For me they both have their own place, pick gives you more attack and aggressivity, fingers have a more mellow sound, don't like when finger players tell me that "Real bassists don't use picks", Mike Dirnt for example mentioned his heavy picking plays a big role in his sound, and in general i don't understand why we should't have both.
