    Year 4 of my discovery no issues love the boat so easy to get in and out from the front. Gets up on plane with my 7 hp evinrude. Easy in and out of the bag. So well made I would for sure buy again!

    I like the look of the solid transom over the open one of the takakat. It also looks much better made not that I've seen either other than in videos but the takakat fittings looked terribly flimsy. Maybe I'm wrong. Would have liked your views on it. Definitely looking to get an sib. Perhaps though I'll end up going traditional. Subscribed. 😭Holy crap. Just looked at the price!

      Thanks for subscribing. I can't compare either Takacat or TRUEKIT as its my first SIB but it does seem very well built. I'd been researching for quite a while and always kept coming back to TRUEKIT, Yeah it isn't the cheapest but you're only here once :). Hopefully it will serve me well for years to come. I'll get some more videos up when I get out again.

    How many air chambers, and what do you say about this boat now? Im surprised, that its transom a lot weaker than saturn brand, which is much cheaper korean brand, but quality up to par. Also open bow is bad for ocean.

      5 chambers, I love the boat it does everything I want. Weaker transom I’m not sure what you mean?
      Open bow is fine at sea, it’s a very dry ride as well 👍

      Hi thanks, I got the seat bags from eBay. I can’t find the original listing but this one looks the same www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Inflatable-Dinghy-Tender-Rowing-Boat-Padded-Under-Seat-Storage-Bag-NU6-/133764370452?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
      They are ok for light loads but are a bit flimsy for any thing heavy.

    Thanks for the channel… Great stuff! I’ve watched this video a few times now as have been considering the same 330 True Kit and a 9.8 for the same reasons that you first had on getting it… Lightweight boat and lightweight engine versus my 50kg 20HP 4 stroke Mercury. I wanted to ask 1. Would you still buy the same boat today? Are you happy with it? 2. Have you ever found the 9.8HP underpowered?
    Did you find messing about with the engine modifications put you off? Many thanks

    • @TheHopefulAngler
      @TheHopefulAngler  Рік тому +1

      Hi and thankyou 👍🏻
      I really like the boat and the quality seems spot on however if I’d known I’d be hit with import duty it probably would’ve made more sense to go with a Honwave which was my other original choice.
      I can’t compare any other hp engine but the Suzuki 9.9 seems powerful enough for me, it’s not often the sea is calm enough to go full speed anyhow, that said I still haven’t had a passenger on with me. It’s finding the fine line between weight and power, I’d like to try a 15hp but I think the extra weight would be to much for me
      I didn’t want to do any messing about with the engine position but after a few trips out it became apparent that something had to be done, the original plywood transom before the newer aluminium one was 2inches higher which obviously has made a difference to how outboards perform with the catamaran hull.
      I’m not sure if you watch youtube.com/@rokkitkit but he was how I came across the boat and he’s had similar issues since having the newer style transom.
      Overall I’m happy with the boat but even though it’s light for it’s class by the time you add fuel and fishing gear it is quite heavy and it’s a non starter pulling through soft sand fully laden, I don’t want to have to do several trips down the beach so generally I’ll use a concrete slipway which is much easier.
      Please feel free to ask anything else and I’ll do my best to answer, it’s a big decision to make 👍🏻

      @@TheHopefulAngler Meant to say - I’m lucky enough to live very close to the sea and could launch v quickly if I could carry my boat and engine separately across quite a lot of shingle… a 36kg engine vs a 50 and a 36kg boat would make a lot of difference

    Nice boat. Whereabouts on Ullswater did you launch from ? I wonder if you'd consider doing a video of building up your boat and launching it on the water.

      I launched from park foot campsite it was £5 including parking for the day.
      I will hopefully get around to doing a setting up video although I have recently had a trailer made up for shorter trips which adds to the versatility of the package, I’ve added the video link below.

    HI mate, sweet setup :0). I am very curious since a 3,3 discovery is in the mail for me. Cant decide what engine to get. It will be a 2 or 4 stroke 6 or 9.9. Portability and transport is a factor, it needs to be easy enough to do. That makes me lean towards 6 hp but yours surely sails nice. Can you tell me a bit about your experience, are you ok lugging that engine around or would you wish it was easier ? Kind regards Jakob

    • @TheHopefulAngler
      @TheHopefulAngler  Рік тому

      Hi Jakob and thanks 🙏. I got the discovery as after an injury I have nerve damage that has left my right arm very weak so I was unable to lift my kayak onto the roofbars on the car, so portability was a factor for me also.
      I suppose much depends on where you will use your boat, most of my use is in the sea and although I can’t compare as this is the first inflatable and engine I’ve had, I would imagine a 6hp would struggle pushing against some of the tidal flows that I’m used to.
      As for weight my engine is about as heavy as I would like to go and I wouldn’t like to carry it any distance.
      It would be nice to feel the weight difference between a 2 and 4 stroke.
      My engine is very quiet compared to a 2 stroke so that might be a consideration for you again depending on use and how much that would bother you.
      Like a few discovery owners I find that there can be quite a bit of ventilation, it isn’t as bad since I added the hydrofoil but at some point I’ll try a cupped prop to see if that will cure it.
      I’m going to try and get a walk around and update video done as soon as I have time as a couple of people have asked for one.
      Let me know how you get on 👍🏻
      Kind Regards Wayne.

    Nice vid, would you say there's enough room for 2 to comfortably fish? I assume you bought it as a package deal or did you get the engine elsewhere? I'm thinking about investing but it's a minefield what to go for!! Cheers!!

    • @TheHopefulAngler
      @TheHopefulAngler  3 роки тому +1

      I would say two should be OK, I plan on taking a friend out. I bought the boat direct from New Zealand truekit.nz/ and the Engine from www.palynch.co.uk/ . Yes it's a minefield I'd been researching over the last couple of years but I always liked the look of the TRUEKIT boats and kept coming back to them and eventually took the plunge. First impressions are great, I'm really looking forward to getting out to sea for some fishing.

    Hi. Wondering if you can tell me that's a short shaft outboard. I just got a Discovery 330 and a short shaft Tohatsu outboard and according to the manual, the anti vent plate is sitting a little high on this boat.

      Hi, it’s difficult to say as I’ve had no other SIB’s to compare it to. I wanted a catamaran hull and I didn’t want an open transom like the Takacat. So far I’m happy and looking forward to many trips out 👍🏻

      Yes thats true, those wheels look a little bit small for the gravel beaches i would encounter in Cumbria, are there options of taller wheels with the same fittings?

    • @TheHopefulAngler
      @TheHopefulAngler  2 роки тому +1

      I’m not sure unless you get a different type of wheels like balloon wheels
      www.rosscastors.co.uk/pneumatic-balloon-wheels-240mm-diameter-wz1-24ub.html
      I launched on a soft sand beach last year and the wheels weren’t very good, however my friends who had larger launching trolley sized wheels still struggled. I find it easier from a slipway as I’m nearly always by myself.

      Well i am looking at getting one like yours in the near future, is the outboard adequate or would you go bigger if the body would lift a bigger one? Really enjoy the videos by the way 👍

      @@thegemhiveantiquejewellery796 Thanks that’s nice of you to say I hope I’ll get more made this year. I find the engine fine for me any bigger and I would struggle. I did get the SIB as I ended up with nerve damage from an injury which makes lifting things any height difficult.
      I think I mentioned in the earlier comments on this video that I incurred an import charge from FedEx of about £400.
