I’m back with another vintage film from the Warner archives, (1964) musical romance “my fair lady”
on the street where you live performed by Jeremy Brett, he has a beautiful voice i watched a few clips of Sherlock Holmes tv series but unfortunately he didn’t get the sing the song on screen. They dubbed his voice, bill Shirley was the singing voice.
directed by George Cukor, who directed
several iconic films 1933, little women, 1954 a star is born, and also one of most inconic films is cinimatic history 1938 gone with the wind, he was the original director but apparently he was fired, but his original scenes are still in film. I believe him and Selznick had differences
It’s starting Audrey Hepburn, I love her fashion, Rex Harrison, Gladys Cooper, Henry Daniell, Bill Shirley, Stanley Holloway and many more
In this beloved musical, pompous phonetics professor Henry Higgins (Rex Harrison) is so sure of his abilities that he takes it upon himself to transform a Cockney working-class girl into someone who can pass for a cultured member of high society. His subject turns out to be the lovely Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn), who agrees to speech lessons to improve her job prospects. Higgins and Eliza clash, then form an unlikely bond -- one that is threatened by an aristocratic suitor (Jeremy Brett).

This song is so beautiful, it never fails to bring tears to my eyes. I don’t like the jazzed up version I’ve seen others perform, only this one :)

I saw Jeremy Brett on stage in the West End playing Sherlock Holmes. I think the conceit was that Moriarty was a creation of Holmes.

If I could meet anyone from that time it'd be Louis Armstrong or the absolute Queen Ella Fitzgerald. Wouldn't want a serenade. Just a conversation. They were the absolute best.

Please react to "All I want" from My Fair Lady.
And my one artist that I wish I could bring back would be Judy Garland, or Gene Kelly. I have a joke I tell people. 'When someone sneezes, you say god bless you. But if God were to sneeze, you'd say Gene Bless you.' 😂
