You know it’s really your dad when he says “whatever your name is”
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Ralph! lol. Rest in peace, Mr. Donner - the magic you made in your years of filmmaking will be hard to forget.
He does stay in character.
When he looks up he’s reading a cue card.
You should look up the stories on Dr. Moreau's Island :v
Superman and his alter-ego Ralph, lol.
Rest In Peace Richard donner
"Like Ralph or something?" - Superman
This scene is canon 😂
I watched the Donner Cut of Superman II and Ladyhawke for the first time a couple of months ago. What a visionary and an inspiration to our pop culture. There would be no superhero films today without him.
It just shows that even Brando was a great actor? He had a good sense of humor too.😄
Legendary director. RIP.
He was worth every penny!
What a great loss to cinema his passing is,condolences to his family
He made the Best Superman Movie ever.
Concur. Of the numerous cinematic adaptations, that 1978 opus is 🐐!
Better than anything by Hack Snyder.
He didn't make it. He merely had a cameo in it and was probably paid handsomely to do so.
I like man of steel better
@@aaryamannambiar66771 million dolars for the cameo
LOL! Kind of coincidental with Chris Reeve's line when Lois asks him his name and he says "Do you mean like Ralph or something?" Did Brando remember that line from the script or was it added after this blooper?
He gave us movie magic. Thank you for sharing this Robert.
How does this hilarious scene only have about 300 likes??? 😆😆
R.I.P. the comic book movie Godfather. He gave me joy that affecting my lifetime and future lifetimes to come
Rest In Peace, Donner was the best ❤️
Really, really saddened to just hear this news. Loved Superman, the Lethal Weapons and Goonies so much. His personality while directing seemed fantastic from behind the scenes. RIP Richard Donner. What a legacy to leave.
He made the best Superman movie since I was a child. Rest in Peace Richard Donner, you're a genius film director and I still love The Goonies 😢💔
I just watched his movie "Inside Moves" on HBO Max a few weeks ago. Such a fantastic adult drama on relationships and friendships.
I wonder if this might be why The Greatest American Hero was named Ralph.
The king of Verisimilitude
he will own that word forever. #legend.
RIP Richard Donner
🌲☄🌲Bucking Frilliant!!Even in flubbing his lines as Superman's Father the Man was a civilization unto himself! It's Gold Jerry,Gold!!Heaven Bless Marlon Branflakes!!🌲☄🌲
Rest In Peace Richard Donner. Thank you so much for making us believe a man can fly.
One of the best taglines in movie history-thank you for the reminder.
Fun fact: His voice and face appears in Megamind.
And that's a wrap... Bye good Sir. Rest in peace.
The world is a slightly worse place now. RIP great artist!
Is it a Bird! Is it a plane!!.......nah its just Ralph.
"develop such conviction in yourself, el al." to be fair, someone did say he was a plane
My grandmother had six kids, including my mom, who was the fifth. As my grandmother got older, she would address my mom by listing off the 4 siblings before her and then getting to my mom's name.
I wonder if Brando was reading from que cards.
Yes, he insisted on it; he refused to learn lines for his scenes in Superman. I don't know if the behind-the-scenes feature I saw that on is a feature on any DVDs.
@@thetetrarchofapathy9728 I remember hearing a story that Brando's lines were taped to baby Kal-El's diaper when he gave his speech to him right before lift-off.
If I ever heard that, I don't remember, but, with all I've heard about Marlon Brando, I wouldn't be surprised.
Apparently Brando read cue cards in most of his films. He liked his performances to feel genuine instead of rehearsed. Brando got away with murder on Superman. He shot his scenes in a few days and he read from cue cards and he got paid millions of dollars and he received top billing for Superman, also he had casting approval. He decided who would be in the movie! Last but not least, he even received a high percentage of the gross profits for the film’s box office take. He was only in the movie for ten minutes or so. Brando was a legend and Richard Donner held him in the highest regard.
0:29 Donner saying Cut!
That's gold.
Donner was the grandfather of both the MCU and DC on film. With _Superman,_ Donner didn't just define the superhero film genre - translating a then-disposable childrens medium to screen - he made the _great American film._
Name another film that goes from pseudo-Shakespearean stage theater with Brando, to apocalyptic sci-fi disaster movie, to John Ford-esque domestic drama, to Screwball Comedy, to Romance, to Action movie, to Greek tragedy. And through it all, Donner is telling us a story of the power of empathy. And that empathy is the common thread that defines the best of our popular culture today.
well said
Star Wars was released a year before. It truly defines modern American cinema
Okay but this is Marlon Brando.
I've had a long hard day at work. I was wondering what this is? and then I could not start laughing for about a minute. Just wonderful. Thank you Marlon.
RIP RICHARD DONNER (1930-2021) 😭😭😭
Rest in peace, Richard Donner.
Marlon Brando, was a good maN,,,👍👍👍👍👍
HE GOT IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!
Oh! I thought it was Brando as Holly in Red Dwarf!
Marlon Brando is a trip, man.
Presidential material right there
R.I.P Mr. Donner.
See you on the other side Mr Donner. Thank you for being a hero of my childhood 🧘♂️
It is funny, because in the movie when Lois asks Superman if he has a first name, he says like Ralph or something... That was my dad's first name, so we always thought that was funny. I now wonder if this blooper by Marlon Brando is what Christopher Reeve was referring to in the movie, and that is why he chose the name, Ralph? 🤔
It is
A floating Marlon Brando head
They should've went with Ralph 😂
During Lois's interview with Superman she asks him his first name and he says "Do you mean like Ralph or something?' - I wonder if that line made it into the script because of this.
My parents forget my name all the time so they should've kept this in
Rest In Peace Richard Donner.
Still beautiful
Lmao what a legend
superman's dad should be in his 30s if he is an idealistic scientist with a newborn.
SuperRalph is my favourite character
Brandon Routh predicted! 🔮
Hey, at least he didn’t swallow a bug this time.
Brando really jacked them for the salary. I think he got paid something insane back then like 5 or 10 million dollars which in todays money would be like 75 million. All that for what, maybe 5 or 10 minutes of screen time.
True, but having him on the marquee pretty much ensured that they got the funding to film both movies. Without him, the films might have never happened.
$2 million
A week's work. And Marque value
Ralph the Wonder boy! 😂
"Joe-rel" has spoken!
#RestinPeace, Dick Donner, and thank you.
This is WONDERFUL because it proves he wasn't reading cue cards for this movie! This was a true and fully motivated performance, not just "reading it in". A superb talent, and the PERFECT man to play this role.
He did read cue cards in the movie. When he's sending baby Kal off, his lines on are on the kids blanket and diaper.
Are you aware of the fact that Brando felt this movie was beneath him? He was in it for the money. Brando would've rather been playing Shakespeare. He was paid a lot of money for very little work. I like the movie, by the way, yet let's not fabricate what Brando thought about working on the film.
Prophetic words! It took until the 2020s to get more than our fair share of Ralph in the Pyjama cop genre.
You're neither, my son.
You're an errand boy, sent by grocery clerks, to collect a bill.
Israel's national airline: Yes father, I will do as you wish.
Just like my father 😂
Didn't give a damn about any of it and is STILL the greatest Jor-El on film.
None of the newer Superman movies even come close to what Donner created.
The video is about Brando forgetting Kal-El's name, but there is profound truth in his words,
Jor-El can't remember what his son's name is.
That's pretty funny.
Ralph😆
The 'floating head effect' doesn't seem to be entirely convincing
I wasn’t buying that he was his dad until he said, “whatever your name is”
well remebered what he had for lunch😀👍
Colonel Kurtz
Ralph-El
Marlon Brando's I-don't-give-a-crap phase in the 1970's. You crazy car! I don't know whether to kiss you or eat you.
Oh no, that's sad...
Marlon Brando: Never reads the script and is famous for improvising.
Don Corleone once said, "A man who is not a father to his children can never be a real man Kalel, Ralph, whatever your name is..."
This was the obese Brando filmmakers had to camouflage to hide the blubber.
Hmm I thought Brando refused to do retakes
Ralph
he got confused with the greatest american hero......which btw....if it wasn't done comedically, that costume actually made ralph, on some level even more powerful than superman.
It really is too bad that Superman's Kryptonian name isn't Ralph.
How can you forget your son's name?
Thomas. Boin
:’(
Is it Carl or Kal-El?😶
You can see he doesn´t gave a fuck for this movie and just did it cause of the money.
I've said it once and I'll say it again: Marlon Brando was overrated.
Agreed. Just a lazy actor looking for a quick buck
@@ricemanrhys4164 He was competent enough. If he had left his ego aside he could have achieved a lot more. He had good performances. But to portrait him as a GOD of acting? No. Absolutely not
@@ricarleite he changed what film acting was. He was a god to that generation who felt that impact. You can watch "A Streetcar named Desire". The way he acted stood in contrast to the rest. Brando was great when he did not phone it in. He added very small details to characters, but really impact how the character was portrayed. Like Vito Corleone playing with a cat, adding the rasping sound, etc. But if he don't care, he was like this. Read some lines and take the money. He wasn't alway great, only when he wants to be, especially when he need money.
You’ve clearly never seen any other Brando films. Might I suggest LAST TANGO IN PARIS? Report back!
@THEBURNETTWORK he's overrated. When I'm watching him, I'm not seeing "the greatest actor ever". He's average at best.
Phew, his son is Halal, he's okay to eat.
I still think Zardoz would have been better father than Brando.
Got paid a million dollars for his part. All we get is one bad take?
infinitely better than kevin costner or john schneider
Halal: The Muslim Superman.
superman is nothing if not halal, alhamdulillah
Just a terrible actor he had to read his lines off the diapers of baby ka-el
RIP Richard Donner
A director of class. Not many can turn their hands to so many genres, spin gold and entertain so many. Up their on the top table. RIP Sir.
@@Johnnybojangles664 I was just thinking that. He really did great movies in nearly every genre.
