I once wanted to buy did go in a store but came out w nothing I think mostly personally for me it’s just for the experience is it worth it no cuz your buying the name what I do is work for a candy company I run my own line😊have a great day
My husband and I make make 6 figures. My daughter is 20 yrs old with a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. No student loan. I never own any luxury brand. Instead, we traveled and volunteered at the homeless shelter. I bought my $10 cross body bag from Walmart, and I was happy.
Back when I had no money, I wanted designer everything. Now that I have money, I’m cheap and couldn’t imagine dropping thousands on something just because of the label. The only exception to this would be special clothing items that I keep for years because of the quality.
isn't that a strange parallel the more wealth you accumulate the stingier you become I ain't going to drop even a thousand bucks on a designer item and I'm going to go through what I have before even thinking of getting a new item, people don't understand that as soon as you get that item out of their packaging it immediately depreciates in value and unlike manufacturing machineries they don't make money for you! they only serve a function of purpose thats it you can whine all you want about how it makes you feel and people in general just respect you more blah blah blah at the end of the day its just a bag, and they're many more authentic Italian leather bags that go for 300-500$ without the logo splashing in everyones faces if you want quality I'd rather give my 300$ for one of those brands rather than Chanel or Gucci that way I'll get my moneys worth plus I get to increase my wealth by saving from spending on those useless logos thats just my take.
The people I know who are VERY successful (bio/high tech medical devices, well known physicians) don’t buy designer crap. They buy nice quality - but are more likely to wear a 10 year old Seiko & drive an older Volvo. These are people worth tens of millions. I see people who are actually NOT rich buying the designer stuff, with blaring logos, thinking they are getting clout doing so. NOT🤦🏽♂
I feel like many are the same. However, there is a category of wealthy where buying things really doesnt make a difference in the way you see money. I dk if I make sense, but yeah...I hope to get to that level one day
@@iamkyros2233 Exactly. There's also a level of just being comfortable, saving some and being able to spend some. The comments are from poor people with a "what if" mind set. They are so focused on price tags and IF they had money what they WOULD do. That's why they'll never be anywhere in life.
I can’t stress enough how important it is to be responsible with your money from a young age. Financial freedom is more valuable than any brand name on your clothing.
I'm 38 still in debt from being a teen . Mind u I was out on my own at at your age and not money smart like most kids/teens. Getting cell phones , racking up bills , ect..... It has really affected me this here above is wise advice
This is interesting. My son is in high tech & his wife is an attorney. They make over $650,000 per year combined, but they are the most down to earth people you’d ever meet. Yes, his wife enjoys designer bags, but they are never “in your face” with their money. My 8 year old grandson is on the autism spectrum & they have set up a trust fund for him. They have their priorities straight & I couldn’t be prouder😊
@@franinthesky I am shocked at how much high tech pays, too. Of course, he was in school for many years to get a degree in what he does (was data mining, now something else that I don’t understand, lol). $2,500 is a good salary, too. All 3 of my boys make 5 x more than my highest salary ever. As a mom, this is what it is all about, as long as they are good humans & happy, which all 3 are:)
@@LindaKayHolevas the primary reason most things computer-related pay so much nowadays is because the entire field is so oversaturated so they have an excuse to keep the market competitive and only look for the best candidates by keeping salaries ridiculously high
"yes, his wife enjoys designer bags" lmfaooo all credibility lost Malaria charities save 1 life per $5,000 donated. So if you spend $5k more on fashion items than you need to, you're willingly letting a child die. It really is that simple. Rich people are the absolute worst.
Nothing wrong with buying luxury stuffs. After working hard, reward yourself with something that makes you happy. Whatever floats your boat as long as you are aware of your finances, really
Exactly! I reward myself with luxuries. It's what I work for as well as bills and necessities. Some people assume people may do it to show off. If that was the case for me, I'd be taking selfies with every handbag I have, which I don't.
What's wrong with that is that one could argue that it is immoral to spend money like this when there are so many people suffering. So many people who are homeless and hungry and there are working poor everywhere. Our system is not fair and greed and corruption is rampant. If I made a ton of money, I would spend some of my surplus helping others, rather than waste it on a status symbol. Btw, when I see someone wearing these 'status symbols', I don't look upon the person and think better of them. At best I think they are getting tricked by business or are unenlightened. I think it reflects badly on the person, b/c it sends the message that rather than help others you choose to be wasteful, selfish and shallow. And lest you think I am alone in my thinking, I believe most religions preach that it is immoral to be envious, gluttonous, and selfish. It is immoral not treat others the way you'd want to be treated. I am not a Christian, but believe Jesus was a role model. He healed the sick, helped the poor, helped immigrants and strangers. It is fine to treat yourself in an affordable way. Like have an ice cream, or buy some comfy slippers. However, our culture is repulsive in how it encourages conspicuous consumption. Corporations need you to believe you should want ultra expensive stuff b/c it's better. It's not. It's a scam they use to make themselves richer, and you, poorer. And none of this helps the struggling masses. If you need a Louis Vuitton anything to feel better inside, then this is also a problem that won't be fixed by buying anything. Now you have a hole in your pocket as well as your soul. This was a lengthy response, but I don't regret a word. Maybe it will make some people consider things differently.
That female pilot was a badass. My dad’s a pilot. They’re a special breed. My husband bought me a Louis Vuitton bag for my birthday last year; it was so popular and rare he had to order it from Florida and have it shipped to Los Angeles. Every woman who sees it goes nuts over it, and it truly is a fabulous bag. That said initially i was embarrassed to use it because I thought it was a bit silly to have a designer bag so pricey. I’m not a handbag girl. I prefer to spend my luxury money on thoroughbred horses. I have two, and they cost way more than handbags. 😂
I would be repulsed by your bag b/c to me it is says your status is being selfish and shallow. I wouldn't say it to anyone's face b/c that is unkind, but that is what I, another woman, thinks. And I bet I'm not alone. Sounds like you hang with a shallow group if they are oohing and ahhing over a bag that rips you off and is nothing special. It's just an ugly bag with a very obvious logo that tries way too hard. We can agree to disagree, but I wanted to let you know that there are lots of people who feel the way I do.
I have nothing to hide....its a reality. Im a banker and the reality is that....everybody is broke...to some degree . From business owners to the regular 9-5er.....paycheck to paycheck is a common thing out here and we need to enjoy our life the best we can...whether its a bag, a car, a house, manicure, or a daily coffee.
I loved what the Physicisn said. Stop going to Medical school Nurses and Doctors if you don’t have a passion for people! Going for the money and treating people like crap!
@Survivor55555 sad but it’s more like a trend now. I live in the south and I promise, all you see are Nurses driving the same car and bragging about the money they’re making for the materials & trips they can buy and go on. Never about the love for their job
Louis Vutton is not for the rich people, it's for the people who have money, but are not rich and want to feel rich. That's why the brand logo is all over the product.
My husband and i make around $350k a year, we never bought a designer anything. We own 3 houses 2 of which we rent. I get many complements on what i wear, it all comes down on good manner, posture, and class. I never needed to buy anything expensive to feel accomplished. I know my priorities, but i also understand others that like luxury stuff.
Interesting to understand how people see the world from a growing perspective and a wealthy well off perspective! I hope I make it as a well off person and I hope I keep my humble roots ❤
You don’t have to be rich to buy LV. But their quality isn’t what it used to be. So sometimes it’s not always worth it to me. You can find other luxury or mid-range brands that are just as nice in design and quality. But you should never go into debt trying to buy luxury goods.
I agree there's other designer brands that have better quality and are more affordable I personally like mcm handbags the quality is great and again the prices aren't going to place u into debt

From a very young age I have been told that the most important is to have money first than thinks. The money includes cash and assets. I hope that I am of assistance to you.
I am a teacher and I own only one LV bag. I bought it after divorce, saving the money for it on my own because I wanted the experience I never had of going to the store and purchasing. You can't speak on what you don't know, so I tried it. I will say, it is my go to bag. I travel with it as a carry on, overnight bag and purse. It is reliable and durable, a beautiful neutral color and not the typical print, and so easy to clean. The hardware lasts and the structure of the bag lasts. I have gone through thousands in cheap bags. Now, I stay in my lane, lol, so I will not purchase again since I budget well. I'm glad I did, but it will be once in a lifetime for me. I am positive my bag will last just that long.🍎❤️🥰
I have one Louis Vuitton tote my husband bought for me in Rome on a business trip we took together. We bought it as 1. a souvenir of our trip (bought no other souvenirs) and 2. It was our 25th wedding anniversary. The bag cost approx $5,000US but would have cost more to buy in the US. It was worth it because that was 8 years ago and I’ve used it daily! I have been extremely impressed with the quality and durability. Also it reminds me of the fun memories of our trip. My husband bought a matching wallet and it too looks great after 8 years.
Buying LV is worth it for me. I’ve had my monogram wallet for 5 years and it still looks great after daily use. I got their perfume as well, and it smells amazing. Lasts all day. It’s worth it if it makes you happy.
My mother has a wallet of like 5$, for already 8 years or so.... and it still looks fabulous, after daily use, for real.... your LV wallet isn't anything special quality wise... it's the logo... those wallets are mass produced...
I don’t know why people think that you have to be rich to buy LV. My normal bags can’t carry me as long as my LV or my other luxury items. Worth every penny, especially on the preloved market.
I bought a genuine leather crossbody bag with no name for an overseas trip, the bag popped off at the airport on me. My Gucci and LV would never: you don’t have to be rich to be able to afford Luxury. The preloved market is mad affordable. No need to get in debt either.
I think it's ok to treat yourselves with designer stuff once in a while, but spend reasonably. It's not a necessity, but more like a treat after you have a stable income, no debt, etc.
Agreed! to me it's ok to treat yourself once in awhile since we actually deserve it after working so hard. so long it makes you happy and not heavily in debt to it, then cool.
@@milayaz1144 Pardon, but why else would you buy a designer bag if not "just for trends and what not"? You can buy a just as useful, if not better, quality bag for under $100, easy. I also fail to see how this is a "treat". In truth, it's just a bag, wallet or whatever. No better than other wallets, bags etcetera. To me a treat is when I get a super functional handbag at Goodwill that is new with tags that say it was $80 originally. I also get nice things from Ebay. I don't really think it's a treat if it is designed to impress someone else more than yourself.
@@gracieb.3054 We can’t take it with us. If a designer bag does something for the person than it’s not for us to criticize. Yeah investment is the key to sustaining your financial longevity but venturing into any legitimate investment without a proper guidance of an expert can lead to greater loss
I’m a woman who could buy designer brands monthly with ease but choose not to because I don’t see value in it. Not knocking it. To each his own. Instead I invest surplus money each month regardless of market swings. Doing this for the past 20+ years has made me financially free which means I sleep very well at night. I do however value travel and will splurge on it a few times each year. I loved this “man/woman on the street video. It was very interesting. Thanks for what you do. 👍🏻👍🏻
I’d planned to but a nice LV bag (already have 2) but instead found a nice local leather company and bought 2 large round and one small Dr.s bag. Two phone cases and 2 passport covers. All new and for less than the $1300 LV bag I wanted. Also bought my husband a large leather and canvas toiletry bag. All for less than $500. Beautiful colors and they smell great just like my 2 Hadley London leather zip wallets.
I make 150k as a nurse . I have one LV and I absolutely love it. It’s lasted years and looks brand new . It does make me feel good knowing how hard I work. I would love another but I don’t necessarily need another . Maybe for my next bday! Also these bags go up in value for those who don’t know :)
I watch the entire video and here’s my opinion . My husband and I income is a little over six figures. I work part-time ( now) his is almost at six. Both have Bachelors degrees , built and sold a home. Our savings acct is well off, our daughter savings is well off both going well, investments. I’ve been purchasing LV before marriage , gifted LV and Tiffany’s. Begun in 07’. I think anyone can afford luxury on any salary. Saving up for it etc. I purchase pre-loved as well and the majority of my LV collection was purchased overseas , which is quite inexpensive. Overseas again and prices are way cheaper than the states. My purchases of LV are under 2,000. I don’t go often nor am I into trends. I used my bags just like I use my Coach bags or vintage Dooney bags. No debt or credit card purchases . Everyone doesn’t want to own a home, or a car like others so that’s not a priority of theirs. I’f you get a tax refund purchase one thing under 1,000 and bank the rest. Some people who make six figures or more do not know how to budget. Some who make less does. I don’t think because you make less than society’s amt of income you shouldn’t purchase a luxury . Who made up that rule? Budgeting is key.
@@daliacarrillo8588 Yes in Europe they are cheaper and you can get a VAT refund. We’re in Japan now and the yen rate is low, so prices are low on purchasing things.
I purchase most of my Gucci, Valentino, Louis, etc…from consignment stores and pay half the price. I have a 6 figure salary, own rental property and understand the concept of spending disposable income only. Buy items in your price range.
I like designer brands but within reason. I bought one Chanel WOC (before the outrageous price increases) and one YSL clutch and I can honestly say I’m just about good for life. I wanted the experience and I got it. I love the persons that was honest and said she made around 50,000 a year and said save don’t put luxury on credit or loan just save for what you want. Really good advice especially in a bad bad economy
Everyone was pretty cool but the pilot lady was so pleasant & informative. I love that you tap in for career info making bout more than just cool designer stuff (which i enjoy too lol).
The lady that said save up. That’s exactly what I do. I work a regular 9-5. My friends eat out often, shop every weekend, go to concerts, nail salons, movies, etc. Things that I’m not interested in because they can get pricey and I can only afford to do one thing so I choose LV as my one thing. I save all those coins and buy a Louis once a year. It’s for a lifetime.
It is not though, is it? You'll get tired of those bags... better spend it on a nice social life, on trips.... don't be a victim of this companies marketing strategy.... you know their stuff is mass produced right? And that their quality isn't like extraordinary .... it really isn't difficult or expensive to produce a beautiful quality bag. It really isn't..... and any bag, expensive or not, will look used and tired after years of use.... especially canvas. A quality full leather bag will age well.... but .... anyway.... LV is mass produced and they aim for the masses, otherwise they wouldn't sell.... go see the world, experience culture and nights out with friends... don't put money in the accounts of the shareholders of LV: those shareholders aren't saving up money for products.... they do travel, have dinners out and go to movies ...
I get your a materialistic person and there’s nothing wrong w that but don’t forget to live as well cause the memories not the experiences w ppl we love are worth more than anything else. That goes for ppl that save up as much as they can as well. They forget to live.

It's ok to treat yourself once in a while and to celebrate achievements, but avoid constantly buying for no reason these products are "Luxury", not necessity.
This is a great video. Many young people see more and more people shopping luxury and we never know who’s ultimately paying that bill. Is it a sugar daddy? Is it mom and dad? But the best lesson is to learn from people and have respectful conversations. Instead of being envious, find out what it takes to get there for yourself.
This assumes that there are people who are envious. I'm sure most people are like me and care about paying their bills, saving for retirement or other things, and don't give a crap about designer brands.
Insightful video. I just want to know best how people split their pay, how much of it goes into savings, spendings or investments. I'm 27, and earn nothing less $250k per year, but nothing to show for it yet
People spend money when they have it. And certain people spend more money when they have more. Consider seeking advise from a financial advisor if you are concerned about managing your finance better
Right, you can avoid the pitfalls associated with lifestyle inflation by consulting a well grounded advisor, to help plan your short- and long-term goals, it all depends on proper guidance. I've watched my income generate wealth over the past 2 years and 6 months, I now own a house fully paid, and with at least $2.2m sitting in savings thus far. All of this is a result of subsequent investments, and following expert advise.

Exactly. People in comments brag that they make over $350K a year and buy everything at Walmart. Then, my question is... what do they do with all the money they make? We are talking about ~$20K/month net. If they don't invest in themselves (of course putting aside a big % of income for retirement) and splurge in luxury goods or travel, then what's the point of working hard and making all that money?
I bought my first and only lv bag, a weekend duffle. The only travel bag I use and abuse for the 11 yrs now. If I get a new one I'd pay double almost of what I paid for this. My bag remains awesomely functional without any tear, flake or zipper issue. It's definitely worth it. Whenever I NEED something, I tend to go with the best I can afford.

As a teen, I used to think designer stuff was cool and aspired to have the money to buy it one day. But now, after years struggling financially I think that when I someday when I start making real money I would NEVER blow it on a handbag. Invest, save, travel the world, use money for experiences not things. But to each their own...
I’m an RN, single, no kids, been doing overtime for years in a row - 50-60 hrs a week. I buy only 1 LV a year (for my bday) in addition to others. One thing is true, if you are not rich, but in modesty and not in trends. Celebs buy the same things at the same time and call afford to throw it to the side when it’s no longer popular, so I try to make my purchases timeless and not too loud in color
The woman who answered that no, luxury goods aren't worth it, after the Balanciaga scandal, is SMART. I feel the same way (and still just bought myself an LV bag that I've wanted forever). However, I do feel that LV is going to be more cautious about their reputation than Balenciaga was. I HOPE.
My boyfriend, as of 2 years, bought me a designer ring for Christmas. He was honest and told me the price, I made him take it back. We're in our late 20s and not set in our careers yet. Wow. This was an eye opening video. We have been “poor” our entire marriage. My husband is a construction superintendent, making under $60K annually, and I am a stay at home mother (because we are committed to homeschooling our children, and that was decided before we ever got married) so, obviously, even though I work full time, I make no money. We are very blessed and have a beautiful and happy life. I knew that (obviously) there’s a pretty big divide between us in our rented double wide home, and the expansive ranches with private airports around here, but I really don’t think I ever thought about what it must be like to have hundreds of thousands of dollars of income per year. It’s just a different world. I also think I don’t really understand items that cost hundreds of times over their value just because of their tag. That’s very strange to me. I buy almost everything my family needs at thrift stores, and I’m very careful to buy very well made, high quality things. But the name brand is not a part of the equation.
Sounds like you used to be being poor . Reminds me of when I was growing up and people in the church used to try to convince me that money is evil . I’m 40 and I make about 165K a year , and I still consider myself barely scratching the surface when it comes to my potential

I like LV. The quality is there. The style is there. The brand has been around since 1854. That’s saying something. I like “legacy” brands. They are iconic. I started buying their handbags when I finally had “disposable” income. With luxury brands, you can buy less, keep them longer, and sell them when you no longer want them.

First-time viewer: this was very well done - and I am glad that people were willing to talk about their finances. The more we talk about our finances, the less the subject becomes taboo, and the hope of equal wages and living wages become reality. Interestingly enough, as everyone will tell you, as soon as you net over 7 figures, you no longer want luxury...unless you are from generational wealth. So, very well done video, and, yes, I have one LV bag (it was a gift from The Hubs) - but I think I'm single-handedly keeping Marc Jacobs in business.
My husband bought me one as a gift, and I love it. I look at it the same way I look at jewelry. It’s special, holds its value, and I’m looking forward to giving it to my daughter one day.
This was such a good session. I appreciate you doing this. I am a designer lover. Some pieces are worth buying and some aren’t. Designer brands are definitely overpriced and at times not worth it. SamsCloset - Necessary? It's never necessary. It is just wanted, no more. It is possible to dress quite well with items much cheaper and sometimes of even better quality. All these brand name items are grossly overpriced. They seem to be acquired for bragging/showing off. Unless you are extremely wealthy, it is a waste of money that could be used for savings accounts for your later years. And money can be lost even easier than it is acquired.
In my opinion, if you have it, then spend it; you can’t take it with you after all. The problem with buying expensive things is if you don’t have the funds and are buying on credit. The other issue with expensive brands is if you start buying this sort of material when you are younger and sacrificing things that are more important like buying real estate, saving for a rainy day or saving for your children's education, you may end up having regrets.
Yes, exactly. I'd like to add neglecting your health too. Some people buy a bunch of stuff, expensive stuff, while they neglect their health! That stuff can easily be replaced but you can't!
don’t be caught up in the material things, God doesn’t look at how successful you are here on earth. He looks at your character, your heart what you are doing here on earth with the Gift he has given you …. Are you helping the poor the widows and the children… God bless you !
BRILLIANT ENTREPRENEURSHIP! I thoroughly enjoyed your video... NOT because I care who's buying designer (although it was interesting that all the actual purchasers were TOURISTS) but to see your confidence in action- a young man who's using his head to make money! I literally 'tripped' on this video looking for which size LV Neverfull to buy for travel. I only buy pre- loved designer- not only because it's cheaper than the stores but because the OLDER bags are MUCH BETTER QUALITY than the new products. I don't care about LABEL but I DO care about Quality and an old LV Neverfull will last me AND be passed down to my daughter. So, cost-per-use is CHEAPER than a 'normal' bag- especially if you travel as much as I do! GREAT JOB! I pray you get TONS of new members in your group!
Personally, I've never had a desire to spend astronomical sums of money for basic clothing or handbags. I am capable of making the purchases, but I just don't see the value. On top of that, after running an Amazon FBA business for a few years it makes it even more difficult when you realize that Any of these items could be made for just like $40- $50 per unit, then they sell it for a 100x.... It just feels like you're getting scammed to me
Not really cause a lot of those items could have a lot of resell value which there is a market for it but to each its own it’s all about what makes you happy
Depends. LV coated canvas products, yes. But the leather is insanely good quality. My first real Louis Vuitton purchase was a preloved vintage epi leather piece, over 20 years old, and it still looks brand new. There's no way a $60 bag can hold up to that.
If you’re making 100k- 150k you should still not be buying Designer clothes . I can say this because I’m in that category. That’s just on paper after taxes you’re missing out on tens of thousands . In Los Angeles 10 to 12 grand ( before taxes ) a month is still barely getting by
Sounds like you have a spending problem if you're barely getting by on $10K in LA. I live in NYC and I am slightly past that range and I am beyond getting by. I also rent a $2,900 studio. If you're not saving $4,000 a month on this salary, you need to evaluate your spending. I was able to save at least $4000 a month on a $130K salary. My rent was lower then.
It's all about priorities. Some people prioritize designer clothes and accessories above cars, travel or sports equipment, for example. People should purchase whatever they please as long as they can afford it.
People's are free to buy anything they like. They work hard and deserve to reward their hard work. If you like $2 cotton bag or if you like to spend 2K for luxury brand as long you don't stealing people's money. Remind yourself every 1k you spent give $100 for donations to the charity. You will feel more happy 😊
I like designer brands because of their excellent quality. That being said, I can’t ever see myself shopping at a LV store. I prefer to shop sales at outlets like Coach & Michael Korres where I can still get a beautiful bag for a much better price. 😊
I’ve always wanted the LV Multicolour hand bag it’s so pretty 😍 but it’s just way out of my budget but one day I’ll get one! Nothing wrong with treating yourself, but because I have an average income I can afford to treat myself to getting acrylic nails at the nail salon and they last a long time so it’s really about the quality 😊
People with money buy things because they like them, not because they care whether someone else notices. Real Estate guy looks way out there with all those brands but I think he's awesome because he clearly is into it for himself.
The people I know who have real wealth wear quality clothing that has zero logos or words on it & would be embarrassed to wear flashy branding. The ‘wanna be’s’ get caught up in designer - & everyone with real money looks down on it.
My grandma uses her fabric bag for almost 20 yrs, beside the zipper is broken, and the bag condition still looks great! 🤣 She earns 20-30k/month back in my country but never own any expensive stuffs.
I truly don’t understand that kind of mentality. If you have it, then spend it, or give it away. My in-laws are rich, but live like they have nothing. Makes no sense to me.
I have Michael Kors, Coach and fossil bags that I have been using for many years almost everyday, and only cost 100-150$ each and they are still in very good condition up to now.
Such a cool video!! I always wondered who bought from these luxury brands especially LV since I find their stuff ugly but cool to hear about the jobs and what they make. The pilot gave great advice! Very cool.
I launched an online business last year and it's not easy. It takes patience, determination and focus and sometimes a good break/connection. I loved this video and there should be more made. I personally don't like LV, this was very informative and at least the people were honest enough to stop n talk. I'd welcome anyone who would love to connect with me ❤ I have never purchased any designer brands, the ones I have were given to me. I bought my mum a Gucci wallet 2 years ago for her 81st birthday because I wanted her to have that novelty experience.
you don't have to be rich to go shopping at LV. I usually buy my designer pre-loved and have made some amazing deals. LV has very good small leather goods which have lasted me many many years. It's also a brand that has good reselling value. So you get to enjoy it and then sell it for little loss. Same as with Chanel.
The pre loved/vintage products from LV are actually better quality than the products they make now. Love that you have a pre loved. I have a pre loved Chanel. Same storie. ❤
I bought my first and only LV bag in 2015. To this day, I get compliments on it. It's truly very well made 9 years later and trust me, I carry it. It's been on many trips with me over the years and in daily life. Great investment, in my opinion.
Designer to me is Coach and Michael Kors from the outlet malls. I don’t make enough money to shop at LV and if I did that money would be going to my dream house lol
If you have the extra funds, I believe that purchasing designer stuff is a good idea. However, I do not believe that it is a good idea to buy these items with credit and then be unable to pay off the debt because your income is significantly lower than the amount that you spend on certain luxury brands.
Agree. I’m now 51 and have started buying more expensive things over the last 10 years because I can afford it. I’m shocked when people in their 20’s are buying shoes and bags for thousands of dollars. It’s something I would have never done because I had more important things to spend my money on like: a home, car, young children….but then again I didn’t come from money.
As a wife it's like a dream come true to own a designer bag, but my husband, a chinese guy, always contradict. We are self-employed but He always says you're only paying for the name but not the thing bec there are always same qualities but of cheaper price. He always tells me BE PRACTICAL. know your priorities. It's kinda sad but true
People shouldn't be made to feel bad that they buy designer brands. Those that brag about giving to charity work - you arent the only ones! People with money buying a designer bag also give to charity. Everyone's entitled to their choices without judgement.
I do like to buy quality items but not overpriced ones. I put my money where it’s supposed to go, and I don't waste it on designer brands because, at the end of the day, it is just stuff. But I do travel a lot. I invest wisely in real estate and I think to put money into my retirement. Rich people don't spend their money on futile items. But it is nice to spend just adequately when needed.
It’s worth the money if you can afford it. Yes it is over priced. But your paying for the years of craftsmanship, quantity and design that’s involved in each product
There isn't so much craftsmanship in there, at least not more than other quality bags of let's say 600 to 1000 euro.... LV is mass producing....and aiming at a mass market.... their marketing makes you believe they are more than they are...
To the people hating on people who make 100k not being able to afford designer. It’s not black and white. I make 100k and have invested my money since I was 24 and have so much growth in investing and combined with saving I totally afford and so buy designer. I have a nice house, vacations, looking to buy another house, and I have no debt bc I do not buy what I don’t have.
I really appreciate this video I appreciate the questions he asked. Not just the general questions that his other counterparts asked. I also loved the responses
I make over $100k and I would never spend over $1k on a bag. The most I have spent is $140 on a leather Coach bag I bought for someone as a gift. For myself, I've never even spent $100 on a bag. I like name brands, but I only buy them on sale.
Designer brand like Louis is cheaper in Europe I remember when Louis Vuitton was 500dollars over 10 years ago I bought my first Louis bag the never full back then to put my politics books in as I was in college studying BA in international relations and politics everyone had a Louis bag for college. I’m from the uk London so it’s not really a big deal here but in LA I have been to that store in Beverly Hills it’s 3 times more expensive. I will be buying more Louis in Monaco on a girls trip, as it’s cheaper than even in London . Because of taxes. I think wearing designer in Europe is a way of life you don’t need to be rich to afford it .
Interesting video! Yes I do buy LV. I think it is just up to the individual and the choices the person wants to make with their money. I personally think you should buy if you like it or want it as long as you do not go into debt because of it. Even if you don’t make a lot, you can still save for something expensive. It is what you prioritize. Just think about what the average person spends a week on coffee or lunch out and multiply that out for a year. You may be surprised how easily that adds up to an LV bag within a year…..
Believe it or not, there are people who cannot afford coffee or lunch out, let alone for a year. The perspectives on here seem very skewed by extreme wealth, IMO. It seems like there's a lot of justification for conspicuous consumption. At least with food and drink you need those to survive. Those could at least make life easier. A bag just transports stuff and you don't need LV to do that. If we as individuals realized that if we all spent more of our money and attention on issues like homelessness and income inequality we would collectively have the power to make society better for all.
You could easily save that money and invest it. Spend a 50 or below on a bag. Social media has gotten people to spend more money than they have. It used to be that people used to spend on luxury goods if they made high sis figures and above.
Thanks for the video it does take time, patience, and courage to ask ppl those questions. I myself prefer more quiet luxury brands where there are no logos with good quality: Delvaux, Moynat, Valextra, Loro Piana, Launer, Senreve, Toteme, Loewe, Chloe, Khaite, Savette,The Row, Brunello Cucinelli, and Mark Cross.
I checked out the Louis Vutton store in Chicago, and basically felt like I was being trailed the entire time, even when I told the attendent at the front of the store that I was just looking around. If that's the kind of attitude that I'm going to be treated, although I don't look the part, it's not the kind of store that I really want to be part of.
I think People can do whatever they want. I don't judge. Life is short and we have to do what makes us happy. TRAVEL , FAMILY . FRIENDS ETC... If your important needs are taken care Anyone can Splurge . We all have things we spend a lot on. Coffee drinks , traveling, smoking , it's our money we decide on where we want to spend it. But on the other side , LV has awesome customer service, and the warranty they carry is AWESOME! Most people pass this stuff down. I consider my a investment I have two Daughters that can ENJOY these items after me. I have given them COACH, MK Already. Brand New , and pass downs from me
I live in a small rural town in MN and nobody gives a sh-t what designers crap you wear. Those rich folks need to find a charity to give their money to. But to each their own.
Listen, I think that people who eat huge amounts of fast food and other stuff at extra value of Chanel purse per month shall give this money to charity. Also those who have huge tvs and other things which are not vitally necessary, they would better donate instead.
I’m a stay at home wife, & I own a LV purse & LV wallet. It’s about the quality. It’s my everyday purse, & no matter how much I “beat it up,” it holds up. Worth every penny if you ask me.
It looks like the recession has hit Louis Vuitton. The bags are way overpriced, but they still might be worth buying if you're going use one for at least 20 years and keep it new condition. Another video had a bag priced at just under $1100. $50 a year spread out would be worth it for a fanatic of the product.
Great video. Just a comment about why I like your channel and videos. I appreciate your approach with people. Engaging personality. People feel at ease speaking with you and you build an immediate rapport with them. Always appreciate your content.
Interesting to hear peoples’ incomes relative to their luxury spending. For me, I didn’t spend more than $33k on a car until I was a millionaire. And I didn’t buy my first multi-million dollar house until it cost less than what I would make in 12-months (pre-tax). And I didn’t buy anything designer until I was worth 8-figures. When someone spends 3% of their annual income on a bag -- ouch!!!
People can save up their money and chose to spend it on whatever they wish, regardless of their income as long as they aren’t struggling financially. I don’t understand why people are so judgmental when it comes to other’s wallets.
@@jmueller8081 I have saved and spent 3% on a bag and travel. Years later, I am not in financial hardship nor am I “enslaved”. You don’t know anyone’s pockets or future. & You appear very close minded… But to each their own. Stay judgmental and close minded all you want 👌🏾
@@ttdur8102 I'm not saying it's truth for everyone. But I am saying it is a telltale toward financial hardship. Especially at that income level and age. Also, you do know that SnewJ asked people to comment on their reactions. Literally every time he asked the person their income levels, he also asked about the cost of the liability they were coming out of the store with. He's literally setting up the video so that he can draw engagement from his audience. "What do you guys think?" he asks about expensive expenditures at different income levels. Also ironically, you're coming pretty hard at me with your own judgements of my observations. Funny stuff for someone who positions themself as anti-judgement LOL. Maybe you're in the wrong thread.
I actually needed to see this video because i always wondered who would buy such overpriced products i always wondered what those guys did for a living. thankyou for making it
I’m a full time nanny and I own an event design company that does pretty well. I make good money but obviously would love to reach 6-7 figures, currently working towards that. I am a girl that loves all things luxury, convenience etc! I shop at LV often, I love the brand, I love the experience! Anyone can shop at high end stores, budget correctly, be financially mature and have good credit! I have money but using credit to earn points works for me too. Pay your balances down to 0 monthly and don’t bite off more than u can chew!!! Cheers to all my Lux babes🥂
If you took most of your stuff and put it in storage for one year, you would be amazed by how little you actually need to be happy, or how little stuff adds value to life. I think those minimalist people are onto something.

NOT🤦🏽♂
Nice story. Who wrote it?

So the sacrifice they had to make for all that cash was an autistic son🤔??
@@LindaKayHolevas the primary reason most things computer-related pay so much nowadays is because the entire field is so oversaturated so they have an excuse to keep the market competitive and only look for the best candidates by keeping salaries ridiculously high

Malaria charities save 1 life per $5,000 donated. So if you spend $5k more on fashion items than you need to, you're willingly letting a child die. It really is that simple.
Rich people are the absolute worst.
I like this guy. He actually asks good questions, gets the interviewee engaged, and doesn’t make it all about him.
Nothing wrong with buying luxury stuffs. After working hard, reward yourself with something that makes you happy. Whatever floats your boat as long as you are aware of your finances, really
Wow
Exactly! I reward myself with luxuries. It's what I work for as well as bills and necessities. Some people assume people may do it to show off. If that was the case for me, I'd be taking selfies with every handbag I have, which I don't.
I bought luxury bag with my hard earned money. I can say nothing wrong with that
What's wrong with that is that one could argue that it is immoral to spend money like this when there are so many people suffering.
😂that is what capitalism wants
That female pilot was a badass. My dad’s a pilot. They’re a special breed. My husband bought me a Louis Vuitton bag for my birthday last year; it was so popular and rare he had to order it from Florida and have it shipped to Los Angeles. Every woman who sees it goes nuts over it, and it truly is a fabulous bag. That said initially i was embarrassed to use it because I thought it was a bit silly to have a designer bag so pricey. I’m not a handbag girl. I prefer to spend my luxury money on thoroughbred horses. I have two, and they cost way more than handbags. 😂
Which bag if you don't mind me asking?
Animals and their care are always worth more than any bag!
Buying LV is worth it for me. I’ve had my monogram wallet for 5 years and it still looks great after daily use. I got their perfume as well, and it smells amazing. Lasts all day. It’s worth it if it makes you happy.
They do last long. If you measure cost-per-use basis, they are worth the money
My Zippy is 15 years old, impeccable 👍
As long as their money is spent responsibly, meaning they are not going into debt for it, who cares what else the money could have been used for. Hello I'm new here, what exactly kind of investment are you talking about here, I'm really interested too
I’m a woman who could buy designer brands monthly with ease but choose not to because I don’t see value in it. 👍🏻👍🏻
Your comment really resonates with me :) currently choosing to do the same with my surplus money 🎉
How can I do that?
I’d planned to but a nice LV bag (already have 2) but instead found a nice local leather company and bought 2 large round and one small Dr.s bag. Two phone cases and 2 passport covers. All new and for less than the $1300 LV bag I wanted. Also bought my husband a large leather and canvas toiletry bag. All for less than $500. Beautiful colors and they smell great just like my 2 Hadley London leather zip wallets.

I wanted the experience and I got it. I love the persons that was honest and said she made around 50,000 a year and said save don’t put luxury on credit or loan just save for what you want.

But the best lesson is to learn from people and have respectful conversations. Instead of being envious, find out what it takes to get there for yourself.

I started buying their handbags when I finally had “disposable” income. With luxury brands, you can buy less, keep them longer, and sell them when you no longer want them.

Interestingly enough, as everyone will tell you, as soon as you net over 7 figures, you no longer want luxury...unless you are from generational wealth. This was such a good session. I appreciate you doing this. I am a designer lover. Some pieces are worth buying and some aren’t. Designer brands are definitely overpriced and at times not worth it. The older I get I realize the quality of the merchandise produced in todays era is less durable. I began investing in designer pieces at the age of 25.

Not really cause a lot of those items could have a lot of resell value which there is a market for it but to each its own it’s all about what makes you happy
Good point!
Depends. LV coated canvas products, yes. But the leather is insanely good quality. My first real Louis Vuitton purchase was a preloved vintage epi leather piece, over 20 years old, and it still looks brand new. There's no way a $60 bag can hold up to that.
You wear handbags?

woman who is a private pilot = I got family/generational wealth. Nobody learns to fly at 16 if there's any question on how to pay for it.
Clearly you’re just talking just to talk, I used to work with someone who learned to fly in his teens as well
I had the option to learn to fly because my dad learned to fly as a hobby.
@@MySwagg93 I thought I heard her say she flies for her family at the beginning of the conversation. So I would guess her fam is loaded.
I love how you emphasize the quality of materials used, cicishops! It really helps in understanding the value.
The first couple are so down to earth and lovely. Their matching sunnies are too cute!
LOL!
I have a nice house, vacations, looking to buy another house, and I have no debt bc I do not buy what I don’t have.
curious. do you have a 4 year degree? if so, did you graduate with any debt?
@Justin T that's what I want to know .....did you go to college??? What do you do for a living Yvette?
5:56 I love how animated, bubbly, and informative this woman is and just so open to sharing!
I absolutely love this guy! Articulate, engaging, warm, great voice that's not annoying and no schtick.
Ong I feel that- I even live near the neighborhood in the bud and I don’t like shopping here unless I get the look right for the day 🤣
I think People can do whatever they want.
Their stores are for show. They could just sell online or stay open for special customers and would do just fine.
Agree.
People can save up their money and chose to spend it on whatever they wish, regardless of their income as long as they aren’t struggling financially. I don’t understand why people are so judgmental when it comes to other’s wallets.
@@ttdur8102 3% of annual income on a bag is sign of future financial hardship. But you’re right, they can be enslaved if they want.
@@thinkhector yea I agree. In my home, I’m a huge minimalist. I def agree here
