Great video, watched it twice, spent $14 at Lowes for the valve and new filler flap and completed the job in 10 minutes. Saved me a bundle in plumber fees. Thanks!
Thank you for this easy to follow tutorial! Fixed our toilet that's been driving me bananas for months! Your video gave me the confidence to try it myself.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. My husband was out of town and the toilet was taking eons to fill. But with your help and a run to the hardware store, it’s as good as new. Your explanation and video made it crystal clear on how to replace the valve. Thank you!
Very informative video. Thank you. I've changed the flapper myself and now ready to attempt the filler because of it filling it slowly. After watching your video I feel confident enough to try it on my own. Thanks again!
I appreciate that you spoke slowly and clearly, pointing to each part as you talked about it. I feel confident that I can replace everything in that tank that needs it without paying a plumber $125.00. Thank you.
It’s 4 am in Western NY and I’m watching this b/c I’ve been dealing with a slow filling toilet for over 6 months and my landlord has ignored all request for him to check it. I think I’m just gonna go later today to Home Depot and get the part myself and fix it. Your video clearly explains the process and I’m confident I will be successful. 😊
It's a miracle! I fixed it. This video was so helpful...every step was easy to follow. The toilet was making a shrill sound and then started filling super slow. Watched your video and then replaced the fill valve and for good measure, the flap :-) As a single mom, I feel so good right now!!!!! $18 for the whole job!
Hi Branton!! Just wanted to say that your tutorial was very very good. It was slow with simple instructions and taught me quite a bit about this kind of stuff!! 😁 We managed to replace our valve simply without the help of our dad lol!! Thank you very much for this!!!
I watched several videos re this issue and yours is the most helpful. At the bottom of my filler neck, bubbles were coming up and my tank takes forever to fill. No leaks onto the floor. I have a well and very VERY iron--y water ( have a house filter that helps only a little). Your video will help me to replace the tank filler thingy. Thanks!
Going to pick up supplies at Home Depot in the morning and fix it myself! Tired of waiting for the men folk to come to the rescue! Thanks for great directions!
Just a quick note to say "thank you" for your step-by-step easy instructions. The only thing I did wrong (and hopefully this may help someone else) is first, not reading the instructions on the new Fluidmaster item (duh!) ... but it looked so simple on your video. Second, lefty-loosey/righty-tighty is opposite on the nut under the toilet. I wasn't paying attention to your hand when you did that in the video. I kept going left, left, left with the adjustable and couldn't figure out why it wasn't coming loose but just spinning the old Fluidmaster in the tank. Looked at the diagram on the instructions and "voila'", it is indeed opposite looking (clockwise). So, just remember when you're loosening the nut underneath for the water line, it will appear as if you're turning right and not left. Hope that was clearer than mud.
Very informative. I wondered how the black thing was installed. Mine is taking like 10 minutes to fill. I doubt I can get the bolt to turn like your's; mine is all rusted. I have no idea how to get it off.
With the height adjustment, apparently it can also rotate without removing that plastic retaining piece, for fine adjustment. Seems to work alright on the model I purchased recently, still ended up sliding the clear plastic retainer up a bit when my positioning was too low after I'd already installed the part.
You can just pull the top part of the valve off and replace that. Just measure how tall the first one was so you can push the new down to match the old one's height. Regards.
The only thing about having well water is that the filler will need to be replaced often. Now that we know how to do it on our own will save us lots of money.
I installed a new one but can't get the toilet to fill. Sounds like it's flushing still. Not sure. Any ideas? Thanks. PS I don't remember mine coming with the hose 😣
I’ll try that... your old tank guts fill your tank faster then mine so let’s hope. Plus I see a lot of people use steel braided line or hose for tank water line in from shit off valve but mine looks like 1/4 in copper or steel to bottom of tank 🤷🏻♂️
My toilet was filling slowly. I did a cleaning of the flush valve and it started working regularly. After a few days it went back to a slow fill, but if I turned the water off and back on it functioned perfectly. I repeated several flushes and it worked fine. several hours later was slow filling again. Turned water off and back on and it filled normally. Can’t figure out exactly whether it’s the fill valve or another problem. I don’t have flex hose, but a straight line into tank through a rigid tube. Just can’t figure out if I simply get a new fill valve will it solve problem, or if problem may be in the line somewhere. Odd that turning water off and back on makes fill valve work fine, even for several test flushes, but after an hour or more returns to slow fill, but when reaches a certain level of filling then automatically shifts to full fill. Really a puzzle to me.
The rubber inside your shut off valve might be old and flaking small bits inside which will clog the fill valve and cause it to work find when you turn it on and off again. I’d replace the shut off valve.
@@ContractorRyanFixes I wondered why you didnt try to clean out some of the white build up on the tank. the new valve will get stopped up from the same stuff. I use a cleaner like Dawn dish soap in my tank. I am on a well and have to be careful of what I use as a cleaner. my valve makes a squealing sound after tanks fills, guessing I need to change that valve. the video was helpful and easy to understand. thanks.
Well, replace the who valve isn't what I expected!..I know replace the whole !...It's why the newish one now fills slow. One toilet with a months old state of the art Home Depot float is now filling very slow. Back to the drawing board...
hey quick question, my tank fills, I flush, won't fill, I turn off valve, wait 1 minute, turn back on, tank fills, then flush, doesn't fill... rinse and repeat... is it a water supply issue ?
@@ContractorRyanFixes the tank only fills after the turn the valve off for 20 seconds and the back on , then it fills normally. But when I flush it won't fill until I turn the valve off/on again
Thanks for the question. If your house is brand new - I would still start by replacing the filler neck as I did here.. I've seen many filler necks broken or slow from the very first day they were installed.. You may also want to check the pressure coming out of the waterline itself.. If you have a flexible water line, you could put the line in a bucket - turn on the water and see what type of pressure you get. If you have poor pressure there may be a problem with your shutoff valve, in which case you will need a plumber to come replace the valve... But if the pressure is fine, and the bucket fills quickly - I'd be looking really hard at the filler neck..
Turn off water valve. Drain tank . Disconnect water inlet hose from the tank only. Stick hose in a clean bucket and turn the water back on. See if anything was in the line and if you get a strong flow. I get rocks in my line and they cut down the flow. That is what I do BEFORE testing water flow on the tank side of the filler valve. Good luck.
Lifeincali....Same here! My husband is definitely NOT the handyman type. Don't know if the fact that he has Bipolar Disorder has anything to do with it or he's just lazy.
seems like you had a little issue at the end there but you cut a bit of the video..would like to have seen the whole true fix..as a divorced woman, I'm trying to fix things on my own...was going to subscribe until then...but I did like it though.
Thanks for your comment, and i'm glad you liked the video. The only thing that was edited at the end of the video was I flushed the toliet again... I didn't see the point of filming another flush... Good luck with your future projects!!

Some times there a rubber piece inside the adjustable part of the filler, it gets in the way of the flow sometimes
from which point of the new mechanism does the water enter the tank?
