  • Join me in this exciting leg of my cycling journey as I head towards San Carlos City and experience my first rain-soaked ferry ride to Toledo City, Cebu.
I started my day early at 6 AM, riding downhill towards San Carlos City, just 20 km away. On my way, I was invited into the home of a friendly local man who lived with his father. Despite having a small house, he welcomed me warmly, sharing his dreams of moving to Korea for work and learning the Korean language. We shared coffee and food while exchanging stories, and although I enjoyed my time there, I had to continue my journey due to the impending rain.
When I reached San Carlos City, I found it to be a small, quiet place, unlike the bustling cities I'd passed through before. After purchasing my ferry tickets for myself and my bike (which cost around 700 pesos), I boarded the ship. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the seats were sleeper-style, allowing me to lay down and relax during the one-hour ride to Toledo City. Unfortunately, the rain limited my view of the beautiful island landscapes, but the experience of being on a ship while it rained was unique.
Upon arriving in Toledo City, I was officially in Cebu Province, my last island destination. Toledo City, though not a major tourist hub, is an important industrial and agricultural center. Its port plays a key role in connecting Cebu with nearby islands like Negros. The city is also known for its mining industry and scenic spots like Malubog Lake and the Luray II Cave.
Still drenched from the rain, I decided to take a break in Toledo for about 3 hours. As the evening approached, I made my way to a small village where I found shelter at the local barangay hall. The people there were incredibly kind, offering me food and a place to rest for the night.
This video covers my journey from San Carlos City to Toledo, Cebu, including my first ferry experience in the rain, the warm hospitality of locals, and the quiet charm of Toledo City. I’ll also be sharing more about my final push towards Cebu City in the next episode, so stay tuned!"
Toledo City: Toledo City, located on the western coast of Cebu Island, plays an important role in the province’s economy due to its industrial activities, particularly in mining. The city’s surrounding areas offer beautiful natural attractions such as lakes and caves, though it’s more of a quiet stop for those traveling through the province. While it may not be as well-known for tourism as other parts of Cebu, Toledo is an essential port city, connecting travelers and goods between Negros and Cebu.
