You also aren't supposed to let the Whirley Pop pre-heat. You dump your oil, salt, and kernels, then turn the heat to medium. Once you hear the first pop you turn the crank until you can't turn it anymore. It's so perfect every single time.
I don't understand the dumping of the sugar in just one spot and letting it sit there. Shouldn't the popcorn be stirred to mix the sugar with all the popcorn?
This is awesome. My wife recently purchased me a whirley pop and I just gave it a go for the first time making a basic olive oil, salt, and pepper popcorn. We love kettle corn from local festivals; I’m going to have to give this a try. Thanks!
Just curious as to why you shake the pot a lot. All of the other videos Ive seen on this product use the handle to crank and move the popcorn around. One reason Ive not made popcorn on our stove like yours is Ive been worried about scratching the top.
I dont have a whirly pop but used this as a guide to make sweet popcorn on the stove top for the first time. I've done it about 6-7 times now and only burnt it once, and not even too badly :) thank you!
Good stuff!! I just bought a whirley pop already made some medium white, with "ballpark" seasoning and some butter and it was delish! My youngest wants me to make some sweet kettle corn! Looks like I'll be trying this tonight!
Hi there! I commented on this video before, but that wanted to tell you, that for people with diabetes, you can make kettle corn, using a blended and combined mixture of monk fruit sweetener and allulose. Whatever you do, DO NOT use erythritol, as that whenever you use it in its man made or synthetic form, it can give you a cooling sensation in your mouth and I'm sure you wouldn't want that! Finally, one way or the other though, whether you use monkfruit/allulose blend or pure cane sugar, your oil to sugar ratio is just much better than the kettle corn recipe in the whirley pop owner's manual, as with their's, it's just not sweet enough. So, I like your recipe better!
You're right for sure! That is what the handle is for, but in a whirley pop smaller kernels can slide under the bottom spindles, it gives all kernels a guaranteed movement.
It's also important to use the product correctly people.. that is exactly why this was invented, so you don't have to shake and toss a pan full of hot oil..
I always just put it all in at once. I've never had to shake my pot. thats a lot more work than I've ever put in and it's usually done in under 2 minutes.
Technically yes, but do not recommend. The density, moisture, and texture are completely different. Higher chance of burning the sugar to the bottom of pan and to popcorn. Also measurement would need to be lowered to allow these factors, so you might not taste as much of the balance as wanted. But its fun to experiment, if you try it let me know how it turns out?
You shake it in the beginning before it pops to keep it moved around. The swirl mechanism really only works when it starts to pop. It works with the kernels but when you add the sugar it thickens which wont turn very well. If that all made sense
@@codystephens5939 wrong the mechanism works in stirring the kernels. If the wires are not moving the kernels then, you need to adjust your wires to catch the unpopped kernels......per Whirlypop.
Hi Richard, thank you for your reply. As bowls come in many shapes and sizes I cannot provide exact calorie count. But there is approx 250 calories per 50g (2.75 cup) based on comparitive national brands. Hope that helps.
@@codystephens5939 Pour 3 tablespoons of your oil or butter with a half a cup of popcorn and place over medium heat and use the crank stir until popping stops. Usually 2 1/2 to 3 minutes for the whole process.
lol. Buys Whirly-Pop, shakes pan. The crank is there for a reason.

There are several recipes and instructions on the net, you tube for making kettle corn but, I believe yours is the best. Thank you.
I make this in a regular sauce pan and found that it is also great with a teaspoon of salt added to the sugar.
Whirley Pop is the best popcorn maker. But the crank is there for a reason. ;)
I have 2 whirley pops and absolutely love them keep posting more videos
Just made this for the myself and had to make another batch cause my kids ate all of it! Thank you for sharing.
Nailed it! Thanks for making me look like a genius.
This lady is a popcorn scientist and I love it! I hope she posts more videos someday
thank you so much for the video! I bought a popper tonight at the thrift store and used your recipe! its increcible!

Such a sweet lady. (I bet she's a good witch.)
You are such a bright spirit. Its time to take your channel to a new level.
THANK YOU!!! Great experience and results, everyone loved it!!!!
This popcorn was so perfectly amazing! Thank you! ❤

It’s probably to make sure any that gets pushed into the edge of the pot don’t get stuck and all kernels keep moving.
You can lift it a little to shake to not scratch anything.
I’m here wondering the same thing. The entire magic of the pot is the crank..
Great video! Very professional. You’re a natural.
You're correct about safety!! We love ours. Perfect popcorn.
Very helpful recipe thank you

Thank you! Worked perfectly! I used olive oil. Everything worked like a charm!
Worked perfectly thank you, finally one that works!!
Tastes better than the store bought version. Love it 😊
Thanks for the video. Great stuff

Very informative. Thanks!
One recommendation I would make is to have 1/3 cup of kernels instead.
That way there usually almost no unpopped kernels at the end
Crank it

I just subscribed to your channel! 🎉🎉🎉
Great first video - Great job Sara ❤️
Thank you
Nice lady, nice vid, thanks!
What you said don’t do you did 😂
I have listened three times now and don't know the measurment for the corn? The sugar and oil, yes but not the popcorn. ???????????
1/2 cup popcorn.
Doesn’t shaking the Whirley Pop scratch the glass cooktop?
Just lift it a little, shaking keeps the kernels from getting stuck along the inside edge.
Why the constant shaking of the pot? That's what the crank is for, right? No disrespect intended
You're right for sure! That is what the handle is for, but in a whirley pop smaller kernels can slide under the bottom spindles, it gives all kernels a guaranteed movement.
Finally made it. It was really good...not too much sugar. But you should have posted what the measurements were.
She did at the beginning of the video, tf you watching?
You don’t know how to use a whirley pop. You crank the handle to stir it, you don’t shake it on the burner like a regular pot.
God use the handle to turn it!! Drive me nuts! Why even have this if you're not going to use it correctly!?!?
It's also important to use the product correctly people.. that is exactly why this was invented, so you don't have to shake and toss a pan full of hot oil..
Why not add all the popcorn in all at the beginning?
You want the oil really hot to start popping as fast as possible so you dont burn the kernels
@@codystephens5939 but the instructions say not to preheat it...it says to put in everything and then turn on the heat
I always just put it all in at once. I've never had to shake my pot. thats a lot more work than I've ever put in and it's usually done in under 2 minutes.
@@codystephens5939 I always add the popcorn with the oil. Been doing it for 9+ years and never have burnt even 1 kernel.
What is the point of having the whirly- pop if you're just going to shake the pot?
Won't the sugar burn the whirlypop?
Thata why you shake it before it starts to pop.
Could you use brown sugar instead?

I don’t get it why are you shaking it you bought the pot to have a starter inside to stir it stir

This gal ain't running on all 8
Why in the world is she shaking the popper on a glass top stove when all you have to do is stir it .
How many calories in the whole bowl?

You don't know how to use your Whirley Pop.
You don't hVevto shake it...the handle has a gadget to move the popcorn kernels.
You don't say how many kernels
Wow it sounds to hot?...
Why use the popcorn popper if you're not going to follow the BASIC directions?

Yea try that out....
No way! Maybe one or two teaspoons!
