Props to the guy asking what 'misogynistic' means. Having the balls to admit not knowing something on camera and wanting to make the right decision is not something everybody would do.

“You have to make money for people to realize it’s actually a career”

If you're going through college, your parents aren't going to ride your ass about being poor and not making money Because they know that you're in school and have a chance of a high paying career after. In a similar vein, these people dedicate time towards building a career out of gaming but their families only view it as a waste of time, not seeing the potential to make money

@@mia-paris5533 I'm not sure, I mean the whole gaming community like she said isn't Anti Women. It's more so younger kids who hear some of the older people. I've been starting to play games recently, basically warzone rn. I haven't encountered anyone being rude to me when I have my mic on but it could also just be I haven't encountered rude people in the game. the most I've ever heard was "oh" when they heard my voice and another time where some little kid said I was bad (I didn't have my mic on so that was just toxic in general.) Most people just care about playing the game and when it's competitive they get mad. I'm not gonna lie I've gotten mad too while playing. The girl seems like she just decides to not take it to heart and ignores it which is reasonable. Also going back to it she thought of the question as if they were asking if the "Gaming Community is anti-women"
She has big brain what she said was straight facts
Nah I think she's right. Both men and women get insults based on their gender. With men it's just more sophisticated because the other person telling you that insult is also a man. So instead they will call you "weak", "loser", "virgin" and other things that sort of mean you fail at traditional masculinity while with women they simply go "lol wahmen" and that's it. At the end, no matter your gender, your skill is the only thing that matters.

When it came to the misogyny question, I wished they had talked a bit more about the role of appearance. Especially in streaming, being conventionally attractive seems to play a much larger role for women than for men in determining the size of their following. There are a lot of people who will watch a guy that's skilled at playing a game, regardless of his appearance, but will only watch a girl if she's "hot"
Samantha Mahoney ok boomer
it gets to the point that it only matters whether or not they're attractive and skill level goes out the window. not often, but I've seen it
@@ohyeahyeah8647 you're not very bright are you
@@Cj-ul2ye Yeah for sure, which isn't really fair. There's pretty girls out there and some of them don't even genuinely love games and just want money, meanwhile there might be girls who are considered less attractive but who put a lot of effort and passion into what they're doing
That’s mainly due males gamers being in larger presence and oftentimes more relatable, plus there are no reasons male gamers to branch out and watch people who they don’t relate to or find reason to stay other than she’s “HOT”.

She means that they won't believe its a legitimate career until you yourself are making it. It's a akin to saying "you're not making any money as a lawyer, so being a lawyer is not a legitimate career" which we all know is crap.
@@Jombo1 this is how my family operates. Literally you could be a doctor, and if you're not making money, you don't have a job to them. Like a doctor who volunteers in a 3rd world country......if there is no money, my family think you're just being frivolous 🤷🏾♀️
Jombo not really. Lawyers are a proven market. Gaming isn’t, at least to older generations. A better comparison would be your family doubting an entrepreneurs novel business idea or invention because a demand hasn’t been proven.
@jumbo I had the opportunity to play some minor-pro hockey in Sweden, but I wouldn't have ever called it a career... Wouldn't have provided enough money for me (right away) to sustain myself unless I had a job in the offseason, let alone save for retirement. Who are the characters in the game, and what do women look like in the game and what are they doing. My experience is that women are hyper-sexualized in a good majority of video games.
Men are also hyper sexualized in those same games. Look at league of legends for example

Everyone: *I'm now going to do what is called a Pro Gamer Move*
I think there was some confusion about a couple of the questions. Like 'Gaming culture is misogynistic' could've been easily misunderstood as it asking 'Are video games misogynistic'. Another example, 'Competitive gaming is just as demanding as a physical sport' seemed like it was easily read as 'Competitive gaming is just as *physically* demanding as a physical sport'. In the moment with a countdown going on it can be confused and I'm not sure how much clarification they got before moving. Being a chess grandmaster could be as demanding as being a pro footballer, but obviously not physically.
Damn put well.
Nah, they said "gaming culture" not "video games". "gaming culture" is the society/culture of gaming not the actual games themselves. I think it was pretty clear for that one. Also, these are heavily edited so I am sure that there are clarifications being done on questions when needed. And really, you can tell from some answers when the person didn't seem to understand the question itself.
yes I thought this too, I'm pretty sure video games were more mentally demanding and required more time to actually get somewhere with them. And especially the fact that video games can be detrimental to your mental health which snowballs into physical health, etc.
Guess I’ll wait around to read the comments in four hours...lol.
Or 14 minutes
Gaming itself isn't misogynistic, but the *culture* is.
Alexis video games started as a thing for the whole family(targeted anyone regardless of age or sex) but after the video game crash of 1983, video games as an industry died out. Later Nintendo revived the industry by rebranding video games into toys and they put the NES in the boy section since Nintendo thought it would be the more profitable section. I like the comment about how it’s not the 90s anymore cause girl gamers were legit unheard of.
Culture is the most over used term today. And no the "culture" isnt. There are just little dweebs who will say anything to impress other dweebs and sometimes it's at the expense of a female.
Misogyny is good because women and man are not equal
@@lilpp4791 it's not good. Yes men and women aren't equal but can be on certain terms. Not physically though that's for sure

I don't really talk in game chat anymore with voice and haven't for years, but most communities have toxic players and many come at women pretty hard.
Two things we need to be honest about:
1. As a female, when males hear your voice they say “ Hey, what do you look like?” “ Do you have a boyfriend?” “ You’re voice sounds xyz.”
2. If you don’t Market yourself online/irl, play with strangers, attend cons, actually participate in competition, and more, you will NEVER BE FAMOUS and make REAL MONEY FOR GAMING.
There I said it 🚪
except youre a boobie streamer. but honestly tho, there way less women in the gaming scene so there are less women who are "good gamers" so its hard to tell if they have it difficult to become competitive
Eh not necessarily true. If you're good enough and climb high enough on the ladder you'll get scouted by pro teams. That is if you're insanely good though. If you don't put yourself out there you'll never make it as a streamer though
I hate when they ask for your Instagram. I don't even have Instagram lmao
To the 1st point, not all guys behave that way. The percentage varies from game to game but I've met many nice ones too.
To the 2nd, I mean... obviously. It's the same for males that if they don't actively try to earn a living out of it, they arent going to.
xyz?
I'm the most surprised that the gal said that about gaming when she plays CSGO, she damn well knows how much toxic waste is on that game

@@caylaaahammm I ALWAYS get toxic people but probably just get unlucky
The thing about CSGO is that when you're playing in lower ranks then yeah, it could get pretty toxic, but if you're in a more professional scene then it's chill. (It's also okay enough if you have a higher rank than most people)
She's playing in na which is much better than eastern Europe.

1k24 Dispatch I’m doubting that you actually play sports my g
1k24 Dispatch yeah no like if you’re a good basketball player you need to be able to make optimal split second decisions in the heat of the game and play good consistently and that’s really demanding not to mention the physical roll sports take so it takes both mental and physical strength
1k24 Dispatch are you serious? yeah you need to be strong, but why do you think we do drills like catching tennis balls while dribbling or just dribbling without looking at the ball, you need extremely well hand eye coordination and your mind is also trying to keep up with all the movement around you.
@@user61968 I do I played football and basketball and I can tell you at high school and college level the attention span has to be way better in gaming then these sports not harder and definitely not as demanding but it needs way more brains then sports becuase video games are going at way faster paced

This dude really said gaming is physically demanding as sports
Well, I understand that the question was if playing competitive games was demanding as a physical sport, not phisically demanding as a physical sport. Then Yeah, competitive gaming is as demanding as a physical sport. You need total dedication in what you're doing.
It’s not even close. Every training session or sport performance pushes the athletes to the physical limits whereas gamers sit at a computer for 10+ hours. I’m not saying it’s easy I’m just saying it’s not nearly as physically demanding as sports
