- Опубліковано 4 кві 2023
- Michael Dunlop steps into the driving seat of a Ford Escort Mark 1 for an exclusive in-depth interview with John Hogan. The 19-time TT winner and road racing legend talks of his love of rally cars, growing up around motorsport and what it takes to race.
“Your only limitation is confidence” explains Dunlop as he talks with John about about finding your limits on the course, whilst acknowledging that lap times only appear to be getting faster and faster. Looking ahead to TT 2022, Michael talks expectations, last minute changes and why he won’t be riding the PBM Ducati at this year’s races.

I met Michael at a track day in Cartagena. It was lunch break and he invited me into the garage to look over the bikes. He was really friendly and open👍👍
Met him also at a road race in Ireland 🇮🇪 He was having a sandwich n tea . Very cool guy , down to earth 👍
What a humble, intelligent man. When you see him just about to start at the TT, of course he's focused and appears somewhat distant, that's what he has to do. What a wonderful interview. He's in the car with John, just two guys and its as if, the comparative safety and isolation of the wee mk 1 allows him to really open up. My already huge respect for this man has now went through the roof.
This is the best MD interview I have heard….congrats!
MD is the crowd favourite, in my eyes, most exciting rider to watch and follow as he is so determined.
Was just about to say the same thing, best interview I've seen of MD, possibly the best done on the channel
MD = TOP G 👍👍👍
He's just a different breed this guy.
the few reservations i had about Michaels decisions have been totally answered, he is true to himself and his family. RESPECT.
I hope it’s okay for me as a Dane from Scandinavia, to say I have utmost respect of Road Racers, this is one of the best & honest interview I have seen.. I admire all of you who are during road races (top 1 to the last), after this interview, I have even more respect of MD.. the way he explains what was happening in the last 5+ years and why it went wrong, It takes a top guy to walk away knowing the press will be writing all sorts of stories afterwards, huge respect and all the best in 2023.
What an awesome insight into the man, the myth....THE Legend... Really enjoyed watching this and seeing how ordinary MD is, compared to others. He does his work, for the love and not the stardom. A great honest opinion. Fantastic!
Fantastic interview, he`s special and his own man and the Hicken`s obviously think the man is special. I just love this guy.👍
Megastar, no other word for Michael Dunlop.
Fascinating! What a humble gent. Huge respect!
I found this fascinating when I watched it in 2022. Still a great interview on the re-watch.
Sheer class ,humble to the core....
Well done on your achievements micheal ,an inspiration to everyone..
Amazing interview. Thank you Michael, thank you John. Good luck this year Michael, we'll be sat cheering you on and whipping our feet out of the way just in time!
I understand this interview better by knowing of his Family's unspoken charitable efforts over many years. Joey would load up the van with his bike and food/clothing because where they were racing many of the locals were destitute and he used his racing schedule to help where he was able without telling others. Quiet humility coupled with sheer determination. And Michael saw all that.
Proud to be a Ballymoney man. Well done MD great interview. Up the Toon!
Wonderful to see Michael at ease and talking freely. Super interview. Thank you.
I enjoyed that.....Really enjoyed that.....Great interview.....Lovely bloke.....All the best for the TT.
Extremely honest and revealing interview (and I now know not to give him any advice based on playing the TT game 😂)
Tip: the jump at Rhencullen is a good MD spot too
Oh my word!!!
Exact replica of my very first car!
Ford Escort , which my late father in law reconditioned with a racing gear box and steering wheel, having been a rally racer, which he presented to my late husband as our first car!
I learnt to drive in it and it was unforgettable!
I really want to meet Michael as he reminds me so much of between my late dad and late biker cousin....
And, what a legend road racer, yet seems such a down to earth man!
Michael, You Rock and I'm rooting for you all the way from South Africa
A really good interwiew, Michael is the real deal,Wish you all the best for 23 , Loose Smooth & Fast 👍👊✊🏍🥇🏆🏁🏁
Brilliant interview! Great to see and hear more of Michael Dunlop on this channel over the last few weeks. Most riders have their own channel or vlogs. They also do more interviews throughout the TT but that being said It would never make me change my opinion on Michael, such a genuine lad, doesn’t dress it up and says it how it is! Looking forward to seeing him at the NW200!
Facts 👆🏼
Amazing honest interview , This is the Dunlop dynasty ,
What a great Interview. Reckon Michael is destined to match or even surpass Joey's TT Legacy.
Lovly interview ❤
looking forward to isle of man 2023 . Hope and best wishes to the riders. i hope this 2023 dean harison will be the champion. Send from vietnam
Fairplay, Honest and Matter of fact, I wish more people were like that
Wish that was my garage- mk1 Escort, classic mini, 1275GT Clubman, mint Yamaha TDR250 and Honda 400/4, very nice collection of classics ❤
Brilliant interview, I met him at the TT this year, really friendly and down to earth.
Incredible interview👍🏼
Great thanks for posting your review and the fella is a legend,, coming from northern Ireland many great racers have come from,,but his no nonsense way is brilliant 😮☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ great interview
What a fantastic interview. Managed to get a fair bit out of him than I’ve ever heard before.
Wouldn’t begrudge any of these boys a single part of their success.
Best of luck to Michael Dunlop in 2023.
Yes totally agree great interview love the honesty and in-depth conversation be good to talk about long time sponsor Carl Cox .
There is a video on here with himself n Carl chatting about it 👍
all these interviews and they are all missing the question i need to know ( do you do much pleasure riding ? and what are you like on a pleasure ride? can you hold back and enjoy the riding or do you have the itch to send it
What a brilliant interview, could listen to him all night ,says it how it is ,proud to say I live now in that wee town Ballymoney
Have to admire his attitude towards doing things, it's 50/50 him an team. If not walk. His life on the line. Many more wins coming the Dunlop way.
Reading between the lines, what I heard was that it is 100/100 him and team. If you're not willing to put in 100% then don't come, b.c he gives 100% (and more).
Just WOW! What an interview with an amazing man!
A fine and fascinating interview.
Nice one JH.
Great interview, well done both men.
Pure natural talent
Fair play Bull, take no nonsense from anyone. Have a good year MD
Great interview, enjoyed that 👍🏼
What a fantastic video
Brilliant interview I've been lucky to have met Michael and William got say the most honest and genuine lads one could meet , unfortunately it can be a cruel sport like I've heard Legends live on
Bloody great interview.
Class as always from the big man. Good luck this year MD keep her lit 👌
Absolute road racing legend, my favorite rider, & the only one capable of breaking his uncle’s record
An amazing lad ' no BS just fast n honest isn't bothered by fame just a hardass racer i have had the pleasure of meeting many times ! always throw some cash on a MD win 10/10 video nice work great interview 🙌🏼
side note: moved here for the love of the TT & loving the place 🇮🇲🏍🇮🇲
lucky you moving there. what a dream move
Great interview of a great bloke
CLASS Lad!!💪🛵🛵🛵🛵
Great video👍👍
What a absolute legend
next year they'll go shopping for body warmers and a nice chat
😂 hadnt noticed they were both rocking a bodywarmer
"its not limits its confidence, its where your confidence will take you, to where your limit is gonna go". If there's a takeaway here, its that.
He's wrong! You have to be a special person to win a TT & deserves to be in the company of Royalty. The TT wouldn't be the same without a Dunlop racing.
This is fuckin raw. 100% respect Michael.
Top man great watch
MD is an fantastic rider and stay safe
Best rider of all and you can try prove me wrong...the last of the pure breed road racers,no bsb no circuit racing and can jump on any bike and go fast at any road race..pure talent...all the other top riders do only the big 3 or 4 roads but Micky D will show up at em all.
Some boy, respect
Lol " yr talking shite " 😅🤣 No Back Doors With Michael 😅😂👍
What a guy👏
Start talking the family name, music changes in the background, pushing the requirement to meet the expectations.
MD just pushes it out the door and notes his 19 Tt’s
Keep the sun on your face, and the wind on your back 🤙🏻
Great interview but was this not filmed before tt 2022? Still back MD to win a couple of tt's in 23!
Correct 👆🏼
Yep your were!
Top job top bloke, titanium nuts 😅
🙌🤘🙌 Giddy up !!
Quality an truth
His the man
Go hard
👍
I heard Mike just got his motorcycle license, can I ask why,can anyone tell me the name. Of the cop to pull up on him? I've seen many try
top lad
🤜🏻🤛🏻
More cc should also mean more torque as well as reliability, so should get out of the corners better too
Im sure this came out last year ….
It is pretty insulting Ducati hung MD out to dry. No testing, no expert that was agreed to.
Not good business
Disgraceful
Sounds pretty Ducati to me! If you're not Italian.. youre not getting proper factory support.
Is 129 mph the top speed they reach?
Average speed
Flat out they breach 200mph
Stay alive, boy, you're the last of the family!
Michael Dunlop is a no nonsense bloke... if he says he's gonna do something he will....but if you say your gonna do something and don't then your gone....I'm the same I'll do owt for anyone....but let me down and that's it finished!!
Pure bred road racer, dont make em like this anymore, unfortunately
what ruins all these videos is the background music , why oh why, there's no need for it, either low fi crap or epic lord of the rings music. sort it out
Legend ❤
Brilliant.
