Just a note for anyone considering purchasing or using a car / bike dryer - as made very clear in this video and from my own experience when rushing and not using the right ear protection these can cause Tinnitus if not used with care. Trust me its not worth risking potential short or long term damage to your hearing. Heather looks like a great machine particularly like the relatively long hose on this version.
My mate bought a dog dryer from Amazon for £80 and it's actually superb, pretty much exactly the same thing but without the silly price because it says car detailing use.. Good vid BTW
You’ve convinced me to go and buy one, I’ve got an sq5 with loads of nooks and crannies where towelling just isn’t worth it, under bonnet around grill panoramic roof tailgate when open wheels etc, great video keep up the good work
FAB Vid.. I have one. Brilliant.. The BEST thing is with a car dryer is during wheel wash, Its stops the horrible Orange Rust on the discs, just hit the blower on discs during rinse. I have seen So many top detailers Vids giving their costumers back there pride and joy with this. Guess What.. Yep the inner barrel will be.... Yep Orange
Great video, I purchased the bigboi mini plus about 6 months ago and find it VERY useful, having a strong wind and a little heat it works a treat, also keeps your hands warm in the winter, I find it best for wing mirrors, wheels, and most definitely the grill, and agree with you ear protection would be a good idea not because of the machine noise but the high pitch whistling that is some times created by pointing it at the car. Having a well protected car definitely helps with water run off. I look forward to watching your videos, Keep up the good work.
Another top video Heather.. Its nice to see how comfortable you've become on camera. I personally have a compact Bosch air blower which suits me just fine. I get most water off the car then go in with a drying aid to finish up with towels.
@@AutoCareHQ No worries.. I went down the Obssessed Garage route of Power Lock + Collinite 845 and using beadmaker as a drying aid. However, I recently swapped out beadmaker for ONR and it works a treat.
I got a Bruhl MD2800 late 2017. It’s a twin fan type so very powerful and I couldn’t do without it. Dries the car in no time but is great for blowing debris from under seats to the footwells where you can easily vacuum, blowing dressing into grills and engine bays after they’ve been sprayed for even coverage and blowing leaves and dust out of your garage floor just to mention a few uses. It’s the safest way to dry a car but I just enjoy doing it that way. Much like foaming your car, blowing it dry is fun. As for not being so effective on unprotected cars. If you are the sort of person to buy a dryer, you’ll have a protected car. If you can afford it, I’d highly recommend a twin fan type. The extra power makes a huge difference.
Great video Heather was in 2 minds to get the big boi pro or the blo air gt decided to treat myself to the blo air gt used it for the first time today Jesus what a power house of a machine only had it 3 quarters of the way took bit longer than drying with towels but much better job no annoying drips from the mirrors number plates or grill love the long hose on it managed to go around the whole of my 4 x 4 and never had to move the unit once just left it at the front of my car brilliant obviously it works better on a ceramic waxed car used ceramic magiseal today definitely helps repel the water keep up the great informative videos 👍👌
Interesting and informative video Heather! I do tend to use a thick microfibre drying towel for the large areas, but I use my Titan vacuum cleaner to do the grill, mirrors and glass edges. Simply swap the hose from suction to the blow port on the back and voila a simple blow dryer. I got the Titan Vac from Screwfix for £65. Not only does it blow and dry vac but it can be used to wet vac upholstery etc too. It may not be the best, but for value for money for my car, I cant fault it!
Thanks Heather i was looking at getting a dryer this year and was looking at a few different models and types and this one looks good to. You did mention a few that i have been looking at i can now add this in to the mix and lets just wait and see what happens.
Thanks for watching! It's so hard to narrow down the selection there are loads of brands out there that do them. I watched so many videos before settling on this one!
Thank you for the video Heather 👍. I wondered what a car dryer would be like on hydrophilic paintwork so greatly appreciate you taking the effort to record how the dryer performs. Definitely pays to keep the paintwork hydrophobic. Another excuse for me to spend more time and money on paintwork protection products 👍🤣.
Great video on a great tool. I use our dog dryer more on our car then on the dog. It has adjustable power (powerful enough for my use) and two heating settings. Ideal for most areas of our cx5, including the wheels which are coated. I don’t dry the car all the way and use a drying towel for some little remaining droplets. The hose is a little short but i swing it around the neck en hold the blower itself in one hand and the end of the hose in the other.
Good video Heather, thanks. I washed my dad's new SUV today and whilst he doesn't usually have any interest, he came out to have a nose, he them spent a good 20 minutes chasing drips, I think he wishes I had one of these 😂. Something for the wishlist, along with a DI filtration system, man this detailing can be costly.
I thought that I didn't need a car dryer since I have a powerful leaf blower that could certainly do the job. But after using my blower to dry the car after a first wash, I have to say that your criticism of this piece of equipment is spot-on. While using the leaf blower carried at arm's length at your side is not a problem, lifting it to shoulder height to dry the roof or the hood (Oops! I mean bonnet) is entirely another matter. Powerful leaf blowers are heavy and not meant to be held and manipulated at heights. The nozzle and hose of a dedicated car dryer are considerably lighter and more manageable and therefore much more suited to car detailing.
Exactly the in depth review I was looking for, I'm very tempted by the Gt model or the Bigboi, the longer hose would definitely be a plus as the unit could stay in the garage and if I went for a Big boi they do a wall mount bracket but I think you have to buy the longer hose separately.
Great comprehensive video. Thanks for touching upon a big issue with all dryers - the noise. I find it's loudest between panels like between the door - the air channels in such a way that it creates loud high pitches that are quite unbearable at times. Ear protection is a must. That being said, for my own needs I still think the advantage of a touchless drying method is worth it.
Thanks for the video. Although it make take a bit more time to dry the car, it does mean that you don't have to wash all the micro fibre cloths, This is why I purchased one.
Very good video and thorough review Heather! This dryer is on my shopping list, as I always find those drippings you have mentioned annoying as well, especially after spending hours of cleaning my car. Them drippings ruin the whole picture at the end, doesn't matter the car seemed dry after using a towel, they still reappear all the time. You convinced me to get one, so it's time to write a letter to Santa and ask him to come early this year. 😅 Looking forward to the next one, keep it up Heather.
Thanks for another great in-depth unbiased review. I use a small Ryobi battery leaf blower and it does a great job but it can be difficult to use as you said. I’m considering a car dryer and this video helps. 👌🏼😁
I bought the GT dryer and the longer hose is very much needed for my large car. With the 8 metre hose I can do one half of my car and without moving it I can do the other section. Very good tool, but it's not very quick compared to a towel.
Great review. I have the Blo GT car dryer and I love it. The longer hose on the GT means you can dry a whole vehicle without moving the blo unit. A must have if you want a quality finish or doing any sort of clarity correction. It’s also great for drying when the doors, boot and bonnet are open. The filtered air is must have. The loudest part of using the blower I have found are when drying the wheel nuts. Please don’t ever use a leaf blower unless you want to pepper your car.
Thanks Simon! They're such handy pieces of equipment to have. I really appreciate mine when I'm waxing a car afterwards and don't get drips interfering with the process!
You read my mind, I am debating about whether I want to get one of these primarily for those spots where water pools up and can't get at with a towel. Like the dreaded water drip from the side mirrors. Thanks for this
I've got a sidekick blaster, it's pretty potent, only problem is I find myself not wanting to drag out the extension cord and get it set up. It's quicker to just get the towel.
I have the blo gt in Australia and it also has the one-position switch. I have a CLS MB with good paint and a ceramic wax as the regular coating, and water rolls off easy, you can dry whole bonnet from one corner and roof from one side, then finish just other side doors in a single move. I picked this over the bigboi because of the longer hose and it was 30% off on a sale. Really good unit.
Thanks Hearher, it would be great to cover your tips on how to use these and your experience perhaps along with a drying towel and how most efficiently to do it. I use a pet dryer because at the time most were actually the same but just priced and badges differently for car market. Always turn on low and win up the power and to make the hose extended before max power or the whistle is a street wakener!
To anyone maybe feeling discouraged it sometimes doesn't dry well, I think it's function shines the most in getting rid of water in areas you can't really dry with a towel, and you don't want to get surprised by the dripping water during your ceramic coating application...
My BigBoi blower is very similar I’m tempted to get the bigger version Heather there good bits of kit but are not cheap and mines the same no wheels there extra jet nozzle for the win 🥇
Great video thanks. Blower looks good, especially on great paint work. I use a leaf blower at the moment but it is embarrassingly loud and Like you said, a bit cumbersome. Will definitely check one of these out before my next door neighbour's get me arrested!!!
Water spots maybe issue with dryers in the summer as by the time we got round to the whole car panels are already drying by themselves . Not a problem in U.K as we don’t get no summer but other countries may have issues
This review shows the big negatives of this drying method. 1. Takes far longer 2. Very noisy 3. Does not work on non protected paintwork. Another negative i found with a pet dryer is ,mine made the water droplets dry out before moving off the car on the heat setting, not sure if you found the same? Ended up with lots of tiny water marks. I don't use mine anymore, but do use it to clean the inside of computers, very useful for that! As an alternative, have you tried DI water vessel? This is water that you can let dry on the car and it will not leave water marks, you can also use water collected by a dehumidifier after drying clothes. This is about 20/30 PPM instead of 0 PPM from the DI vessel, but neither will leave water marks. Race Glaze and VYair are the best well known. Might be an idea for another video, especially if you can get one sent discounted or FOC.
I keep looking at these and blo do seem to be the ones to have but think I’m going to got the cordless route, won’t be as powerful but no cables and hoses to cart about then just use on wheels, grills etc and towel dry most areas as usual.
I have the Blo Air GT which cost £200+ & a £50 pet dryer, the BLO is nice & shiny , has wheels & a 8m hose but to me it's not actually much better than my £50 Ebay special. The BLO specifications are woefully over exaggerated because you cannot physically generate 8HP from a device that only draws 10AMP., In colder weather the air is barely warm because it doesn't have a dedicated heating element & relies on the heat generated by the motors and once it has travelled 8m along the hose it is almost cold... Be very careful with the nozzles as they break very easy !!. All in all , i would not buy another & consider the pet dryer a much better option. However, both are great for wheels, mirrors etc and all the areas which modern cars seem to hold the water.. There is also definitely a knack to using a dryer cos initially you just end up chasing water about.. I use my pet dryer in the winter to keep me warmer & the BLO GT during milder times.Just my opinion .
Thanks for watching :) I've never actually tried that as I'm a bit worried about blowing the dust into even more difficult to reach areas but I've heard it's quite a popular use for them so I reckon it'd be quite effective if you get the hang of it!
Give the rise in electric prices what kind of cost would it be roughly per drying ? I know right now we are watching how much everything is costing via the meters you have in a home to run so maybe something to consider for others
I bought a pet dryer about 7 years ago it for £70 (now £140+) it called Aeolus Cyclone TD-901T which was popular on detailingworld it was a beast and also blower hot or cold, just needed to get a longer hose but mine broken down now in the market for a new blower but I don't think I can find anything as powerful as my pet blower , how do you work out the feet per min, my pet blower was 60 m/s (metres per second) and tried to convert it oj google and its coming up at 11,811 feet per min surely I have calculated that wrong or is that right?
Hi just seen this vid of yours great . My interest was your MX5 lovely . If just took delivery of one in black RF dreading its first clean . I know black is the worst colour to keep nice an clean .. we’re are you in the country I’m in Nottingham would love you to come an put protection an clean it for me 🙏🙏😂😂cheers mike.
Congrats on the new car, cracking choice! I'm up north unfortunately though! I'm sure there will be plenty of people around your way that will be able to help though :)
Save a bit of money and buy a pet dryer, there plenty 2800w plus ones on the market for fairly cheap. Theres some products that suffer from a "detailing tax" and I think dryers fall into that category
These blowers are very useful but massively overpriced when labelled as a car detailing product. You can get the same thing for £50 as a pet dryer. Marketing values on this are also nonsense. 43,500 cubic feet a minute is equivalent to over 5600mph.
Thanks for this thorough review. I follow you on Insta, which is where I first learned about this car dryer. I'm actually surprised and somewhat disappointed to learn that it takes just as long if not longer to dry the car this way. Surely the main benefit here ought to be the time saved drying the car, no? For the mirrors, I just wrap a micro-fibre towel round the mirrors and hold it in place with a peg or something while I dry the rest of the car. I just think for something this expensive the main benefit should be the time saving?!
You deserve more subs for your in-depth yet concise views. Enjoying your format a lot.
Thanks very much Jean I really appreciate it!
Had mine for 1 year now, great dryer and relatively cheap amongst other brands
Just a note for anyone considering purchasing or using a car / bike dryer - as made very clear in this video and from my own experience when rushing and not using the right ear protection these can cause Tinnitus if not used with care. Excellent well done video!! Im currently looking for a dryer & this has definitely helped. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Must have been reading my mind... thanks Heather... done all my research in one video. You're a 🌟

There’s definitely a knack to using an air dryer, I find you get better and more efficient the more you use it. Another great video 👍

I use it too, it’s pretty silent except when you put air on the lug nuts… air is so loud !
Works awesome I’m super happy of it
Great review. Just ordered this dryer based on your review. Thanks 😊
Another top video Heather.. Its nice to see how comfortable you've become on camera. I personally have a compact Bosch air blower which suits me just fine. I get most water off the car then go in with a drying aid to finish up with towels.

Cheers David I'm glad you found it helpful!
Great video....have a great week from the 🇺🇸
Thanks for watching Mike!
I bought the GT dryer and the longer hose is very much needed for my large car. With the 8 metre hose I can do one half of my car and without moving it I can do the other section. Very good tool, but it's not very quick compared to a towel.
Great review, covered one of the main questions I had - How well does it dry on poorer coated vehicles.
Great review, thinking of getting this model myself 👍
Thanks for watching!
You read my mind, I am debating about whether I want to get one of these primarily for those spots where water pools up and can't get at with a towel. Like the dreaded water drip from the side mirrors. Thanks for this
Thanks for watching I'm glad you found it useful!
Good work. Really interested in getting one of these. You should tap them up to partner them after such a review 👍
I've got a sidekick blaster, it's pretty potent, only problem is I find myself not wanting to drag out the extension cord and get it set up. It's quicker to just get the towel.
Great video and really informative. That dribble trail from the mirrors is very frustrating! I might well invest.
Cheers Peter, it's definitely worth considering!
Who had it 30% off? lol, I'm in Sydney.
I like this one I’ve been looking for the handheld one the and it’s sold out everywhere
Thanks for watching and good idea! There's definitely a knack to getting the best out of it!
To anyone maybe feeling discouraged it sometimes doesn't dry well, I think it's function shines the most in getting rid of water in areas you can't really dry with a towel, and you don't want to get surprised by the dripping water during your ceramic coating application...
That’s me sold on one. Great test!
Thanks very much!
My BigBoi blower is very similar I’m tempted to get the bigger version Heather there good bits of kit but are not cheap and mines the same no wheels there extra jet nozzle for the win 🥇
The Pro version looks brilliant, I can imagine the controls on the nozzle itself being really useful
Great video thanks. Blower looks good, especially on great paint work. I use a leaf blower at the moment but it is embarrassingly loud and Like you said, a bit cumbersome. Will definitely check one of these out before my next door neighbour's get me arrested!!!
Cheers John! Haha I know the feeling, I was machine polishing the other day as well as using this beforehand so my neighbours definitely hate me 😂
Haha 😄 I think they think I'm mad!
I ordered it two days ago, God willing, I will arrive and try it excellent, see comments

This review shows the big negatives of this drying method.
1. Takes far longer
2. Very noisy
3. Does not work on non protected paintwork.
Another negative i found with a pet dryer is ,mine made the water droplets dry out before moving off the car on the heat setting, not sure if you found the same?

I have the GT model, one of my favourite purchase’s, can’t say the neighbours agree with that 😁🎧
Hi Heather, I'm assuming the noise is from the jet of air from the nozzle hitting a surface. Is the unit itself noisy?
Thanks for this great video. I want to know what camera gear you’re using for filming?
Thanks for watching :) I use a Canon 60D camera for most of my filming and a Rode Videomic
Great video, thanks
I keep looking at these and blo do seem to be the ones to have but think I’m going to got the cordless route, won’t be as powerful but no cables and hoses to cart about then just use on wheels, grills etc and towel dry most areas as usual.
Yeah I definitely think if you just plan on using it for the areas which are hard to reach with a towel than a cordless option is the route to go down
Looks good 👍 I know shAt you mean regarding water spots.
I have the GT model and it's great 👍
Great choice, that model looks great

Hi there - just wondering if you still use this , or have you changed to another one ?
Yep still using this one
If it's exide 70 DB have ear protection long term it will save your ear drums.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!
Still happy with it? Thinking about buying one to dry my motorbike
Do you ever use it inside the car to blow out dust in difficult places? Was just looking at getting one so interesting video....

Give the rise in electric prices what kind of cost would it be roughly per drying ? I know right now we are watching how much everything is costing via the meters you have in a home to run so maybe something to consider for others
Just had a quick Google and it looks like 2800W for 10 min of use is working out at about 13p
@@AutoCareHQ just something I could see users being concerned about etc with rising costs of electricity
I think that sounds about right. Most pet dryers I saw were falling around that level when they used ft/min units
I use a Stihl leaf blower but it’s risky as I might accidentally touch the car with it
How much did you pay ?
Save a bit of money and buy a pet dryer, there plenty 2800w plus ones on the market for fairly cheap. Theres some products that suffer from a "detailing tax" and I think dryers fall into that category
Pet dryers aren’t filtered though, so you will end up blowing grit at you paint
If you don’t need the heat function you can use a wet vac that can take attachments on the exhaust.
Where are you based would like you to come a detail my car
Lets try brand bigboi..
leaf blower with a stubby way faster.
You look gorgeous
👍👍👍👍👌👌😊😊😊😊
These blowers are very useful but massively overpriced when labelled as a car detailing product. You can get the same thing for £50 as a pet dryer. Marketing values on this are also nonsense. 43,500 cubic feet a minute is equivalent to over 5600mph.
I’ve got a pet dryer but they are nowhere near as powerful as something like this
Thanks for this thorough review.
I use my Titan hoover from screwfix which has a blow function
Doesn't look that powerful for the price
