Hey Barry, love your content! You have made my day better whenever you upload. In your opinion, is 2001 Miami or 2019 LSU the best college football team of all time? On a side note, which has had the most and best NFL talent on it?
“If you took away all of Gretzky’s goals, he would still the all-time points leader on assists alone.” That’s freaking ridiculous. Incomprehensible statistic if I ever saw one
Barry, for the next one, do this: Which on a year to year basis do you think is more interesting (which would you rather watch) the AFC or NFC playoffs.
@@Zach-mw5so Well I’m a Steelers fan but in the past, I’ve definitely been more interested and into the NFC playoffs. More just which conference is more competitive and whatnot, I prefer the NFC (until last year that is).
Brett Favre vs Kurt Warner. Both are prime QBs of their time but they also hold career interception and sack records on teams that have yet. Thoughts Barry love the content always
I would say Warner is better, but not by a ton necessarily. Warner had a shorter career, but I’d say he peaked higher than Favre did (he averaged a passer rating of over 103 for three years during which he won two MVP’s), and he also had a 96 rating in 08 as well as the 2008 Super Bowl appearance in Arizona. Notably he had a career postseason passer rating of 16 points higher than Favre, and his ratio of touchdowns to interceptions in the playoffs was 31 to 14 vs 44 to 30 for Favre in 11 fewer playoff games. Favre by contrast had better longevity. He obviously has his three MVP seasons, and was excellent at his best from about 93-98 or so. I often hear people say he wasn’t the same after Mike Holmgren left, and I would agree, but I’d also argue that the second half of his career wasn’t chopped liver either. On one hand, you’ll find some bad years in there (2005 and 06 in particular), and you’ll also find the playoff interceptions he’s criticized for (2003 vs Philly, 2007 vs New York, 2009 vs New Orleans, and the six pick game vs Warner’s Rams namely). But Favre also had some very solid seasons after 2000 as well: He was a second team all pro in 01, 02, and 07 I believe. In 03, he led the league in passing touchdowns while having the 12th most pass attempts I believe, (his 2003 interception rate was up there, but his passer rating and completion percentage were also higher) and in 2009 he had the second highest passer rating to only Drew Brees. And though they obviously occurred in postseasons where his team didn’t win it all, Favre did also have four games in the playoffs where his passer rating was over 100 in the 2000’s, and three of them came against top ten defenses. Favre was better in the 90’s with Holmgren don’t get me wrong, and was likely an instigator in the playoff losses I listed earlier, but when Barry listed Favre as the tenth best quarterback in his opinion he called the second half of his career on par with Kerry Collins, and I think that sells him a bit short. (Collins by contrast had only two postseason games with a passer rating over 100, and his career playoff passer rating is 11 points worse than Favre). Obviously Favre will have raw higher career totals due to his longevity and durability, but I say Warner is better because if you gave him the same career length and no injuries, I wouldn’t be surprised if his career looks better than Favre’s does in reality. But at the end of the day, I say both are Hall of Fame quarterbacks in my opinion.
Hey Barry. Long time viewer first time commenter. About the tiger vs Jack debate. Jack has more major wins 18 than tigers 15 and more runner ups which I believe jack had like 13 and tiger had 3. The thing about it is tiger has 82 total wins and Jack has 73. Jack also had a longer career but healthier competition. The reality is jack has a career 12.5% win percentage and tiger has a 22%. For about 3 years, tiger was as good at his job as anyone has ever been at their job ever in the history of life.
Great content as always Barry. If you were starting a new college football team and had to choose between hiring Nick Saban or Kirby Smart, who would you take? Saban is obviously the best college coach ever but he is 71 and I'm not sure how many more years he has left in the tank. Kirby, meanwhile, is clearly the best of Saban's former assistants and has won the last 2 national championships and might be the best coach in CFB right now, but you do have to wonder if this is truly the start of a Georgia dynasty or if it will just be a flash in the pan run like Dabo Swinney at Clemson? I know you're more of an NFL guy but I'm curious to hear your thoughts
I think Durant and Larry Bird hold up similarly poorly to physical defense. Durant just had the luxury of being on playoff teams larping as a second option averaging 30ppg with another 30ppg scorer on the same team. Larry Bird was THE option and you can see he held up better than Durant did against Boston last season.
Eric Berry, he was a tough safety to throw against and he has a great comeback story but his career was somewhat ruined by injuries and he might be a little overrated as a result of his comeback story. Your thoughts Mr. McCockiner?
