In Pakistan my grandmother used to make what is called Gulkand from the rose petals of her garden. The rose petals would be mixed with just sugar and tightly packed in glass jars and put on her roof in full sun. Occasionally she would turn the jars and open them to mix the concoction. It would gradually compact and recede further down in the jars. After some weeks it would turn into a dark, sticky, rose smelling toffee like substance that she would take out with a tiny spoon and feed to us when we came for visits. It was something we would only get at my grandparents house. I guess it is like an uncooked jam, but denser.
My brother-in-law, sister-in-law,husband and I visited Istanbul several years ago and I fell in love with it. Wished I had more time. Your people are so wonderful and friendly and the architecture of the houses and mosques are stunning. I hope to visit again. Hoping for peace for your country.

Here is the my mother recepie for home made. put in glass jar , 1/2 table spoon citcic acid with rose flower and water. Keep it at sunny part of your house for 7 - 10 days. (Don't forget shake it every day). When the water color will be change, it means done. Mix that water with sugar. You can drink like lemonade. Enjoy it

It’s great how you introduce the story behind rose water. In Iran, we call rose water “🌹Golab” which is our famous product belong Kashan province. You have to try our rose water is unique and remarkable. If I come to Istanbul I love to bring our Golab as a souvenir for dear Refika. 💗
Morocco is famous for its rosewater too. The southern area around El Kelaa de M’Gouna in the High Atlas Mountains is known as the Valley of Roses where they specialise in producing rosewater. They have a 3-day Festival of Roses in May.

This is wonderful Refika! I have just been in my garden here in the UK (and yes, the sun is shining!!) and I have a wonderful rose in the garden which is very heavily scented. Refika, might I suggest reversing the hoses on the pot so that the coldest water is going in the bottom. That is how a heat exchangers work best. I'm not sure of the terminology but it has to do with cross flow and the rose water dripping out should be the same temperature as the water cooling it. I think it is done like that to make sure that the tubes are always submerged while having the option to decrease the water flow. Mounting the water supply at the top requires you to maintain a minimum water flow to keep the tubes submerged but if its from the bottom you can lessen the water flow.

Though you show in the information on how to get a still in the UK, you need all sorts of rectifiers licences & inspections in case you're also making alcohol or fuel here in the UK. Also to make sure you're doing it in a safe manner as fires & explosions aren't unheard of.

I distilled for a few years and tested a lot. The instructions in all German books say that you should not distill rose petals in the flask, but directly in the water. If I distil again next year, I will try it in a flask as well. I use rose water several times a day and spray it straight onto my face from the fridge. In summer there is a wonderful freshness. Rose water is also good for the eyes, so I spray the eyelids too. I liked to make footbaths from the remains of rose petals, rosemary, sage blossoms or wild herbs. Or I kept half of the distilled herbs in a bowl in the fridge or in the bathroom so that the scent was distributed there. I always keep my distillates in spray bottles in the fridge. No scent can escape and no bacteria can get in. And if I want to perfume a rice pudding just before serving, for example, I spray it on briefly. This also works great with the rim of coffee cups if you have distilled cinnamon or cardamom, for example. The kitchen with distillates is a magical world! There is not enough space here to give you my ideas and recipes, but you are so incredibly creative, you will know a lot yourself. Thank you for taking us with you into the world of distillates. Refika, you are absolutely correct about frequency. It's not an easy concept for many people to understand but basically the higher the frequency, the better you feel. Eating fresh produce and being around plants and flowers is wonderful. As much as I love roses and orange blossom even more, I can't say I love it in food. I bought a bottle in the shuk and my cake turned out smelling like room spray.😂
It's not a concept that can be understood because it doesn't have a basis in reality. It's not something that can be measured like Refika claims in the video, because it doesn't exist. But I suppose there is little harm done either way, as long as it helps people stay away from processed foods.
