Very cool. I’m French so I talk with my hands a lot. I picked up the Stream Deck Pedal - I can totally see me using the left and right pedals to move forward and back and the center one to toggle between text, display modes. Excellent video!
Watching your videos aside from being most helpful and are very well thought out to anticipate questions and people your are providing the videos for reflect as best you know things that they may experience. You simply don’t want to be like many content creators, not to speak badly towards them, simply do not how to be a very effective teacher. They should watch your videos and learn. Finally, something you can’t teach or market….and that is your truly natural most wonderful personality that reflect your enthusiasm and avoid wasting time with unnecessary information, which is a reflection of your preparation which I call professionalism. Sorry p.s Your comments about the software on the teleprompter is definitely not reflective of the deep design efforts overcoming peoples frustrations and develop a great product. That effort in determining software that would be proud of for such a wonderful hardware product…..was not done and so obvious. I don’t have one but that shortcoming is out there….thank you, Charlie Nielson

You just sold me this product! Especially when you gave examples and using the stream deck! I use a lot of scripts when doing guides. Forgetting my lines was always an issue. This is amazing
This is amazing!! Thanks for your thorough run-down and tips. I hadn't invested in a teleprompter before because it seemed so complicated with all of the separate parts you needed to have. You've solved a huge problem.
This is awesome! I heard about it on MacBreak Weekly last week but loved getting this demo (your demos are always so helpful). Thanks and keep up the great work!
Great overview. This looks like a really great piece of equipment. I’ve been using the Parrot for years and have loved it, but this looks excellent. Integrating the foot pedal is a brilliant selling point for me.
I’ve been very impressed with Prompter, and also the integration with their Pedal and the Streamdeck. It makes for a less stressful interview in eCamm.
9:20 Have you tried the following? 1. double click and hold the second click on the paragraph, then move the part you want 2. select the text you want and move it up and down (try placing the cursor between the two paragraph icons or texts to create a new paragraph in between) 3. right-click on the paragraph icon By the way, thanks for sharing this!
Ordered mine as soon as I saw it. The perfect solution for me - good on Elgato to see this need and fill it so well. Will replace my existing monitor-topped webcam with a paper script mounted underneath it. Now the only challenge is waiting for it to arrive. Looks like December at the earliest. Website said January, but their videos said it would be sooner. Hopefully so. Thanks for this look at the system, Cat.
One thing to knock it out of the park is to add voice recognition scrolling. Basically it listens to what you're saying, matches it up with the prompt text and then scrolls as you read each word.
I've definitely tried a voice-recognition scrolling before. It was great until I said a word that was used a few times and it jumped to another section on me! But that was a few years ago, so I'm hoping the tech has improved. I'm not sure if Elgato will add that, but you could use a different script-reading software with this prompter using the display mode.
The best option for a display for 'most' teleprompters is a camera monitor. They come in all sizes, have simple HDMI in, and most importantly, have the 'flip' option built in without the need for external software. This is awesome thought, especially the single cable and prompter software built in. It definitely simplifies the setup. It's also great that there's a hole for the lens and it doesn't solely rely on a black curtain to block light.
Great review. I was just trying to figure out how to move my Glide Gear 100 with Lilliput monitor to the standing desk so it would move with me but OMG no. This looks awesome. No more Manfrotto-this or Small-Rig that to do crazy things. Just pre-ordered.
The size & weight is a huge advantage with this one! You could easily mount it to a desk. I plan to eventually buy a proper sit-stand desk, and I'll connect everything to the desk.
Yes, they nailed this one!! And it is probably cheaper than building your own similar system. I have an inexpensive teleprompter and a field monitor but I think I might ditch that because of the convenience of Elgato software! (no annual subscription fee and it will just get better over time!) This looks amazing! Once you pointed out the Stream Deck connection, I am sold. Going to go get on that backorder list right now. Although a bit expensive, for mounting, I use an Impact Pivot (friction) Arm with a Super clamp. It can handle the weight and be shifted around easily. I can keep it off to the side semi permanently, or move it right in from of me for a Zoom call.
This is cheaper than what I paid (about $500 CAD with the $200 teleprompter & $300 monitor). Sounds like you have a high quality mount! I'm a little envious of the swivel 😂
Thank you for the video. Very helpful. I'm not in the market for a teleprompter right now but I hope that will change in the next few months. Glad to see there's something out there that's compact, inexpensive, and does so much.
A Desview T2 teleprompter with a Feelworld T7 plus would cost you about $200. But it’s a 7” screen compared to a 9” and you don’t get the nice integration out of the box that Elgato does offer. So it seems like a good proposition and your video is excellent.
Me too. I've built several camera rigs with Desview prompters (currently using the newer T3) and I'm not that impressed with a built in display on the elgato. Lots of people also do the same thing with a 10" or 12" Lilliput display. However, the value of the Elgato Prompter for price IS pretty good with all the accessories they include for mounting including a webcam option. Webcam option is good for a simple corporate meeting room option .
@@CatMulvihill yes! I’ll buy one for sure! I’m in Australia- higher price in AUD , but I see it will be absolutely worth the investment! Thanks for great videos.
Excellent video, thank you Cat! I am going to buy this teleprompter, for sure! I wrote to Elgato about six months ago asking them whether they were planning a prompter. They kindly answered that they would record my suggestion, but they did not mention that they were already working on this new product hahahahaha I love especially the fact that it fits perfectly into the Elgato ecosystem! Great product! And your review is just perfect, very clear and comprehensive!
This looks like a great alternative to many teleprompters out there! I would only hesitate to get it if you rely on a prompter outside of a studio/desk setup. If, for example, you use it to do presentations "off-site" where you can't be tethered to a computer, then using a traditional one that has the option of accepting a phone or table is still probably the best choice.
Sold! I never thought of needing this type of gadget but you’re so charming in demonstrating this product that I am curious to buy one ! You’re simply amazing 🎉! Who are you? I am a new fan, whatever your are producing!👍
Looks very good. The prompting software needs to have voice recognition to control scrolling. I'm not sure how the camera is recorded, but I hope it takes care of the audio as well.
I'm not sure what Elgato has planned for the script software, but you could use a different script reading software with the display mode. As for the input, the camera connects to your computer, so it's not connected to the Prompter itself.
@@CatMulvihill I didn't see in any video the relationship between camera tripod and teleprompter. Does the tripod attach to the camera or the teleprompter?
@@livestylebr it can do either, actually, depending on your camera. I'm working on a follow-up video to answer questions, so I'll include more details about mounting!
Hey! Cat thank you so much for all the content you are making. It is really helping me a lot over the years, and inspiring to make my own videos, keep it up!
Terrific. A question on the "slide in's" at the bottom for each topic. Are those individual items with individual buttons on the streamdeck? (eg, Camera Hub, Stream Deck Integration) Or do you have a list that advances through them? maybe someone can point me to where you cover that? Thanks for so much amazing content!!!
Cat, you have nailed it with this one! I have a Glide Gear 100 and Lilliput monitor, and I dislike the same issues you mentioned about your setup. I am most definitely going to replace the heavy clunker, although I love the functionality I FINALLY got with lots of time, effort, and occasional bad language. Thank you for the deep dive!🥰
All those headaches figuring it out were worth having a functional teleprompter. BUT, I would have much rather had this one from the start! The only thing to mention is that your Lilliput likely has a higher resolution than the Prompter display (1024x600), so keep that in mind if you are sharing your display.
I'm so jazzed-this has been on my wishlist for ages! (I currently have the little mini prompter from podcaster that works with my phone as the monitor, and it's awesome, but I really want to be able to see my calls in it-and not have to use my phone 🤪) I ordered this new Elgato rig yesterday but it looks like I'll have to wait until December to get it as it's currently on back order. I'd love to see it integrate with Google Docs for scripts (or maybe it already does?) but I'm even more excited to know that I'll be able to switch between the prompter and the display with the push of a button. TOTAL HOME RUN!!!!! Thanks for the overview, Cat!
Great suggestion about integrating with Google Docs (and more) for scripts. I know some more established script software does that. Right now it's quite basic, but hopefully it's on the roadmap!
Thank you for reviewing this so quickly. This prompter looks amazing and I can't wait to connect it to my stream deck+ and pedal. It makes me wonder where to position it: on top or beside my widescreen monitor?
You could test both options to see what you like. Since I stand for most of my live presentations, I chose above, but I think to the side could work well for many set-ups. I guess the question is how wide is the monitor and how far would you need to turn?
Nice that it has a monitor built in, software looks well thought out as well. It does look to be too small for my use cases where I need the cameras and teleprompters to be some distance away from the subjects. Looks more designed for UA-camrs live streaming from their desk. I've never seen a tablet that didn't have a screen rotating function built in, so it's likely no one would need third party software for that, but it's nice to have it built into the teleprompter software.
Excellent overview! I like your side-by-side with the old prompter looking rather mechanical in comparison. 😅 I've ordered one to test with FluidPrompter.
The last piece is the voice activated scrolling software. Makes it so much easier to use the teleprompter if there is voice recognition that scrolls as you read. Stop reading, stop scrolling, slow down reading, slow down scrolling :).
I've had mixed experiences with voice-activated scripts. If you repeat the same word a few times, it can jump to the wrong one. Although, I'm guessing accuracy may have improved since I last tried it! Now, if you have the software on your computer, you could use it with the Prompter in display mode instead of using Elgato's text feature.
Enjoyed how you use the Elgot Prompter. I have a question. I have 3 different Elgoto devices, Prompter, Elgoto Face Cam and the foot pedal. I connect all three to 3 different USB ports, do I hve to use 3 different ports for powering all the devices?
Thank you for the review, Cat! Would you be able to control it (relatively) easily with Loupedeck keys as well? Also, do you yourself use just Stream Deck in both work or for UA-cam videos, or do you use the Loupedeck Live as well? Appreciate!
Great video Kat. Just the announcement made me attach the Lillyput monitor to my Desview T3 teleprompter and it works! I hate the cabling - probably will end up buying the Elgato prompter anyways LOL.
That is what I did with a Desview T2 and a Neewer field monitor. Are you using any teleprompter software with it? The software integration and the cleaner look is what makes me want to pick one of these up. But it's nice to see that I am not the only one with something that works but still want this.
The display is the biggest thing. Finding an appropriate monitor that fits your glass well and isn't janky has always been the problem. I'm still waiting on the new Parrot kickstarter to use with an ipad mini, but this will be a way better solution.
Janky is such a good term! I recently asked a friend about her teleprompter-buying experience and she said, "I don't know how anyone uses the iPad without losing their minds". That's exactly how I felt.
just purchased . using the Sony ezv10 which isn't compitable with lens adapters, *boo..dealing the software which is not good, *boo..... however; found workarounds with other mounting options and 3rd part software. Loving it so far!
Mind sharing the name of the 3rd party software as I cannot get this thing to work at all. I'm fairly tech savvy. I can't for the life of me get this Promper working. Boooo.
same, that is why i want one, what I am using is so frustrating , having trouble the size of the zoom app just right. nightmare, is zooming easy with this? thank you for the video
Yeah, teleprompter are a pain in a half. However, I think you should point out that you could build the same thing for under $200 and be able to use the monitor on your camera too. I have a Lilliput. Once it's set to "flip" I no longer think about it. I don't use the teleprompter software. I just load a doc and scroll with my mouse, at my tempo. It's a more natural way of doing it to me. I hate fussing with teleprompter settings. So, yeah, looks like a GREAT device for anyone who wants a simple solution. I'd certainly recommend it. Elgato makes great products. Just pointing out after a few months you may go back to your original setup! I look forward to checking back!
My attempt to DIY a teleprompter left a chip in my kitchen counter 😂 but mainly, the glass quality was the issue. My previous teleprompter set up was $500 CAD ($200 teleprompter + $300 monitor).
@@CatMulvihill I did more research, you're right, it would still be, at best, $300 for the same thing. So if I was going to start from scratch I'd go with the Elgato. I'm just grump I'm already invested in my accident prone setup. Chip the counter? I'm working on bricking my expensive camera haha!
Hi Cat, agree with your comment about the Elgato camera hub software. That is not good enough. This software uses a lot of memory. That's probably why your hub-software froze. (check your CPU-activities). For that reason I don't use this software, but I use the Camo software. Much much less memory usage. I hope Elgato soon optimizes its hub-software so that the Prompter works well with the hub-software. Because the Prompter is an excellent product (and can replace my three-years-old teleprompter and iPad mini). Thank you for your excelent review.
Yay - I was kinda stalking your channel hoping you'd do a review of Elgato's new Prompter! 🤫 Thanks for the vid. I, too, am looking to replace the traditional teleprompter/monitor setup that's just too fiddly & delicate to be any fun. The only thing I'm still trying to figure out about this prompter is what kind of stand attachment(s) does it have and where are they located on the equipment?
Great question. There are 2 threads on the bottom so you can choose one or use both (e.g. if someone mounts a heavier camera). I just added some photos to my gear page so you can see the threads! catmulvihill.notion.site/Prompter-d67ea5526a954fde981fd9f15a3af4a3?pvs=4
Thank you@@CatMulvihill!! Those pics are awesome and not something that I've been able to find anywhere. So appreciate you taking the time to make these images and share them.
Hi Cat. Thanks for sharing your review of the Elgato Prompter. I had seen some other reviews of this but was waiting to see what you had to say. I've been using the standard teleprompters for livestreams since 2020. They are helpful but cumbersome. Based on your review, I may pick this up. The main reason is a confidence monitor as well as seeing comments and scenes through Ecamm Live. Have you used this with ecamm? Thanks again!
Yes, I used Ecamm to film this video! If you look closely at 08:10 you will see Ecamm was running. I actually had my program window running while filming, but Ecamm's screen capture hid the window 😉 I chose to use the program window instead of the Video monitor output so I could flip between the script & display. While I talked about the script aspect quite a bit, I almost exclusively use the teleprompter display as a confidence monitor. But I know quite a few people actually want to read a script!
Thanks for your review and thoughts! This is super helpful. I was wondering, I have glasses, do the reflection of the text or monitor reflect back pretty obvious, or does the light reflect back in a way that it doesn't show much on the other end?
Glad it was helpful! As for the glasses, I could do a test with mine to see. Keep in mind it's like any display, so you could choose dark mode for any apps you put on the display, or use a black background when using the text option.
I probably should have mentioned in the video that it worked with my mouse wheel... Since it's an extended display of your computer, I'm guessing a prompter scroller would likely work (haven't tried it).
@@CatMulvihill ohh and for me that would be the deal breaker. Would be great to know if you get a chance to test. Love the feature of being able to use the stream deck to change the display from prompter to zoom in and instant. Great video Cat
What i think about it? Your video is excellent, but hmm .. I think its a bit expensive for a device who's software freezes (here in europe its 300€ ~ 320$) also you can only preorder for december, - here in europe it will be i guess much later... AND i could not find on the homepage the technical details (ok.. its one connector cable only, but will it fit my computer? hdmi or displayport? or is it usb? c or type 3?) also i could not find what cameras are comatible... (example I use a Panasonic GH6, will it fit? or is it too big?) what resolution is the screen? when i am in 4K i have to be at about 5 feet away of the camera.. will i be able to read the text at that distance without glasses? for that last one, seeing your setup and how far you are from the screen would have been very helpfull. Never the less i enjoyed the video, but it leaves lots of questions unanswered, and as I did not find the answers on their homepage, at least not through your link above, i think i will not be using it in the near future essentially because i do not have the time to check all the details. Luc
I think it's good to have questions before any investment. My video was to share my initial impressions, and not a comprehensive or exhaustive video. But I do know the plug is USB 3.0 and the resolution of the display is 1024x600. I don't know your camera, but there are multiple positions for mounting a camera. You can see a few extra photos I added to my gear page: catmulvihill.notion.site/Prompter-d67ea5526a954fde981fd9f15a3af4a3?pvs=4
@@CatMulvihill thank you for your quick reply!!! and for the info! Very appreciated! I do not understand why Elgato does not put these basic infos on their product page.
A lot of people don't use teleprompters for script reading, and instead use them for virtual calls or as a confidence monitor. In those cases, you need the entire display to flip.
Great overview and video! Question... I have a MacBook Pro that can only have two external displays and I currently have a dual monitor setup. If you use the Prompter without being in the Display mode (only text mode), does the Prompter still show up as another external display? I'm fine with the idea of using it only for text, but not sure if it's even an option without changing my setup. Thoughts?
Looks really good. I have a 12 inch prompter now but with a 10 inch Lilliput monitor. I wonder how going to 9 would be. I also would prefer an HDMI connector as I'm basically out of USB C ports . . . but maybe I can get creative. The display also isn't quite as high in resolution compared to the Lilliput that I'm using, so I wonder if that is very noticeable. This looks really cool though! I'm intrigued. I think you used a Lilliput in the past. If so, how does it compare?
I was using a 10" Beetronics monitor that was 1920x1200, and while I appreciated the resolution, I usually had it set to a lower resolution so it was easier to read. Also, the input is actually a USB 3.0 Type A, not a USB C. That being said, I'm also a fan of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". So if you have a setup you are happy with, stick with it!
@@CatMulvihill Thank you so much for the reply, I really appreciate it. I also really appreciate the videos you do. You have really helped me a lot as I'm an online teacher and new UA-camr/Podcaster. So the end you plug into your computer is a USB-A? Ok, the website said C, I guess that means the end that goes into the prompter is a C? Very interesting . . . I'm intrigued. Thanks!
There are so many options that will work with the Prompter because it has a 'shelf'. If the camera has a 1/4" mount, it should work with the shelf. If you want inexpensive, you could choose a webcam or a mobile phone. The webcam is nice because it's powered by the computer, so when the computer is on, the webcam is ready. I don't currently have a specific webcam recommendation. I've been doing some testing, but want to do more before I recommend a specific one. Also, the webcam pricing is highly variable these days. I'm sure if you search UA-cam for comparisons in your price range, you can see some side-by-side comparisons. The phone is a decent option since many people have access to a mobile phone that's no longer in use and could stay mounted on the Prompter. Even older phones still have high quality images. The only thing is that you may need to keep it plugged in, and you will need it to appear as a camera source in your computer (this could be using software like Camo or EpocCam, or if you use Apple products, the continuity camera could work depending on the device/iOS).
It works with Zoom calls, though best with speaker view since the resolution is 1024x600. As for your 16mm lens, Elgato references 20mm width. If you get the camera as close as you can to the glass, the wider you can go. I suspect with 16mm, you may need to zoom in a bit.
No voice recognition? Deal breaker. I’ll stick with Parrot. We should be able to go as fast or as slow as any section of a script calls for, not be subject to a preset scrolling speed. Scrolling via voice recognition reflects real world professional requirements and should be on your wish list.
My 10" monitor was 1920x1200, but I found myself lowering the resolution so I could actually read the words on the screen. But I agree it would have been a nice option to have.
The Corsair/Elgato 'tax' is often a tough pill to swallow ($322 CAD w/GST & PST). And the current, official camera compatibility list is barren to be generous. That said, an integrated solution like this will soon drive others to provide similar solutions at more accessible prices. Thanks for the review!
I see $379.99 on the Canadian site (pre-tax). But that's less than what I paid for my previous set-up (~$500 CAD). I do agree this could drive some competitors to offer more affordable options.
@CatMulvihill I bought one of these on the strength of your video. I've been struggling for a while with a phone powered prompter. Looking forward to the upgrade!
For me, it is literally a dream turning into reality. All that I need! Unfortunately, because I live in Brazil, it will cost the price of a kidney here, and it will take a while for them to start selling it here.
I'm sorry to hear about the cost (definitely keep your kidney!) I suspect the popularity of this product will create some copycats that might be priced lower.
Yes, I just tested it. If you are like me and have a main display, a secondary display, and the teleprompter is your 3rd display, then you may need to go into Set Up Slide Show and choose Monitor 3. You could use it to see your slides or your presenter notes. Keep in mind the resolution is 1024x600, so if you wanted to use it to run your slide show and also share the monitor during a call, I would run a test call to check the picture quality.

Glad it was helpful! It's a great option once you are ready 😊
omg that streamdeck control is CLUTCH
Yes! This is where the Stream Deck + has the upper-hand with the dials.
A Desview T2 teleprompter with a Feelworld T7 plus would cost you about $200. But it’s a 7” screen compared to a 9” and you don’t get the nice integration out of the box that Elgato does offer. So it seems like a good proposition and your video is excellent.
The out-of-the-box advantages are worth it (in my opinion). When I think of the time I wasted trying to get my set-up right... ugh!
Oh my. Glad this popped up on my feed! I’ve been looking for teleprompters (for years I just memorise my script! ! Hard work !)
Thank you ❤
Great timing!
They kindly answered that they would record my suggestion, but they did not mention that they were already working on this new product hahahahaha
I love especially the fact that it fits perfectly into the Elgato ecosystem!
Helpful insight about needing a prompter on the road! Or at least keeping in mind you'll need a laptop.
Sold! I never thought of needing this type of gadget but you’re so charming in demonstrating this product that I am curious to buy one ! You’re simply amazing 🎉! Who are you? I am a new fan, whatever your are producing!👍
Glad to hear it was a helpful video!
Looks very good. The prompting software needs to have voice recognition to control scrolling. I'm not sure how the camera is recorded, but I hope it takes care of the audio as well.
Agreed! Cat, is this available now or should it be on our wish list?
I'm not sure what Elgato has planned for the script software, but you could use a different script reading software with the display mode. As for the input, the camera connects to your computer, so it's not connected to the Prompter itself.
First time I’m considering a prompter. Thanks for your review Cat.
That's exciting Sara! I'm impressed with this one.
Really great overview! So glad I saw this before I made the investment in something else. This checks all the boxes and then some! Thanks Cat!
Great to hear! Sounds like it was good timing (although a bit of a wait to get the unit, unfortunately).
@@CatMulvihill I know, I was shocked when I saw the projected availability date. Thanks again.
Hi Cat. Can you make a video showing how connect a camera and IPhone in this prompter? 🙏🏼
Great idea! Thanks for the suggestion.
Cat, your a Mac user, right? I've only seen people talk about using this with Windows. I'd love to see how it sets up with and interacts with a Mac.
Yes, I'm on a Mac, so everything on the video was the Mac interface for Camera Hub. Is there something in particular you'd like to see?
@@CatMulvihill I didn't see in any video the relationship between camera tripod and teleprompter. Does the tripod attach to the camera or the teleprompter?
@@livestylebr it can do either, actually, depending on your camera. I'm working on a follow-up video to answer questions, so I'll include more details about mounting!
Hey! Cat thank you so much for all the content you are making. It is really helping me a lot over the years, and inspiring to make my own videos, keep it up!
Thank you so much 😊 It means a lot to hear!
Glad you got one. I haven’t set mine up yet but love it so far
So much to love!!
@@CatMulvihill Aha! Thanks for the tip.
Absolutely love your videos. You have an utterly infections presentation style....
1 feature I really wish it could do, I wish we could plug a C to C cable straight into my sony camera to use as a monitor.
Thanks for the video, Cat! I have placed an order for the Elgato Prompter, which is not backordered until December. I'm sure I'll put it to good use.
Thanks, Tim! It's a shame about the backorder, but it will be a great addition, especially for teaching and group calls.
Ordered one last week, and super excited for it to arrive! Too bad they're back-ordered until December 😭
So popular!! But it will be here before you know it 😊
Thank you so much for sharing this breakdown! Im so hyped on the re-stock!
Yes! I'm excited they're making more to meet the demand.
Did you get to try it at TwitchCon?
I've had the opposite experience with tablets! Not sure I've ever seen one that flips the image without software.
Great overview - thanks for the honest review. Ordering...
Glad it was helpful!
Mine shipped yesterday!!!!! Hooray!!!!!!
Quality overview which answered all the questions I had, thanks for posting this video 👍🏻
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Cat. I just ordered mine. Keep up the good work.
🙌🏻 That's awesome!
Excellent overview! I like your side-by-side with the old prompter looking rather mechanical in comparison. 😅 I've ordered one to test with FluidPrompter.
The old one is also pretty heavy!
Appreciate!
Will probably get it because I like the vibe of it, and I'm sure they'll improve the software as it all gets going. Great job Cat!
I believe they will improve it! Based on delivery dates, it looks like the sales are going well 😉
What an amazingly helpful review. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
A monitor is definitely the way to go with a regular prompter (as long as it can flip!)
But I don't blame you for wanting this one 😉
this looks really good! your tutorial was excellent.
Good review of a good product from a good company. Thank you.
Thanks so much Ed!
Cat! This video is so good. Appreciate you doing a deep dive on this!
Thanks so much Matt! I was excited to make this video 😊
I suspect it won't be the last one as I get more use and learn what else people want to know.
just purchased . using the Sony ezv10 which isn't compitable with lens adapters, *boo..dealing the software which is not good, *boo..... however; found workarounds with other mounting options and 3rd part software. Loving it so far!
Mind sharing the name of the 3rd party software as I cannot get this thing to work at all. I'm fairly tech savvy. I can't for the life of me get this Promper working. Boooo.
@@corsoandcanvas yes its an app called teleprompter pro
Pretty amazing that you can even use it for skripting. Is it possible to copy past or save all text written in the Software?
Good question! I'll have to do a little more testing. Right now it doesn't look like.
That does look Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
same, that is why i want one, what I am using is so frustrating , having trouble the size of the zoom app just right. nightmare, is zooming easy with this? thank you for the video
Great reminder to check the CPU activities. The product is in early days, so I'm sure there will be software updates as more users get experience.

Thanks Cat, great run through. 🙏😊
Thanks so much, Alec!
Great video. I'm wondering how you are mounting the prompter. Is there a special mount, or will it mount to a tripod/monopod? Just curious.
I actually cover that in my follow-up video answering questions: ua-cam.com/video/N9tQ53iVZNc/v-deo.html
The product I didn't know I needed...
I actually had my program window running while filming, but Ecamm's screen capture hid the window 😉
I chose to use the program window instead of the Video monitor output so I could flip between the script & display.
While I talked about the script aspect quite a bit, I almost exclusively use the teleprompter display as a confidence monitor. But I know quite a few people actually want to read a script!
Sounds great, Cat. What can you tell us about usefulness under Linux? Anything?
Elgato's website only lists Windows & Mac (and Android 11), not Linux.
Very good review. thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Ah just a few weeks after I bought the Neewer one!
Agh, that's unfortunate timing (although the delivery dates on this would mean you'd be waiting a while for your prompter).
This is great I’d love to be able to connect a Bluetooth device to scroll like my PS5 controller or an actual prompter scroller to control the speed
I probably should have mentioned in the video that it worked with my mouse wheel... Since it's an extended display of your computer, I'm guessing a prompter scroller would likely work (haven't tried it).
@@CatMulvihill ohh and for me that would
be the deal breaker.
Hello, Congratulations 👍👏👏👏👏 I am impressed. Awesome
❤ your review and thoughts.
Thank you so much 😊
you think you could use this outside?
Thanks Cat!
You are so welcome!
Other teleprompters are not as difficult as she describes. Teleprompter apps automatically flip the text image so it reflects correctly.
Thoughts?
It connects using a USB-A 3.0 plug but shows up as another monitor. My 2nd monitor and the Prompter display are both plugged into my CalDigit.
Thanks!
@@classicaltheology yeah, it's a little confusing. I'm working on a follow-up video answering viewer comments, so I'll show the cable up close.
@@CatMulvihill Oh wow, thank you!
I Need a good inexpensive camera to work with this- what do you recommend?
Thanks Cat. Is it good for Zoom calls and can it work with my Sigma 16 mm lens on my Sony ZV E 10?
It works with Zoom calls, though best with speaker view since the resolution is 1024x600.
As for your 16mm lens, Elgato references 20mm width. If you get the camera as close as you can to the glass, the wider you can go. I suspect with 16mm, you may need to zoom in a bit.
No voice recognition? Deal breaker. I’ll stick with Parrot. We should be able to go as fast or as slow as any section of a script calls for, not be subject to a preset scrolling speed. Scrolling via voice recognition reflects real world professional requirements and should be on your wish list.
Struggling to figure out how to use "Display" in the elgato teleprompter. Oof.
I wish it was 1080p and had a HDMI in for an atem
My 10" monitor was 1920x1200, but I found myself lowering the resolution so I could actually read the words on the screen. But I agree it would have been a nice option to have.
Sorry if I missed this, but, can this be used with the Logitech Brio Webcam?
If it has a 1/4 mount, it should work. My understanding is that the Brio requires you to remove the base, which has the mount.
I noticed to didn't meantion about the twitch chat intergation by default
I didn't test it out as a non-Twitch user, but Elgato and some other channels show it.
Awesome u and device ❤
The Corsair/Elgato 'tax' is often a tough pill to swallow ($322 CAD w/GST & PST). And the current, official camera compatibility list is barren to be generous. That said, an integrated solution like this will soon drive others to provide similar solutions at more accessible prices. Thanks for the review!
I see $379.99 on the Canadian site (pre-tax). But that's less than what I paid for my previous set-up (~$500 CAD).
I do agree this could drive some competitors to offer more affordable options.
Jebus, you're right. It was early and pre-coffee brain took the U.S. price for Canadian instead.
Stream deck support is killer.
I mean, it makes sense!
@CatMulvihill I bought one of these on the strength of your video. I've been struggling for a while with a phone powered prompter. Looking forward to the upgrade!
Does it pack down at all? It looks a little bulky for location work.
It does not pack down, no. I believe their audience is for the home user who sets it up once and leaves it.
Would this work with the anker c200 webcam instead of a dedicated camera? How does it connect behind?
I show a demo of mounting a webcam in today's follow-up video: ua-cam.com/video/N9tQ53iVZNc/v-deo.html
Enjoyed the video. I wish they sold the monitor as a stand-alone product (much cheapter than buying an ipad).
I take it you have a teleprompter already?
@@CatMulvihill yes
For me, it is literally a dream turning into reality. All that I need! Unfortunately, because I live in Brazil, it will cost the price of a kidney here, and it will take a while for them to start selling it here.
I'm sorry to hear about the cost (definitely keep your kidney!)
I suspect the popularity of this product will create some copycats that might be priced lower.
Instead of spending $279 bucks, I think I'll just use Wordpad and the scroll wheel on my mouse...
Hi, can I see PowerPoint slides on this unit?
Yes, I just tested it. If you are like me and have a main display, a secondary display, and the teleprompter is your 3rd display, then you may need to go into Set Up Slide Show and choose Monitor 3. You could use it to see your slides or your presenter notes.
Keep in mind the resolution is 1024x600, so if you wanted to use it to run your slide show and also share the monitor during a call, I would run a test call to check the picture quality.
