Its interesting, last time I visited family I was drinking a Dr. Pepper and talking to my dad and he was telling me how the Dr. Pepper he grew up with that was made with cane sugar and the Dr. Pepper that’s around now made with HFCS are basically two completely different drinks, and I think you can definitely confirm that. My grandfather actually worked for Dr. Pepper back in the 60s and 70s so my dad naturally drank a lot of it growing up. So you can say that love of Dr. Pepper kind of runs in my family haha! I just find it fascinating how much cane sugar affects the taste. My question is… is the “23 flavor” recipe the SAME in both the sugar and HFCS versions but the flavor changes drastically based on what sweetens it? Or is the modern version actually an altered recipe with different flavors? Dr. Pepper is insanely secretive with the recipe of course so us mere mortals may never know! I’m really interested to finally try the cane sugar version and see how it compares. I’m curious which one I’ll prefer. I love the modern version, it’s my go to drink but who knows, maybe I’ll be like my dad and prefer the cane sugar version better! I need to try it soon and report back hehe.
So I learned this second hand from my mother whos an avid soda fan without her telling me, sodas made with real sugar is about as close to the real pre 1980's recipe everyones changed to using HFCS, real sugar has a more naturally, organic, and refined taste compared to the chemical process taste HFCS has, me and my gf made the switch to pepsi real sugars since its always avaliable at big retail stores in droves cause everyone gets the cheaper 12 pack, Id love to get my hands on some Dr Pepper RS, even the can design looks delectable. thanks for the review and keep em coming, more sodas big guy thanks again!
Thanks brother! I absolutely LOVE Pepsi made with real sugar, i will be trying mtn dew real sugar next. I tried it way back when it was called throwback mtn dew in like 2010 so i'm ready to see how great it must still taste. Definitely look for these Dr Pepper real sugars at the grocery stores that older people shop at in the more expensive stores. Oh yeah! I reviewed Mexican coke a bit ago, always loved it. It’s available here even in the heartland of America right down the street at dollar general. When I actually do drink coke I opt for it for sure. 😎

I swear when I made a short little video a year or two ago that Dr peppers recipe is still a secret but many supposed recipes people have narrowed it down to does have prune juice in it and even tomato juice in some! Crazy 🤪

But ppl everywhere report a distinct prune taste. I tasted it more old school (assuming pre-fake-sugar). I'm somehow disappointed 😭. - 🌴 just me in Palm Springs 🌴
