- Jayne gives us a house tour of her home. She recently moved to Ghana from the UK last year with her family and has rented this apartment inside Villagio Vista, Ghana's tallest buildings and one of the most exclusive developments built by Trasacco. Villagio has a bar, restaraunts, cafe, playpark and much more - it really has everything! She gives us a full inside tour of her apartment. Jayne started a company in Ghana which sells furniture made in Ghana by local artisans called 'Chika & Co'. She shows us some of that Ghanaian made furniture in her house. She also does sustainable interior decorating for others!

As expensive as Villagio is, I was expecting more. I love her decor! I also love that she sources her items sustainably in Ghana and is creating employment opportunities locally ❤️❤️
I didn’t hear how much the rent was or do you have to buy an apartment. I know it’s the same model of paying 6-12 months at a time or more. That’s crazy!

How much more though? I’m genuinely curious. I’m a Ghanaian living in Ghana 🇬🇭 for 33 years and Villagio is high end but not as high end as it used to be as newer developments are around and still coming up in the city. Its about 10 plus years for Villagio though … so I think they still have the prestige and the buzz from years ago attached to them.

That's why the Chinese are buying up all the land, they ain't stupid, they know Africa is the last untapped resource on the planet. I just hope Africa doesn't sell out to the Chinese.
I mean, Africa had no choice when it was colonized by the Europeans, but now it has a choice with the Chinese trying to take over. I'm over here in America hoping Africa makes the right decisions for future generations, because a lot of Black people in the Americas wanna come home.

Yep. My first time seeing a stainless steel kitchen. I may have opted for it at the time of building my house.
@@denniscasely-hayford3245 Stainless steel can come off as very sterile and cold, but very warm and inviting if you do it right. I have to do my stainless steel kitchen with some cherry wood cabinets with glass doors, you know, to soothe it up nice and warm....

This was a nice interview full of insights. It really hit home when Jayne said, that there is so much opportunity in Ghana right now, if you are a skilled person to come and make a better life for yourself. I look forward to being there in 2022.

This is such a beautiful home with so much thought and intentionality behind the furnishing of it
The apartment has a simple design yet the furnishing and decorative pieces gives it a luxurious feel. I can totally relate to having an out kitchen when most of the heavy meals are prepped. We've had to introduce this concept in a few of our recent building projects.
Vanessa I'm loving this interview. And the furnishings be too good. So natural.
Grateful to all these ladies who have gone back to Ghana and creating employment for the locals. Kudos to all all these ladies!!!! Some of us are a little skeptical to embark on such projects. Because we have been screwed a few times.

My thing is, I like African style, but not Kinte Cloth OVERKILL, just a subtle style and flava' that says Africa. If this European woman Jayne were wearing some hard core Kinte Cloth African outfit and African Headrap, she would look ridiculous, but she knocked us all out with this outfit, she's right where she should be, saying Hey, I'm in Africa, but not trying to hard to say it....

Rooms have to be spacious because of heat.. Its okay if you have AC but most dont and so air circulating around is good if you are buying and renting for comfort

@Ben Yosep the rent is about $3500 for 2 bedrooms and $4000 for 3. Which for me is on the higher end. Also I found it overpriced. Because for this price I can rent a house in France for way less. We have 3 bedrooms apartment that also on the high end but not luxury right next to Paris and I wouldn't get more than $2300/month. So yeah it's overpriced. I think you're paying that much because of WHO live in the building. They don't want it accessible. That's why they put a price tag higher than the market.
