Having been an opiate addict I can tell you that those things fry your pain receptors and since I have quit I have noticed that I actually have MORE pain after getting off them. So it's a freaking nightmare either way and now I grow my own weed and eat shrooms and I am just fine now!
There is no such thing as "pain receptor." You have opioid receptors and nerve endings, but no pain receptors. Pain isn't a chemical that needs a receptor to have an effect, that's just not how it works. But yes, your pain is worse during withdrawls.

Got hooked after breaking my ankle my dr prescribed me 80 Norco’s and mind you right before I broke my ankle I was already fighting addiction and was a month sober from weed n pills n boom broke my ankle right when I hit the ambulance they gave me morphine drip n ever since feb 2019 I’ve been fighting my addiction. The doctor had stopped my prescription after 2 refills but not even try to help me get off it was just “sorry no more” I’m here today because of my own choices n I don’t trust dr anymore. They the real problem.
I'm saying man a lot of doctors don't give a shit because they benefit greatly financially from prescriptions so it's insane how much people still believe a federal employer has your best health & interest in mind

I recently got over a fractured right kneecap. Talk about pain. Had to wear a $600 knee brace for a few months. Had to lock it at night when I slept to keep the fracture in place. I was on Oxicontan and Oxicodon. Several nights I almost had to cry myself to sleep. I'm just now learning that they might've didn't work to their full potential from what Joey said about them. (My medicine, Oxicodone and Oxicontan). Later.
Don't believe everything joey Diaz says. Sometimes the pain medication you got isn't enough to take away the pain of a more serious injury which is when your Dr might adjust your dose and put you on a higher mg. The only time you're in pain from taking pain pills is when you don't have them anymore and you withdrawal. I was a pill addict since 14 yrs old and turned to a heroin junkie. I'm years clean, but while in addiction, I learned a lot about your brain and pain meds bc I wanted to understand the thing that was causing so much trouble in my life.
I had a really bad wound that required multiple surgeries and was in hospital for several months but at the beginning they put fentanyl patches on me they would last three days and there was zero pain they had to tell me don't get out of bed! Seriously I felt like I could do anything as pain relief it is amazing.
I remember fentanyl patches. I had the 80 microgram patches. When another Dr found out I was prescribed those for a short time, he flipped out. He told me that those are fore extreme cases and for cancer patients. I should've never got prescribed anything close to that. Then I was looked at as a junkie instead of the Dr being looked at as an incompetent rock Dr.

After the industrialization of rave scene massives i remember they made it illegal to buy and sell them . Then i started hearing more people getting sick and its real sad that testers were blacklisted for some reason

I must agree with joey even with a full blown back injury when my legs went numb I refused pain medication because I think it's makes it worse when you come off it, if I remember correctly pain equals healing no pain leads to confusing the body as a knee doctor told me

I refused pain killers twenty five years ago when I broke my pelvis. Stuff scared me enough to just deal with a little pain when I coughed. The guy who was in the same room as me was screaming from the pain he was in and was only allowed so much per hour from his machine
any drug will have the opposite effect when you get off it, anxiety meds like benzos give you debilitating anxiety/ pain meds you feel 10x more pain after getting clean.

Joey is so right my grandma just got done with a surgery for her femur a bar was put in she got Tylenol 3 that’s it the old lady patient beside her was complaining about more pain medication and you could tell the pain medicine controls her life… people don’t need them only the elderly that are terminal or ppl who are on deaths bed etc should get opiates/opioids
Problem is now when you actually need it they don’t do anything. I know someone who broke a leg and they gave them morphine at the hospital and then have them nothing at all. Told them to take ibeuprphen. That’s just ridiculous and sad

I agree. It's quite common for otherwise healthy ppl getting in an accident, breaking a bone, getting a ton of pain pills for too long, and end up pain-med junkies. Happens a lot, sadly :(

Joeys right, opioids can cause hyperalgesia especially after prolonged use.
The reason why the pain gets worse is because the pain meds are blocking the pain receptors in your nerves. And pain is your body's warning system so when you don't feel the pain you continue to do the thing that causes the pain in the first place. That's why getting a cortisone shot is the worst thing you can do.

I got prescribed oxy once after a surgery and my first thought upon feeling it hit me was "oh yeah... I see why this is a problem lol..."
I've tried everything at least once and that definitely won
I got it for surgery too. After 2 days of mostly sleeping, I realised that after taking it that's when I would get seriously drowsy and sleep. So I stopped taking it and the pain actually wasn't much at all considering the amount of stitches in my gums (dental surgery)

i have friends who still use coke, and i mentioned how there is a fentanyl risk & my buddy says 'i know where my stuff is coming from'. coke used to be easy, you either got junk, or fish scale, from what ive been told fish scale is gone, you no longer get fish scale coke, so no more strong permanent marker smell which makes it obvious its blow. i was at the pharmacy a while back, & i saw a sign about narcan inhalers, so i asked the pharmacist. She told me they are free. she put 2 inhalers, a CPR mouth guard & some information papers in a ziploc bag & it cost me nothing. i put it in my dining room drawer & told all my friends. its better to have it & not need it, than need it & not have it.

Here in Ny they only prescribe pain pills for serious surgeries. I got my wisdom teeth removed last summer and the only thing they gave me as a huge needle to the gums to numb my mouth before surgery. After that I just had to suffer. Yet at the same time I’ve had amphetamines prescribed to me for adhd and they’re rlly addictive. Sum is not right here.

The problem is that your brain naturally produces the chemicals. When you put new stuff in the system in certain cases it makes the pain worse.

My grandmother had really bad asthma and technically died a few times. She used to have 2 epi pens. Here in primary schools teachers have them for kids with peanut allergies

I was on methadone 14 years and a peak of 188mg, 5 months clean off it and still have post acute withdrawal symptoms, funny because my gf was on it 5 years and peak 22mg and she was all good in just a month, make sure you taper if you get off man its nasty stuff. It seems the longer your on it the longer you will feel like crap coming off it

If someone decides to smoke meth I'd advise against it, but that's their choice to make. If it destroyed their life, oh well. Maybe the next person will learn from their example. I think coke being laced with fent in the US is a myth for the most part. It really depends on what state your in too, florida for example is full of good coke.
I remember when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s, there were ads from the FBI saying "winners don't use drugs" and then the NARC video game came out. Those times were epic. I never did coke or any powder drugs. I puffed a little weed, and even that was shit. Recreational Drugs are for losers. Those ads stuck with me for life.
Also, a lot of our father in the 80s were very skilled tradesmen and when they touched coke, that was the end. You get destroyed, and your family is destroyed.

I'm a substance abuse counselor, and it is a proven fact that prolonged use of Opioids CAUSES AND CREATES PAIN.
What about occasional use? I’ve got osteoarthritis in one of my ankles, and the only thing that helps when I’m in a lot of pain are opioids. I don’t use them every day, though.

The problem in the US is that people get pain pills for the smallest injuries ever.... on germany you don't get any pain pills after a knee surgery. Only antibiotics. They make sure u stay in bed an recover properly. We just go through the pain most of the time and it's not that bad come on.. Thing is we germans don't have to think about work or money during those times because we have awesome health care.
