    My friend had a horrific encounter with a Grizzlie. He thought he was about to be mauled so he prayed to God that the bear would be a Christian bear. It was then that the bear stopped, put it's paws together and then the bear prayed "Thanks Lord for this meal which I am about to receive"...

Now you factor in it's top running speed of 35mph, body weight in the multi hundreds (very rarely less than 300-400 lbs...some being 900-1100 lbs...can climb ANY tree despite its weight....and has absolutely no throat instinct to mercifully suffocate you to death before simply pinning you down and ripping you to strips until you die

    My dad was a fisherman in remote Yakutat Alaska and we have a cabin 50 miles from the nearest town in the middle of the forest. I’ll never forget the only time I saw a mother grizzly bear and her 2 cubs, luckily we were on 4 wheelers but this bear stood on its back legs probably 8 feet’s tall and roared at us as we drove past our 2 4 wheelers getting about 10-15 feet away at the closest point. Nothing compares to these animals in the wild. Truly a monster of an animal but so beautiful to see in the wild if you don’t get to close.

    • @jamesward6503
      @jamesward6503 3 роки тому +59

      I've had dozens of very close calls with both Brown and black bear. I was probably very close to where you were set netting on the river. It was Raining and blowing i was in full rain gear sitting on the side of the skiff bailing bloody fish water. I had my back to the rain and couldn't hear with the rain beating on my hood. I heard the dog barking and turned to see it chasing the bear away. The tracks in the wet sand were about ten feet away. The other one was at night, again blowing and raining I was running the net and was almost to the end and I kept feeling the net tugging. I'm thinking huge 50 pound king in the net. As I get too the end, I look up with my head lamp and a big bear is ripping fish out of the net. It didn't even look at me. Even with a skiff full of fish I made record time pulling my way back. Iv'e been super lucky with bears but know several who have been killed or mauled.

    A neighbor of mine lost his wife in 2020,or 2021.
    In Saskatchewan, it was a black bear.
    They owned a cabin far north and were very bear and nature smart. She was outside with her 9 yr old son and sent him in for something, next thing a male black bear was attacking her. Husband had to shoot the bear twice to kill it. Unfortunately she didn't survive her injuries and also left behind a 2 yr old daughter

      I grew up in Montana and bears used to run through our yard in Bozeman. Occasionally, they are
      spotted in town usually on walking and biking trails such as the Galligator Trail. These are usually not grizzlies but I wouldn’t want to startle or anger any adult bear.
      If you want to learn about bears and you’re in the Bozeman area, visit Montana Grizzly Encounter. They care for a few grizzlies that can’t be released into the wild. You can do a lot to prevent a bear attack and they explain that in their talk.

Did he mean that they tend to eat more meat than black bears and just explained it poorly? I have no respect for anything this guy says about animals or hunting now, that's a pretty weird thing to be wrong about

    As a female hunter who was lucky enough to be born into a family of very avid outdoorsman, I can honestly say that crossing paths with a grizzly is my worst fear. I don’t have anywhere near the experience as my father or grandfather, and I don’t get to hunt as much as I want to, but I do have more experience than most people I know and I feel so incredibly lucky for that. I have been hunting with my dad and brother and grandpa many many times and the one thing we ALWAYS have on us other than our rifle and sidearm, is bear-spray. And my grandpa will always chastise us if our spray is anywhere other than on our hip in a very accessible place. Never let your guard down in bear country 🐻

A whole squad of heavily armed people should be good enough. What happens in the woods is 99% of the time a bear would encounter an unarmed human whereas a human always meets a bear that is ready to rip you apart. I encountered a huge grizzly with my Grandfather in the northern part of Wyoming we were about 300-400 feet away on a cliff in full camouflage watching this beast of a bear looking and sniffing around in a creek. And all of a sudden he looks in our direction up on the cliff and I mean body pointing directly at us which to me and my grandpa felt like he was staring right at us but we knew it was most likely checking it’s surroundings, examining the cliff whatever. All of a sudden the bear turns it’s head behind him, looks back at us and started SPRINTING towards our direction… we hopped in the Jeep so fast and booked it! I worked for a guide service as a wrangler for elk hunts, just outside Yellowstone, in the Grand Tetons. One time I was quartering up an elk and Tandy, one of our pack mules, started dancing around all crazy and I went to walk over to see what the impatient bitches problem was.. then I looked in the direction she was looking in and just on top of the hill was a huge Griz sow and three near full grown cubs.. we all looked at each other for a second that felt like forever and then me and the guy I was with started yelling “hey bear fuck off, get your own!” And nothing happened. So we had to act, slowly walking towards them waving our arms and yelling. It takes a great deal to walk towards an animal that every part of you wants to run from. They decided to turn tail and run over the hill, needless to say we both had pistols drawn.. always pay attention to your pack animals and mounts.. Me and my brother were hiking Mount Yamnuska in Canmore, Alberta and on our way back down from the mountain, we got off the main trail and ended up coming down on a deer trail. I had a funny feeling in my gut so I had some lound music playing on my phone for noise as I didn't have anything else. As we came out of this one brush of trees into an open meadow, I look at this face with pitch black eyes just staring at me and to be honest, I just froze for a good couple of seconds as I couldn't believe that it was a grizzly about 80 ft. away from us. As I snapped back into my senses, i just lowered my gaze and we slowly backed off and as we were backing away, we noticed it was a mama bear with a cub so things could have turned real bad for us if anything went wrong. Not just listening, but watching for any hint of a bear at my feet. It’s trippy AF out in the bush in dead silence and you hear things or just imagine you hear things…

    Growing up in Sitka, Alaska (Baranof Island), my family, friend's and I have had numerous encounters with Coastal Brown Bears, a.k.a. Coastal Grizzlies. More often than not, the bear leaves or ignores you. However, an angry or aggressive Grizzly is exceptionally dangerous, even if armed w/ bear spray and a large caliber firearm. I personally know people who have been attacked, mauled, have had their pets eaten, etc. Even with a massive, growing population of these bears on the ABC islands (Admiralty, Baranof and Chichagof Islands) so many local do-gooder's whine & bitch about these bears getting shot and killed from time to time, but if and/or when (God Forbid) one takes a child, I expect their tune will change! I've never been big on carrying while hiking cause I usually only see black bear and they scare off easy enough, but ever since seeing a grizzly from 200 yards away, I never go into any Alaskan Bush without my Remmi 870 w/000, always ready for the worst case scenario of a Grizzly charging.

    Once while hiking down from Halfdome with my uncle, we ran into a mother black bear and her cubs coming towards us on a path. We were out of water so we were feelin the fatigue. Then we had to walk backwards probably about a half to 3/4s of a mile to get back to a fork in the trail that led to a rest stop. It was a weird section of trail where the ground became almost like sand. I was 13 at the time and it was one of the most insane experiences I can remember. It really was by the whim of that mother bear whether or not we went. Cause they got within 100 yards of us.

    I grew up hiking in the Appalachian mountains, from the time I could barely walk…used to love it so much that I started going alone when I got older … That is until I encountered a black bear (on the large side for a black) miles from anyone .. Only time in my life I’ve felt that vulnerable, like I could die if something decides on a whim to do the deed. Decided to never go alone again or without protection…and probably wouldn’t be caught dead in Grizzly country…that phobia is just too intense for me now.

    All of the expert analysis I've seen is that Black Bears attack because they want to eat you so they say if a Black Bear attacks, fight back because it is a predatory attack. They say most Grizzly attacks are defensive or because you startle them. They say to play dead if a Grizzly attacks you because they generally just want to neutralize what they perceive as a threat. Here, you guys describe it exactly the opposite. Perhaps try to clarify in the comments here for your viewers. Thank you

    • @Darkstormsun9865
      @Darkstormsun9865 3 роки тому

      thats probably true, but the point is that a black bear is usually not hungry enough to want to eat a human. so you can scare it off with intimidation, because most likely its not a predatory attack. a grizzly on the other hand is a superior predator and has a higher chance to decide to eat and kill you. also its a lot bigger than a black bear so its less likely to be scared of you and aggression is a lot more than a black bear. which makes the grizzly no matter how you look at it the more dangerous of the two.

    • @Acadian.FrenchFry
      @Acadian.FrenchFry 3 роки тому

      Yes Travis you are absolutely right! I was annoyed at this guy's ignorance about bears. Saying grizzlies are carnivores and black bears are omnivores. Both are omnivores and grizzly bears are far less likely to eat humans than black bears, but grizzlies are far more likely to attack (defensive reaction) than black bears also.
      Typically in late summer/Fall (mostly male) predatory black bear attacks can happen. They are usually trying to bulk up before hibernation. Be very wary of any black bear that stalks you or shows interest. They typically are not as aggressive as brown bears or polar bears, but they are no less dangerous or no less capable of killing people for food.
      I will add sometimes grizzly attacks are predatory in which case you're screwed as they usually will lay on top of you to use their weight to stop your moving as they eat you at their leisure. Pretty horrific to think about.

    I have a long story about being charged by a 9.5’+ mountain griz near moose lake Alaska while hunting many years ago. Massive massive bear and in that valley they are all monsters. Shot him 3 times and he kept charging. Too long story to post here
    I’ll say this for anyone who has not experienced this.
    A black bear before bedding down that’s hungry will eat you alive.
    A Griz will kill you and in some cases wait days to make sure you are dead.
