Just came back from Manado. We were there on the 15th Nov 2024 for five days. Beautiful churches and not so much honking although traffic was hectic. High tolerant in driving. The vibes was different there compared to other Indonesians city. Beautiful city Beautiful people ❤️
One of the most "westernized" cities in Indonesia. They have a very close relations with the Dutch. Back in the days there were a movement called "Twaalfde Provincie". A movement to make Minahasa become the 12th province of the Netherlands.
,Manado is one of the most magical christian island in Indonesia. Enjoy your visit to amazing places in Manado. Thank you for showing and sharing Manado out there. God bless Mama Lulu and your trip ❣️🙏❣️
jadi kebanggaan tersendiri ada turis2 mau datang tana kita tana sulawesi utara semoga semakin banyak turis2 akan datang di manado terimakasi mister suda datang di manado jangan lupa datang ke kota bitung 😊
Hartelijk bedankt... I was born in Jakarta but I am Manadonese...!!! Been to Groningen in Eemshaven studying F&B working for Royal Carribbean...!!! Maar Hollandsch spreken kan niet... Je parle Français... been a French speaking tour guide in Bali for Asia Voyages...!!! 😂🎉❤️🇮🇩🥰
when i saw this video, i got excited, why? this is my hometown, this is my home. thanks bro, for exploring the city of Manado, a city nicknamed: "The Jerusalem of Indonesia, with 1001 churches". And i also live in Amurang - South Minahasa, my second home from Manado. Welcome to Manado, Jesus Christ bless you bro...🙏🏻🙏🏻
I was born in Borneo, and understood the Indonesian language. But been away from home for almost four decades, i have lost the language. Currently i am living in the United States. Perhaps with your vlog, it will convince me to visit these wonderful unexplored island. Thanks for Sharing Chai. It was amazing to glimpse these places with your help. Terima Kasih Banyak.
@@Chai_Travel i doubt i ever returned to my root. Have many bad memories that traumatized me for life. I have no desired to open up a can of worms again.
I went to high school in Manado for 1 year, then moved with my parents to Makassar in 1991, since then I have never been to Manado again. Of course, there have been many changes in the city since I lived there 30 years ago, in this video I can see Manado and North Sulawesi becoming more beautiful and pretty. Thank you Chai and mama Lulu 😊👍🏻
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and I’m glad we’re able to show you a bit what it looks like nowadays :) it’s a lovely clean city at the moment 🤩 cheers!
How exciting this is Chai. Looks like a lovely place, plenty of good food and nice people. The longer videos the way to go for sure. Indonesia a great country to promote to the world for sure. Do the locals speak English as a secondary language or is it a struggle to interact. I would imagine the more remote areas not so easy and reckon that is where Google translate comes in handy. Lovely to see you and mum having such a great time travelling together. Fun times ahead. Cheers Chai 🤩
It is a great country with friendly people and most speak a bit of English 🥰 in the remote areas it’s more challenging for sure. We’re lucky we were able to find a guide who was able to translate and obviously Google translate was always a backup 😝 a long one is coming up and is ready hopefully by the end of next week. Cheers Steven
North Sulawesi is nice. The region is the birth place of the late Indonesia dutch singer Anneke Gronloh. I think your mom must know her popularity in Holland
@4:10 i grew up there at the boulevard. In my great grandparents time the boulevard road were built. before it was a beach. In my mom's time theres still a sandy beach, kids were surfing a bit there. But in my time they reclaimed the beach built the commercial complex promissing parks and beach for us kids....but no. no beach or promised park so i cant swim cuz its too deep now to swim😞😩
Hai Chai, It is called a boulevard because before the building was built it was an ocean. So they filled the ocean with rocks and soil and then built a shopping area there. The sidewalk used to be the border between the ocean and the highway.
Indonesia is a large country, but in the past the Dutch preferred the native Manadonese tribe, namely the Minahasa tribe, as partners for work, trade, education and even the military. just information, the Minahasa tribe, Manado, was once made the 12th province by the Dutch because the Minahasa tribe was famous for being brave & likes to fight. I hope you have a nice day & if you can, eat traditional Manadonese food, not street food☺
Sulawesi is really underrated bro, thank you for showing us the beauty of Sulawesi, every time I watch most travelers only go to Java, Bali or Lombok, but Indonesia also has Sulawesi ❤
Manado is a place where one of the lost Tribe of Jews living in place you can find pork dishes everywere Palu (Center of Sulawesi) Toraja (South of sulawesi) maluku Nusa Tenggara Timur Papua Bali Pontianak (west of kalimantan) Tarakan (East of Kalimantan) Batam (south of sumatra) Medan (north of Sumatra) Nias (North of Sumatra) All specific place (most of is chinese restaurant or something restaurant that using word "MASAKAN KHAS) in Indonesia
Manado is a very tolerant city, and a 5-dimensional area, where the sea and mountains surround it. The downside is that the tourism department is not serious enough to improve and expose the richness of Manado's natural beauty.
I have travelled with my mother to Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. She's my best friend 😊 our next trip together will most definitely be Vietnam and Cambodia. But honestly, the most beautiful place in Indonesia is Papua! Raja Ampat is amongst the most stunning places to visit. If you have time, go there with your mom. She is going to love it 🤩
Thank you for visiting and exploring Menado, Iam Indonesian, unfortunatelly I have never gone there and by watching your yutube make me little bite know what Menado looks like. Very well come to Indonesia and enjoy fascinating scenery of Indonesia.
Why is the road called Boulevard? Because in the past around the 90s, before the reclamation of the beach next to the highway was the sea, only limited by a wall. So actually the shops and malls and hotels are located in a location that used to be the sea.
Hai Chai, thank you for visiting Manado. What a great and awesome content.. Fyi, The Boulevard road why is’s called Boulevard because the road suppose to be exactly next right beside to coast before city development in early 2000’s. but everything changed since beach reclamation are happening
The famous traditional music (that you heard) from Manado is Kolintang (made from wood) not Angklung (which made from bamboo). Angklung is from West Java.
You right for choose visiting celebes-sulawesi island over all sulawesi not just beautiful landscape nature n unique island bcouse all animal-primate-insect-etc totally diffeerence between west part indonsia-typical mainland asia n eastrent part indonsia-typical austronesia (wallace line) salam for you n your mom from jkrta enjoy nature enjoy vacation
Besides Manado, you can also see the Jesus statue in TORAJA. You have to go to the South Sulawesi region in the north, and enter the Toraja district. Toraja consists of 2 parts, namely Tana Toraja and North Toraja. There are many unique cultural traditions that you can see there, and traditional ways of serving food. You can also explore the Toraja region, but I suggest going with a guide, because Toraja people use the local language. You will have difficulty asking questions using English.
halo, Chai. thank you for visiting my hometown. I studied in Jogja and then worked in Jakarta since 2005 before deciding to move back home last year. that said, I'm still pretty much a tourist in the city 😅 so watching your video is making me somewhat emotional. a little fun fact, the boulevard was actually located next to the beach before the buildings were developed. the mall areas were part of the first reclamation project in the province, a couple of years after the economic crisis. my late father was part of the development team from the provincial government and I was around 11 yo when the construction started. I wish your journey with your Mom especially in Manado will be pleasantly unforgettable. best regards 💙
go to Tomohon, Tondano, Minahasa Regency. there you will find everything good about the North Sulawesi. Manado just a place where you visit there only to go shopping.

The music is not angklung (bamboo music) but Kolintang (wooden music) tradisional music of Manado, sounds similar to angklung.
Thanks for the corrections 🤗
