This has never been one of my favorite Christmas songs, but Home Free made me love their version! It's simply a masterpiece arranged by Adam. Thanks Jeremy. 🖤🍟
Adam Rupp is a magician with arraignment. The intricacies of counterpoint in the vocal elements are kind of like listening to a Bach Fugue. With the accompaniment of vocal and percussion elements spinning out endlessly, what could easily descend into chaos, instead becomes a beautiful intertwining of textures and sounds, WOW. So much going on, but blending seamlessly. Musical Alchemy is the only description that even come close. Glad to see you enjoy this as much as I did. Love your reactions. Say Hi to Ninja and thanks for the support given to you so we can see them. Merry Christmas in July. What a cool break from the Summer heat . 😅
In a live video called "Tim Foust's vibrations" - Tim literally shakes the venue. While everything is shaking, Adam & Austin just keep on singing & dancing - truly astonishing to watch.
If you want to continue a Christmas in July theme, try these songs, Cold Hard Cash and Full of Cheer. I think they are originals for Home Free. Also a couple of fun songs you might like are Crazy Life and Sunday Best. Have a great day!
I KNEW you were going to love this one! Hooray! 😀 YES! I would LOVE for you to do a second reaction to "Man of Constant Sorrow." Also, I don't see that you've reacted to "Dreamer." It's fabulous! You need to hear Tim LIVE! 😀If you think they're good this way, you really, really need to see and hear them all live. It's WONDERFUL!
I’ve seen them do this live twice and I got chills each time. I still do every time I listen to it. My favorite song by Home Free. Adam did an amazing job on this one
I never EVER liked this song until I heard this version now (like Linda) I listen to it all year round. It's become one of my favorite Christmas songs. The guys said it was the most complicated arrangement they've ever done. Now if they could make me like The 12 Days of Christmas they would truly be miracle workers lol.
Thank you for sharing so much, at the end of the video they tell the location and tell that Adam arranged this one. There is a video floating around where the equipment necessary for Tim's lows is mentioned, might be one of the behind the scenes.videos.
My wife and I have seen them in concert twice. As an encore, they did Ring of Fire. At the end when Tim hits that "Bass Note From Hell," you feel it through your entire body, starting in your chest and radiating outward. It's AWESOME!
For me one of the best arranged songs, or perhaps the best, of Home Free. So impressive! The so great harmonies, the sound effects, colors, etc. in such a beautiful but cold scenery. When I saw and heard this for the first time, I did repeat it a few times. Just amazing.
This was recorded right across the freeway from where I previously lived, so very familiar with the frigid, snowy MN conditions. Minnesotans Chris, Adam and Rob pretty unfazed. Southerners Tim and Austin not too thrilled. For having watched reactors for a long time, revisiting the various HF vids through new eyes of those just now discovering the guys always gives a fresh perspective. Not uncommon to see or hear something not noticed before. If you choose to rewatch any of your earlier videos, chances are it'll be a totally different experience.
This has always seemed like a very long, drawn-out song, but Home Free has made it special again. I love all of the beatboxing, the highs and lows, the setting. It’s the perfect Christmas gift 🎁 Thank you for sharing this today!
I don’t really like Christmas music but this is amazing! I don’t know if you have reacted to it, but Tim’s solo version of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay gives a glimpse of the soundboard during recording. Chris Chatham typically produces Tim’s music, from what I can gather. Chris Chatham also played guitar on So Long Dixie and collaborates with both Tim and Austin. He’s another a cappella singer (Blue Jupiter ?) who mostly does other things now.
This was one of the first ones I watched when I found them, this and O' Holy Night, both of them just blew me away! Been a Home Fry ever since. There are some videos out there on YT of them singing with no mics, they are still amazing.
I absolutely love this version. I always loved the song but this is just so spectacular, like you said. I saw the raw emotion on your face and how it was moving you. And how can you not love all of them...including "Tim Foust"!!! hahahaha
Such an exceptional arrangement by Home Free's own wizard and incomparable vocal percussionist, Adam Rupp ⛄🪄🎄 And such a nice treat to hear Chris Rupp's smooth baritone getting some focus❣️🎼🥰🎶♥️
YASSSSSSSS!!! That is EXACTLY the reaction I expected and was waiting for! Thank you!! I watched for the "Tim Foust" to come through, and you did not disappoint! Lol (Love that!) I've watched their rendition of this song so much, I can't hear it any other way! I appreciate you! Continued blessings! ❤❤❤
I listen to this version all the time. I never would listen to Christmas carols before but home free makes it so much fun and beautiful. Almost makes me like Christmas again.
This is my all time favorite xmas song just because of this version! The talent here is untouchable! And yes I listen to it throughout the year lol. Glad to see ya liked it so much!
Seeing how much you liked Tim in this one, go take a listen to "My Church" where he literally enhances the whole thing. No FX on Tim's vocals. He has been known to blow speakers on tour.
One of my favs! Fun fact, I lived a couple mins away from where they filmed it at the Ice Castles in Eden Prairie, MN. I wish I was a Home Fry back then, but alas I did not know about them yet!
The minute you say "that was my favorite", the next one me will be your favorite!!! To hear them live, well, I'm still recovering! It's unlike anything I've heard, better than their videos!!! ❤
This is definitely in my top ten Home Free songs, as others have said, its a masterpiece. Thank You again for reacting to our guys, you're absolutely 100% a Home Fry & we love having you in the family. ❤️🍟
This song was actually arranged by then Adam Rupp. They were at the traveling ice castle in Minnesota. I do believe that was Chris on the bass at the beginning. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
That "Let us bring Him silver and gold" is about a two octave drop by Tim. And how long he can hold that low note, too! Wow! There is a live performance on YT where Tim has to take Austin's high part in this song as well as doing his bass. It was during December 2022, but I'm not sure whose channel it is on. It was recorded by a fan. If anyone else knows the exact link, please add it here so Jeremy can watch it.
They have a Christmas tour coming up. If they are anywhere near you I would try and go. I'm sure they do some stuff in production, but if you ever see them live they are just as impressive live.
Yeah, this has to be in my top 2 for HF. It's brilliant. I heard that Adam doesn't do more arrangements for them because they are too complex. Also, I don't think they have to do much with mixing Tim's voice. You have to watch him sing "Ring of Fire" live on the tv competition "The Sing Off", in which they won. It sounds exactly the same. The trick is how he uses the microphone.... and his thick booming voice. I think it's time you went through the episodes of The Sing Off. There are two versions one with just the songs and one with the full episodes.
I had a feeling you would love this one. I enjoy seeing you react to it almost (but not quite) as much as I enjoy this song. I have always loved it, but Adam outdid himself with the arrangement, and the rest of the guys did with the execution. Thank you for another great reaction!
Thanks for your reaction, Jeremy. I'm sure this has been recommended, but in case you missed it, go listen to the interview of Tim with Peter Barber. It's long, so not a reaction video but i think you'd enjoy the insight from Tim into his bass world. And you must go see them live. I've only been able to go to two Home Free concerts but will be there again as soon as they're within driving distance! I've seen Tim Foust and Friends/Sweet+Low Music Co three times in more intimate settings and I highly recommended both.
This version has too many superlatives to adequately describe it. I absolutely love this version. Nothing else like it. So beautifully complex. Definitely one of my top favorites! I saw them perform this live, and Tim's "gold" note hurt my ear it was so low! Adam outdid himself in the arrangement and vocal percussion. Yes, please revisit Man Of Constant Sorrow!
Thanks for another great Christmas 🎵 a favorite of mine as well. Adam definitely did a fantastic job on this one. When i first heard this I was afraid that Tims lows and Austins highs might have the walls of that ice sculpture tumbling down😂 Would love to have you redo Man of Constant Sorrow. ❤✌
This is one of my favorite Home Free songs too, probably the only Christmas song I actually listen to at any time of the year . And yep I'd be interested to see you revisit Man of Constant Sorrow :)
I knew you would like this one ❤, esp. Tim! Yes, that was Chris singing bass, I would love to watch a revisit of Man Of Constant Sorrow😊 I'll bet you can contact Tim and find out what you want to know about the production.
Great reactions Jeremy, I watched all of your songs last night. Was a little late to post anything then. Just wanted to say thank you to GiGi and Terri for requesting these songs. They are my all time favorite Christmas songs by Home Free. Have to admit, I had never heard the Christmas Medley, but it was perfect as always. Have to agree with you about seeing Christmas decorations and ads popping up on the TV before Halloween. They have pretty much ruined Christmas for me as well. It's all about the money now days!!
This was Adam's project...arrangement and everything. He did a spectacular job with it. You need to check out some of their stuff live and you'll get a feel for how much is purely the guys. If you don't have it on your list of Christmas music, you must include Mary, Did You Know...has now become my most favorite carol of all. Enjoying Christmas in July!

By all means, please re-do Man of Constant Sorrow. That will be fab. Great reaction as always. These guys are so fabulous!!

Adam does not arrange much because the guys says they love his arrangements but they are to crazy / difficult
Same!!
Same!
I didn't know Adam arranged HIG! No wonder it's in my top 3.
Adam is a technical/musical genius. 'nuff said.
Amazing! Adam Rupp arranged this one. I think it would be cool to hear what you think of man of constant sorrow now.
❤
Ditto!
Their producer/engineer, Darren Rust, is a master!!! As a singer himself, he has a unique perspective on how their stuff should sound. And it always comes out amazing!
The guys even call him the 6th member!
Also, one of my top three. Shocked that you haven't done "Take Me Home Country Roads" yet. May end up your favorite.
They still perform this live on their Christmas shows. It was fabulous, when I heard them sing this. Great reaction.
I told you...nobody does Christmas like Home Free!
They are so incredibly talented, but when it comes to Christmas music, they knock it out of the park. ❤
I play this year round. Adam's arrangement is evident in the musical interludes, I feel like it takes me on a different trail every time
This is one of my favorite Christmas songs from the guys. They are amazing. Adam did a great arrangement. I wouldn't mind at all if you went back and did...Man Of Constant Sorrow...again. I listen to it a lot anyway. Thank you.
Jeremy everything they do is beautiful, I’ve seen them in person and Tim sounds just like that he can break speakers😍
The joke was Tim would cause the ice sculpture to crack and fall. Great job Adam Rupp did on the arrangement.
Love this one too! The arrangement is by Adam. The boys say they don’t use his arrangements too often as they say they’re too complicated. I love it. So creative and clever. Summon the dragon...lol!

I can listen to their version of this song 365 days a year + that extra during leap year!!! It is a brilliant and beautiful cover…nope…UPGRADE!!!

There are some off mic live performances on YT. Their version of Helplessly Hoping live at the Ryman comes to mind.
Yes, Man of Constant Sorrow reaction 2.0!!!!❤❤❤❤

So my favorite Christmas song of theirs. Oh Holy Night and Snow Globe right up there too. Tim wrote Snow Globe. It’s great!
Second both of these!
Even Yoda got in on the Tim Foust filter 😂😂😂 I cracked up! Excellent choices for Christmas in July! 🙌🏻

That "Let us bring Him silver and gold" is about a two octave drop by Tim. And how long he can hold that low note, too! Wow! This is one of my favorite Home Free songs too, probably the only Christmas song I actually listen to at any time of the year . And yep I'd be interested to see you revisit Man of Constant Sorrow :)
Would love to hear a man of constant sorrow again. Thanks.
My absolute favorite Christmas song! I listen to it all year. And yes, please do another reaction to Man of Constant Sorrow.
My favorite!
This one ALLWAYS start christmas for me :D
I knew you would like this one ❤, esp. Tim!
Yes, that was Chris singing bass,
I would love to watch a revisit of Man Of Constant Sorrow😊
I'll bet you can contact Tim and find out what you want to know about the production.
97 degrees here.....Merry July! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great reaction! And yes, I would *love to see you re-visit some of the videos you saw before you knew the band's work so well. :)
Christmas coms sooner every year! Let’s have one before the other people!!😤. But this song is too 😎! The environment and their version is epic!!
You just met Tim in his Dragon form. He can, and has, rattled venues from the floor to the rafters.
This is my favorite too!
