    I live in England UK... Are your marshelling yards still in situ or have they met the same fate as ours

      I'm in Australia. A lot of ours have gone as well.

      There are still many, many marshaling yards in the US, having said that, some have been either idled or mothballed due to PSR (Precision Schedule Railroading) or the economic downturn during Covid. That said, traffic has been picking up steadily here recently, so the hope is the smaller yards will open back up. PSR is when railroads do less switching and pull longer, more mixed services, reducing the needed yards. It's a bit divisive in the railroad industry and community...to say the least, might be good to do your own in depth reading on the subject!
