- Convicted killer Jens Soering is speaking out over a new Netflix docuseries called “Till Murder Do Us Part," filmed about the infamous and brutal 1985 murders of Derek and Nancy Haysom in Bedford County.
The lead investigator who helped send him to prison is also breaking his silence.
After first confessing he committed the crime alone, Soering has spent the last 33 years proclaiming his innocence.
He says he only confessed to save his then-girlfriend Elizabeth Haysom from the electric chair, thinking he would be deported to his home country of Germany.

At a minimum he’s guilty of being an accessory to murder and is hardly “innocent”. The letters and their joint fleeing is damnng.
He is guiltily as charged
I don't understand why he's stating that he spends 33 years in prison and making me feel sorry for him. He should understand that he was an accomplice somehow. That's what they get if they're found guilty. At the end of the day 2 people died and they were responsible for it.
That's what many people don't understand. He's not innocent either way.
This guy deeply believes his own lies. You can’t do anything with someone like that.
Jens is super arrogant. He's a free man and still keeps wanting to convince people for some reason. At this point he needs to shut up and move on. People who believe him will continue to believe him and people who don't will continue to think he's guilty. Go live your life - this is over. Stop making this about you when it's about the victims!
I have to agree 100% with the U.S. justice system on this one. I would have done the exact same thing.
Who the fuck cares which one is less quilty and more quilty, clearly it was a conspiracy and they were both quilty to begin with. Throw them both in jail for 30 years and give them time to think about their stupid decisions.
He is guilty because he is "arrogant" and writes a book? Interesting! 😂 I think he is super humble.
@@freakattack69😂
It is easy for you to say.I think there is a reasonable doubt in this case.
@@Tom-lv2mv I agree.
I wonder where was that guy who have bring their food order in room.where is that guy? That guy knows who were in hotel.don’t u guys think so?
Literally exactly what I was wondering!!!
OMG finally someone said it outloud. Also they couldn't have done it together, UNLESS there was a third. Because someone who have to had put that signature which is impossible if they had both gone too the parents' home.
Saying "right" after every sentence doesn't automatically make it more true.
It would have been better for Jens if, like his girlfriend, he had taken on a new identity and started a new life instead of selling a double murder in dime novels or on Netflix as a romance with a toxic woman. Of course, 33 years in prison in the United States motivated him to do this.
He still lives in the belief that someone will absolve him of his guilt. Not even his father would do this.
To take on a new identity here in Germany? Not as easy as in the States. And: germany is the countray of millions of papers. He would never ever get a job. His reputation would make that impossible and he has no degrees for anything. Maybe he could work for amazon and die there. Terrible for an intelligent man. At least he does not live on our social security system. He earns his own money. This would not work if he admitted to be guilty - if he is. I do not know.
Does Jens want us to believe that he spent 33 years in prison because someone else committed a crime? He claimed to have knowledge of the crime and the double murder from his girlfriend, but does not want to provide information about the real murderer? Not even a stupid drunken idiot in love would do that!
This love story is completely illogical.
If I were innocent, I would also fight this hard. I believe Jens.
For this murderer everything that doesn't fit his carefully curated cluster of feeble excuses constitutes "junk science". He never truly addresses the technicalities and specifics about the sock print that do point to him not others. It has been proven the sock print is not Elizabeth's. The overlay of her footprint is way disimilar from the sock print whereas his overlay shows how high end specifics fit the sock print, like the considerable gap between toes in both prints. When quizzed about that he immediately and robotically avoids the question by coming up with fallacious hearsay.
Another thing he avoids is allowing any new DNA analysis because nowadays DNA science is way more advanced than how it was five, let alone fifteen, years ago. He has been offered this way-out to clean his name but he adamantly refuses to approve of such proceeding.
He keeps saying two unidentified men were there, and assumingly assisted Elizabeth in killing the Haysoms, but the truth is DNA testing has ruled this out. He clings on what one professor says about this while obviating what a group of other experts, including some on "his side", have said about this.
How come in all of the letters they exchanged, that so called “swapping of responsibility” is NEVER mentioned
I think they both were present at home on that time.but I think this is their strategy for whole 30 years.n it succeeds now.they both are free now.
Yeah, let’s just both go to the parents house and then point fingers at each other for the rest of our lives. Then one day we’ll be free because nobody can prove anyone did it. I agree with what you said. This case is so wild
Ist the surprise ending that he is a psychopath and making money of a double murder?
Would a socalled "normal" person in a situation like this murder case, step next to the bloody footprint (to compare?) somebody left at the crime scene, while cleaning the house to sell it? I bet nobody would!! This is so weired!! A behavior of a sociopath.
Jens’ arrogance is apparent in his refusal to speak English for an American documentary. His version and hers combined indicate his total guilt. She didn’t kill them. They did it. End of story. They were BOTH did it and should have been found guilty together. There is no way he’d let her do something so dramatic without him. Oh, and BTW this “older woman” BS is exactly that. She was a year older. That’s not sufficient to qualify as an “older woman”. They were co-dependent and I’ll buy that she was there with him, just as her brother said. I think they were both guilty.
OMG, he spoke German in a German production. Finally, case closed. By the way, she's two years older, plus some extra months. Between 18 and 20 that does make a difference. She'd also lived on her own for some time and was much more confident. Maybe, the dynamic between the two changed later on. When it comes to year theorie, well, it's just that. And a wild one at it.
True. And men usually need a longer period of time to grow up, become self condident. And he may have lived in the SUN of his fathers reputation. But I do not know that, just imagining. His vids are all to be seen in both of his languages. Maybe she wonders, why he is speaking German ind the netflix series?@@christiangwenner6384
He may not have been allowed to.
The documentary makers probably wanted him to speak in German for the "look" of their film
Well, at 7.17 in this documentary from 2008, he says he wishes to never ever speak english anymore - ever again. If he only could ...

New book by Jens Söring: "How to make money out of a double murder".
his smiling at the trial as well as at the interviews make me believe that its dupers delight, subsconscious reaction to a lie
great stuff, keep going Jens :) the interview went well
I find it chilling that Elizabeth Haysom testified against Jens. If Jens is correct, that testimony was provided knowing full well that he was innocent.
lol, he’s absolutely not innocent.
She's a psychopath. Psychopaths don't give a shit about anyone else.
Why won't she back his story if she's already pleaded guilty?
Psychopathy.
@@silva7493 Elizabeth has been consistently remorseful all along in every possible capacity since her trial. Jens, on the other hand, resorts to mere feeble excuses, such as discarded comments about a female perpetrator to make his untrained audience assume it was Elizabeth when in fact when those comments were made the person being referred to was one of Elizabeth's half-brother's girlfriend. He is simply a conman.
This man is guilty!
RIP Nancy and Derek Haysom.
He's lying
They both did it! Not possible that one person will kill two people by a knife and the two victims don't have a chance to fight back.Couse you can't stab the frist victim by not make any noise or called for help. And In the crime scene police said someone took shower but she said when he back he have blood all over..she was lie.So they both are murderer.
This exact theory has perplexed me eternally around the Idaho 4 murders! 4 students violently slashed to death in a fraternity house with 2 others in the house all by apparently 1 person and yet not one of the deceased made a peep whilst witnessing their best friend being stabbed.?
Seriously! 2 people ( at least ) know what happened that night and yet neither has told the truth. If Jens was INNOCENT a he would have told the works who killed Elizabeth’s parents because he def knows. BUT he is a LEO and will want the limelight and will only let the cat out the bag in his dying memoir.
@@user-jg2se2po8n that case not make sense for me either.. The roommate that Survived called 911 in 8 hours later🧐🤔
Jens Soering made a false confession and saved Elizabeth Haysom's life. That's a fact. Evidence is their letters private. Söring made his first confession to a German public prosecutor's office. His trial was to take place in Germany, but since he had no immunity he had to be extradited to Virginia. In Germany, he would only have received a maximum of 10 years in prison. Therefore, Söring made a false confession so that Elisabeth Haysom does not get a trial.
Im quite surprised how this guy who killled two people got released from prison, USA justice system is broken and mind boggling bet you someone influential pulled strings to get them released.
To all legal professionals in the USA:
A Jury has been duped
There is no evidence to justify a double murder. That is why Jens Söring's verdict is a miscarriage of justice. Perhaps Netflix can recommend a law firm to file for a retrial. This resumption would be won with a large severance payment. Worldwide, there are law firms outside the U.S. based outside or in the U.S., or lawyers in the U.S., who are not afraid of court because they have nothing to fear, e.g. disadvantages.
Mr Soering must be rehabilitated at all costs.
Please help him whoever is reading this. The truth is that otherwise he will forever remain a double murderer until the end of his life.
He was deprived of his freedom for 33 years, 6 months and 25 days.
It was a deprivation of liberty.
All critics can voluntarily be locked up for a short period of time.
There is absolutely no way possible Jens did it. Unfortunately some people just have the attitude of “don’t confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up.”
They both did it....Strong and long list of evidence for it!
If Jens is innocent then why did Elizabeth tell everyone that he is as guilty as she is. What is Jens point of view abt this
The guilt she claims is for lying and manipulating Jen into killing her parents, which is the lesser evil compared to actually claiming responsibility for murdering her parents herself. It's a lot easier to admit you're a liar than it is to admit you're a killer and the legal consequences to being guilty to either are very different. She never wanted Jen to get out because he protested his freedom with the claim that it wasn't him that did the killing and that it was her. If he was believed and set free then it would mean SHE was the killer. I don't know if it would've affected her sentencing or if she could've been tried again (but this time for the murders itself) , but it does seem to me that saying things like "he is as guilty as I am" is just her way of saving her own skin, because if he's found not guilty for the killings then that would fall on HER.
Remember, she only pleaded guilty to two counts of accessory to murder before the fact and her sentence was subject to mandatory parole; she would've been released automatically in 2032, 45 years after her conviction. Jen was the one charged with 2 counts of first degree murder and sentenced to two consecutive life terms. I can imagine that her sentencing was a better deal than his and in order for her to keep it she needed to make sure he took the blame for the first degree murders.
Jens is looking for fame not resolve.
because she's a pathological liar
Taking into account the body language he said yes with his head in the court while he was saying no verbally.
To all critics:
In London, Söring once again had to make a false confession. The EUGH for Human Rights only airs him out when Virginia is in the death cell. So guess what would have happened if Soering had ever made a false confession. Then Elizabeth Haysom and Jens Soering would have been sentenced to the tide. That's one too many!
why did he speak in german the whole series and now he is speaking in english ? I knew he could speak in english from other parts of the series like the Geraldo talk show but yeah I don't understand ...what was the purpose? drama ?
Because he can.
Can’t you see the interviewer is American ? People there don’t speak any foreign language
He’s banned from coming to America, he more than likely film that in Germany
He was answering to a german person...the fault is Netflix who did not translated that part to english because I listened it in Spanish and there is a voice translation in spanish version...also I would speak Spanish in something as serious as this, as it is my mother tongue.
what is clearly misleading is this prosecutor tells the juru you have blood there in the crime scene because the blood results were blood type O, I wonder this was taught at Sesame street with his sock print 😂
I feel they both did it. Jen thought if he will confess and deported to Germany ,he have to go to jail for only 5 years. Then he can free and be with Elizabeth. But when he eventually knew that its not possible to go to Germany and Heard Elizabeth putting all the blame on him , he just took a U tern.
He narrated whole incident and confess each and everything in very meticulously. Who was sitting where , about the dog and instead of 'i " he used "we".
Or may be its yheir plan not to take the blame at any cost and at one point of time they will escape like they escaped.
yeah Jens you killed those people
Imagine murdering two people in order to be able to sleep with a bird…🙄
I have to agree 100% with the U.S. justice system on this one. I would have done the exact same thing.

He always leaves out his detailed confessions ...
Several detailed confessions.
Yep, three confessions which corresponding with the forensic evidence at the crime scene. Not smart enough to know the millage on a RENTAL CAR is recorded.
To all critics:
Mr. Soering was 18 years old and did not want his girlfriend to be executed in the electric chair. So he made a confession to the German public prosecutor's office in Bonn. This prosecutor flew to London and neared the confession. If the trial had taken place in Germany, Soering would have been sentenced for a maximum of 10 years under the Juvenile Act. Since he did not have the diplimatic immunity that he would have needed but did not know it, he had to be extradited to Virginia
So if this was the plan why did he not flee straight to German? And if he was innocent why did he flee at all?
If nothing of him matches the crime scene....are all judges, witnesses, state attorney too stupid to deal with this case? The lot of talking in this case is his responsibility. He doesn't do himself a favour.
They do not want to admit mistakes
I can imagine, that especially in Virginia, they hardly ever admit to have made a mistake. And they would have to pay him a lot of money for wrongfully being incarcerated. But I do not have a personal feeling, guilty, not guilty? I do not know.
well after years in prison Jens, now like guys. , USA prison showers can really change your gender dispositions LOL
he’s weird lolol lock him up. even if one of them didn’t go back to Virginia, they both knew what was going to happen.
Des hast aber davor auch noch nie gesagt dass du lieber dort leben würdest, steuern zahlen würdest usw😉
Noreen, I favour your longterm efforts in this case but before you are just adopting Soering hammering his dogmatic arguments for his so called 100% alibi, please ensure having your own background of information straight.
1. Yale Feldman only testified his own theory about that what is fact. That is only a period of time in which the price for the room service had reached the reception to charge the credit card. Nothing else, no specific time of ordering, ,no specific details of what had been ordered and no specific time of bringing in what had been ordered! The only thing which could help as a fact is the tip log which is missing due to the long term the investigation needed to investigate the events happened in DC!
2. The "evidence" from the manager of the Outer Circle movie theatre just confirm that the 2 numbered movie tickets of the 10.15 pm show is correct. The theatre have around 280 seats and the printed numbers on the tickets refer to the mid sale of all seats. But nothing more. A 100% alibi would sound like that the manager would had testified that he in person had sold Soering the tickets at around 8 or 9pm. But there are more than one options why Soering and also Haysom could have proceed the murders in LC and also got in possessions of these printed tickets. One great explanation would sound like you go to tge ticket salesperson, declare that you are a stubcollector and that you will pickup two tickets (within a number range) the next day. Wow. What a great plan after the dinner scene had planned out, but the burglary appearance at the crime scene had been replaced by voodooism. The fact that Haysom was so unsecure about this staged movie alibi should be obvious. It was not her idea (Jens told me to buy tickets) and it was faked that both will be able to do do an attack from both directions. More important than Jens' manila envelope from 1991 by the manager of the cinema is the Manila envelope with the tax declarations of Derek Haysom which had been postmarked at April 01 st IN DC! Soering had ignored this strong evidence against both ever since, cause both had been expected to help Derek with it on that Saturday. So the killers had picked it up. What Soering really dislikes at the last minutes of the Netflix documentary is his audio taped freudan promise in which he admitted that both had been driven to Bedford on that Saturday 🤷
Noreen trying to get the Edward R Morrow award. Not the best media in the area

I had a look at the astrology of this crime- they were both there together. Both are guilty and Jens as a Leo just loves the limelight.
Would you mind saying a little more about your theory? I believe in astrology. Also, they say that narcissists accusations are his confesions. I think they were both there, and now they point their fingers to each other.
