When asked which suspension we preferred, Keith replied - "I'm happy with my choice". When i asked him what he meant by that, he said he didn't have to work as hard with the Shock Therapy shocks. Please be polite in the comments. I will delete un-helpful comments. Hope you enjoyed the comparison!!
I'm assuming "My Choice" is in regards as to his choice in shocks that he paid for? Am I correct in thinking that you paid regular consumer retail for your ST setup? and this is "Your choice" selection? Did you also buy full retail the MTS shock setup to compare or did MTS offer a free set to compare? Thanks guys...This was a huge amount of work you put in this video for us all!
Correct, we purchased our Shock Therapy Shock setups, and after the test, we would make the same choice again. MTS did not offer us anything for free (other than some swag we're going to give away in a swag-bag soon). They just brought their shocks out to compare to ours
How much tuning was MTS allowed? How much tuning was done on the ST? I'm assuming the ST's have been on for awhile and have been tweaked. I'm running stock shocks/springs so I'd like to know. If the ST's and MTS's came out of the box no tweaks, makes a difference or one set was tweaked but not the other.
It looked like in the video the mts shocks were for sure kicking you around more at high speed....what about the small chop feel....were they as good as the st
What I noticed was he was working the steering wheel more on the MTS ride. I personally have Shock Therapy but I have to say that the fact they came out from Arizona says alot about their customer service end of things. Great series.
That is exactly what Keith told me. He had to work harder to drive through the hard stuff with the MTS shocks. This is certainly not a reflection on the guys at MTS - they were awesome to hang out with!!
To the average UTV rider (probably 90% of us), I suspect we'd be very happy with either set of shocks. While I sense that a one is a bit better than the other, It is very apparent in the videos that both shock types work very well. Great work on the video and compare. Thanks!!
Damn it's hard to say because both did so well. I did notice Shock Therapy didn't have as much drifting from side to side and a tad bit more planted. But, it was so minuscule that I really do not think either is better than the other. I would also like to add that the guys from MTS actually came out to Michigan to see for themselves who's better. That speaks volumes to me and I will be doing my business with MTS. Great job guys!!!
Hey , Just want to say thanks to all for this. Ive been trying to figure out what direction to go with my Turbo S. Both shocks did well and you answered my questions with the side by side video. Thanks to all for a great honest evaluation.
It’s great to see MTS did this. They probably learned a lot and that’s what’s important. Now they can adjust their tune and have an even better product or some may even like the product they have over the competitors already. Competition only helps us the consumers. Look at the SXS market and how fast the manufacturers are advancing. The price of the MTS is well represented of the product I saw demonstrated and they will only get better. Good job.
Shock therapy looked a little harsher on the driver from the in-car shots, but kept the car more planted and that was plainly seen in the out of car shots, and the fact that the throttle had to be lifted on both mts runs to regain composure. But thats a lesson learned for the mts guys and now they can come back with some tweaks, who knows, maybe if shock therapy had gone to mts's stomping grounds the outcome might have been different
Other than hearing what you guys had on each one. It was a great comparison of the 2. It’s not very often anyone has a chance to compare 2 different shocks in the same conditions, on the same car, and on the same day. So hats off to you guys.
One of the biggest things I noticed when MTS did my ride was my kids weren’t being pounded in the back seat. I have a 4 and 7 year old that sit in mine, and when talking with Greg flinders, he said it was a 4 seater and should be comfortable for all 4 seats. They worked hard to remove the harmonics that were so harsh in the back seat. I can also speak to the customer service of MTS, very responsive to messages, phone calls and their team does excellent work. Both are substantially better than stock, but I’m very happy with my MTS setup.
In regards to making suspension "Softer" That's easy.... Drilling holes in shock pistons, Using softer shims in the stacks/Valving or the simplest way...stick a small washer under the shim stack to create an easy flow of oil to pass through the piston with less resistance. Now the problem here is if you soften up the valving like this to the point that your rig feels as tho it's floating on air and the compression and rebound move so freely it cannot be adjusted to control the more important terrain such as G-outs, cross ditches and jumps. This is where MTS falls short. Especially to the faster drivers. Not only this but they make no bypass tube mods. HUGE difference there. ST will change your bypass stacks to give you better tuning ability and can install upgraded Billet 6 way bypasses. Again a huge improvement over MTS and stock. Guys....do your homework. ST is the leader for a good reason. This is why when you watch the video closer...The MTS setup is all over the place compared. The MTS setup gets the control arm flapping in the wind creating crazy wheel feedback and the vehicle will not be able to keep planted and thus why the car is "Uncontrollable" in such conditions. Suspension is not "Rocket Science" but there is science in it! So for those of you that like to drive fast and want a safer more predictable car...ST is the only safe choice. For the folks that don't drive on the edge and never will...MTS is a less expensive option but you will give up many key features.
I had Shock Therapy rebuild the shocks for my former factory racer XP900 (2012) Fox Podium 2's this last February. They completely rebuilt them, revolved, larger nitrogen cylinder and the 2 stage springs. $1314.00 out the door with tax. Worth EVERY dime! I noticed in your video that the Shock Therapy runs the tires were more planted, did less hopping around, and the car really had alot less side drift left/right. With the Can-Am being longer and heavier than my XP900, that problem would have been much more pronounced with my 1400lb, 91/2 ft. long machine. But having said that, I really appreciate the MTS guys hanging it all out there for this comparison. We rarely get to see product comparisons like this. It won't be long before these guys will be hanging right there with ST. It just takes time, experience and determination to improve. They are doing what they need to do to get better.
I have Shock Therapy did it in N.C. Shocks, ride improvement, and Limit straps. 1830.00. It's a 605 mile ride one way worth every dime. 1200 miles on it same ride hight and no problems. Great video.
Great comparison between the shocks,me personally could not tell a hole lot of difference between the two.I would have drive the two and feel the rides. Its good to see you and Keith out there doing these kinds of videos and demonstrating all these cool products out there for us to see them before we buy them and are and give an honest opinion.keep the good work
Thank you brotherman! The difference most easily noticed would be the steering wheel. Watch how hard Keith has to work to keep the MTS ride going straight
A buddy of mine just got his X3 RS shocks done at MTS and the ride is amazing. The springs they put on his look a lot different than the ones in this video.
I would love to see a side by side comparisoin with shock therapy and a stock setup. But the comparision was done well nice work. My vote is for Shock therapy but both are awesome. MTS seems a bit stiffer and more head wobble. But again both great and great job. Thanks for taking the time. That takes a lot of time to set that whole thing up.
Well my friend! Head to my video library and look for the "Is Shock Therapy worth it?" Video! There we compare it to stock! I have a full 3 part series revolving around our upgrade experience. And your observations are exactly what we felt. The MTS shocks made the car slightly more difficult to handle
We're extremely lucky here in AZ to have so many local places for things like this. There's 5 or 6 different places that tune UTV shocks that are local to me, including MTS and ST.
MTS like it wanted to wash out on the rear maybe adjustment issue or driver, with Shock Therapy it seemed to have more contact or control at all times, again could be adjustment or driver issue, great comparisons and videos!
I run MTS Off Road and honestly night and day as far as when my car was stock I can hit the whoops hard with smooth rebound awesome group of guys down there I highly recommend MTS Offroad to everyone that’s interested in a better ride than stock
Great video! bottom line here is both performed amazing, being in AZ and knowing MTS and their crew who come out to group events and support im probably biased, thanks for sharing this guys!
I know this is old. But great vid. Luv my UTV suspension options. This is a tuff ask. Good on MTS to take on an industry leader and we’ll done! 1st pass MTS rear was out of control. Second pass rear was equal. Better steering wheel action on shock T. But 95% of us would never out drive either set up. Awesome valving on both!!!
Video shows what Keith said that he did't need to work as hard w/Shock Therapy. Good side by side comparison but as people have commented below. There are other aspects of riding with different terrain that maybe the MTS setup would do better? Also maybe a cost perspective vs performance gained? MTS commented that their tune is $1500. Some things to consider. Great video comparison Aaron!
Absolutely brother. I am not saying MTS is bad - like I wouldn't say someone who bought a non-turbo SxS is bad. If that's what you can afford, you're still going to have a hell of a great time! But if you want to run in the front of the pack... you're going to need to spend the cash for a turbo.
@@4thegains856 they did not compare to stock shocks just st i agree though st is i believe 200 more . Also i believe that in the slikrok video of mts they are still developing and improving the shock tunes and also shock therapy
Great video guys! Also love the ST vs stock. I recently picked up a X3 and have been obsessed in studying suspension for it. Your video helped me decide which direction to go, and then reading the comments firmed that decision up even more. (I've watched a bunch of your other videos and have learned a TON about the X3 in general from you guys - keep it up!)
To me, and this is just what I saw. Looked like the MTS suspension held them more into the seat. As with ST, it looked like the body was getting bounced around more. Either way, they are killer setups and much better over stock springs. I was gonna go with ST but went with MTS. Do to everyone that rides out in my area in the PNW has MTS or went from ST to MTS because of the terrain we have. Killer video!
After watching the video MANY times, it did seem as though the Shock Therapy setup seemed to hug the whoops better and give you better control on the road. The MTS setup looked like it was going a bit sideways and harder to stay on the road. I am still wanting to get my shocks done on the X3 and I think I will be going with my first instinct which was the Shock Therapy. I just need $$$ LOL Great video guys, thanks for this comparison...
One thing I must mention. The MTS crew will work hard to earn your business and not just leave it at that. They are truly great enthusiast and businessmen. They will answer any question on the spot and their price difference of $1500 vs ST at $2-2500 is a lot of money for what seemed minimal difference. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the comment! I can only speak from experience, I am not trying to speak for others - ST answered all my questions quickly and completely. As well, I am not saying MTS is bad just as I would say a non turbo sxs is bad. But based only on what I saw, if you want to run with the front of the pack, you'll need to buy a turbo
Just to keep things in perspective... MTS - $1500 for springs, Valving, No bypass mods ST - $2100 for springs, Valving, Piston Mods, Bypass valving, Shaft mods. The difference is not more $ without getting more. You get more done with ST when directly comparing what you get for the $ and the results matter to the guys that drive harder and faster. The MTS is a huge improvement over stock but I feel ST will most likely be the best choice for those of us that want to drive harder and go faster.( From what I've witnessed and seen on these videos) I personally have never driven a MTS tuned rig yet...A friend of mine did and his personal experience told me everything I personally needed to know. I don't want to get into all that was described... I'd rather see a great comparison video so that we can all judge for ourselves. I did ST on my X3 MAX... I cannot be happier but I drive it like I stole it in all conditions...Especially the dunes!
I think shock therapy rides a lot smoother when it comes to rough terrain but other then that you got to give it up to Mts for showing up for the battle
Thank you, I don’t plan on taking my RMax through anything that extreme but that being said I’m very impressed with MTS. I’ll be replacing my stock RMax springs with the MTS. Springs. The local FTF Motorsports shop recommended them to me and your Video really helped me with my decision. I hope to be posting a video on how much improved the ride will be in my RMax4.
Great video! Good thing both of these shocks kicked butt. I really didn't want to see you get into those trees sideways at 80mph! Would be your last ride.
Brother, I couldn't agree more. Although it would have made some great UA-cam video.... Getting slung into the trees at that speed would be a bad time!
Awesome video!! I thought that whoops section looked familiar, once I seen the background when you guys were changing the springs, I knew it was tin cup staging area in lake county, and yes that whoop section is nasty!!
ST look like a smoother front end but not as fast and planted compare to the MTS. For the rear, ST look calm and planted to the ground with good tracking compare to MTS a little more unforgiven. For my needs as a fast trail rider no short course, no big jumps the ST would be my pic. Rewind me 20 years younger I would have took the MTS for sure. At the end, this is just a video, it's really hard to choose wisely witout driving it. No infos about the steering feedback, down travel, cornering, ride height. You should do a part 2!! Bring the spec to the table spring rate/availability, warranty, mesurements and price. Video takes were very good and the sxs at the end of the vid is really helpful! Great job!👌
KUDOS! You gave an honest review... even with these guys standing there. Its easy to side with the people who have come to ride with you and let you try their product. Integrity upheld gentlemen. Love it. (Just installed ST dual rates 1 hour ago, haven't ridden it yet and thought Id be disappointed after watching this. I feel better. :-))
If there was a way to display mph that would've been pretty cool, looks like his second pass on the MTS was a bit slower. I don't blame him, I puckered on his first pass when he got loose just watching the video, I'd have slowed too. Great comparison and pretty awesome those guys came out with shocks to compare.
I tried to line up the frames equally as they came over the hill so you could get an idea of which one passed me first. Both times Keith was able to achieve a higher speed with the Shock Therapy shocks.. They did a significantly better job of keeping the car planted and in a straight line over the aggressive whoops. It was super awesome that MTS came out to showcase their product!! I hope they were able to learn something from this experience which will allow them to create an even better product!
This is what seems weird to me.. after first watch I definitely saw the looser steering with mts.. but when I you watch the head and body movement for bounce inside the rzr, mts had less bounce it appears.
I do not agree with the reply. My brother recently got an x3 rs max and it rides like you are on a cloud flying over big rock beds and boulders. His is all stock with no adjustments from the day he bought it. So he doesn't have much body movement but is planted on the ground.
Nice comparison! Those are some decent sized whoops at some serious speeds! I am glad there are other companies out there doing shocks for our cars other than Shock Therapy. I went with UTV Shocks. com as I had no knowledge of MTS. The owner of Shock Therapy has unfortunately earned a very bad reputation as a car builder in the past. That is the reason I went with another company... any other company in fact.
Man I would have loved UTV shocks to come out with us! Once Greg reached out to me to set this up, I contacted Gary as well just to see... He declined :(
Bummer...As a kid I raced MX competitively for 12 plus years...I couldn't wait for the MX magazines to print the "BIKE SHOOTOUTS"! Of course we all favored the brands we rode just to throw the results in our friends faces that rode the other brands! LOL....I enjoyed your videos. Kudos to the MTS guys for showing up to the plate to help in the comparison!!! MTS is obviously a large improvement over stock....But it looks as tho MTS took a second place seat compared to ST. Not bashing in any way....But this might also be the reason ST does 70 plus % of the SXS performance suspension mods.
The only thing we can't tell in this video is how they felt ? The MTS might look a little crazy outside of the car but his head looked like it was bobbing less...
Thanks brother! We did have a G-Out filmed but I didn't put it in because Keith was unable to match the speed leading up to the drop in the MTS shocks to provide a valid comparison... So I didn't include it
Why was Keith unable to match the speed leading up to the G-out drop in the MTS shocked rig? Was it a weather/terrain condition keeping this from happening or was the MTS setup not as capable compared to ST setup keeping this from being compared? I personally would have loved to see this comparison...Also a jump comparison as these are the areas that are a big part of my riding style. Thanks a ton for all your hard work to provide us such awesome videos to help make non biased and consumer informed decisions.
Honestly, it's because Keith was timid after the whoops runs in the MTS setup. His first pass on the whoops was very hard to control the car at those speeds and (you can see in the video) he had to over correct to keep the car straight and almost spun out. The path up to the G-Out is choppy and I just don't think Keith had the confidence to hit it at 80 like he did in the ST setup
I think other factors like customer service and cost push MTS out to the front - both seem to do well in the video, but MTS seems WAY more eager to help in the fine-tuning after the sale and costs less than Shock Therapy. For instance, if I needed some hands-on adjusting, I could get Greg or Nick from MTS on the phone and schedule in-person service within days; In my experience, that’s just not going to happen with Shock Therapy.
I appreciate you comment my friend, but in my experience that's just not true. Shock Therapy had no knowledge of us making this video until after the project was nearly complete. I approached it from a full consumer point of view to get the most honest feedback I could (I have a 3 part series on the experience you should check out). I spent a lot of time with them on the phone, as well as sending video clips to them to help me get everything dialed in. They even offered to come out here for this video, but I declined as I thought that might make things tense. That's not taking away anything from MTS at all, just saying... I have nothing at all bad to say about Shock Therapy. Further... I didn't include the MTS packing in this video... But, I assure you - Shock Therapy takes significantly better care of their product
I’d wager your experience isn’t the norm - I live 15 minutes away from Shock Therapy and couldn’t get even a little help from them after the sale; I couldn’t get anyone but Gina on the phone. And this is recent experience - a few months ago. So, after spending $2,300 at Shock Therapy, I didn’t just run out to spend $1,500 at MTS for fun - it was what I had to do to get someone to work on my suspension.
Man, terribly sorry to hear that man... I'm curious though, which one of our experiences is closer to the norm? In my reading before our purchase, I didn't really find any negative reviews
The FIRST review that shows up on Shock Therapy’s Facebook page, when I pull it up, shows a ONE star review that pretty much falls in line with my own experience with the only difference being that that guy had his shocks shipped to him while they installed mine at their shop. And it’s a customer service experience that I’ve heard told over and over by other local folks too. I agree with you, and your video shows, that the Shock Therapy modified suspension CAN be dialed in to give an AWESOME riding experience, but I also found that getting Shock Therapy to help you do that dialing isn’t as reliable as it should or could be.
Anytime a customer has a bad experience, it sucks. And I'm certainly not on Shock Therapy's payroll. I can only speak from my personal experience, ya know? I didn't have any trouble with their customer experience... And I had another shock tuning company on site to compare them to... So no gimmicks here. Still, if you had a bad experience, that sucks - I hope you wrote a review as well
The shock therapy setup just looked like it had a smoother shock stroke, less jarring... Just plain relaxed and uneventful. Mts looked like it took the hits more sharply and brought a higher pucker factor. This was an extreme test for any suspension though... I wonder how mts would do on regular trail riding with both slow technical and fast sections. I'm sure they both do well with the trail junk, chop, and dips. Well done gents 👍🇺🇸
Your words are exactly how we felt also. We wanted to hit the worst stuff we could find in order to really see how each setup would handle extreme conditional riding. Keith told me that the slow speed chatter / chop was slightly better in the Shock Therapy setup, but both were a huge step up over stock
Full Throttle Off Road gotta give it to MTS for challenging the top dog in the industry. Maybe they will take your input and adjust their spring rates. Either way my Xp turbo will be getting the full shock therapy treatment this summer.
Competition breeds change! I support both companies completely for helping me put this video together! From one consumer to another however, we're happy we went with Shock Therapy. And I have now doubt you will be too!! Thanks for the feedback!
I would like to know what was done to the shocks, was it just springs or did you send them in and have them and have them do the complete valving and all that the company does. the way they are set up on the car I think I have my choice of what was a better shock thank you, guys. I have not had my shocks done yet. this video helped out a lot in my choice.
Understanding that my opinion is based solely on this video (so probably doesn’t mean much without experiencing it in person), it seems there was less body movement in the car with the MTS shocks. With that being said, I’m not sure what advantage they had by being there to set the car up. I wonder if that mattered and if the average consumer would have the same experience with not having personalized hands on support.
To be honest, I don't know that MTS had any advantage because they were physically there. I did work with Shock Therapy to make sure our shocks were dialed in by sending them video clips. No adjustments were needed to the Shock Therapy set up. The MTS guys made 1 adjustment during the run. In either case, both companies will assist in any way they can to make sure your shocks are set up properly.
I read in a forum that when he shot that video with MTS he had a blown ball joint I'm not sure if that would make a difference but definitely something to consider
Great video guys, just would have like to of known what each of the shocks did for the car as far as turning and jumping. Speed and time in the straight runs as well as some turns through the same section would have definitely helped to determine which shock is going to perform the best.
I have a completely stock x3 and I'm a complete amateur. They both looked like the did a phenomenal job but the mts looked like it was working a bit harder.
They are both indeed exceptional in the slow speed mediocre stuff. In our experience, the difference comes in the high speed big chop. The MTS shocks don't do as good of a job keeping the car planted and in a straight line. Driving style could definitely impact which company you had tune your shocks! Thanks for the comment!
The Shock therapy shocks appear to be more responsive, making more contact over the whoops at speed, they seem to work faster on the compression and rebound, the MTS shocks aren't too far off though, its very hard to tell from the video they might be a bit slower on rebound kinda like the shocks might be packing a bit after compression, the stability might improve with some bump steer tuning, you can tell the driver had less confidence at speed with the MTS
I've been thinking a lot about it, watching the video over and over and I think I figured it out. The MTS shocks don't use bump staging, the crossovers are all the way up to the top. When I asked him about it, he commented something to the effect that his shim stack plus spring rates accomplish it for him. But, it looks like the shock stroke never slows down and ends up flopping wildly, which translates a lot of feedback into the steering wheel making the car difficult to control. A lot of unnecessary movement taking place. I know nothing about shock tuning, but it looks like the MTS shocks are just kinda flopping around uncontrollably
I would go with MTS because we spent $1500 on a set of springs from ST and did not get what we paid for. I was hesitant to buy from ST and should had listened to my gut at the time because everytime I contacted ST the dude was very rude and didn't seem to bright. We had to buy more springs and sliders from an other company. They told me this happens a lot and they find themselves undoing the mistaks ST makes. So if MTS has the know how and good customer service, this could be the end of ST. Unless ST get rid of the dude on the phone and internet. I hope this was diplomatic enough. People need to know of this because it happens a lot. Mr Smith seems like a good guy. He just needs better people behind him.
I have talked to the guys at ST a bunch about products I have already purchased, as well as advice about what to purchase. Always willing to talk and give info.
I think if a experience member of the shock therapy team was there to help adjust all the settings on the shocks it would have been a slightly more accurate comparison. That being said this is a great video, thanks for sharing.
You folk are amazing and have freakin' super human vision! I didn't "see" any difference in ride quality via the video footage. Perhaps there would be a seat-o-the-pants difference, but not visually. Both setups were bouncing on down the trail.
Look at slow mo video and see which setup kept the tires in contact with the ground more. In the low speed I thought the MTS was maybe a touch "smoother" but in the chop the ST set kept the tires following the terrain instead of skipping off the ground from high spot to high spot.
That is beautiful that they come out and did that I think more people should do that especially with the aftermarket parts sorry guys send in my shocks to shock therapy keep competing it’s a good thing
Both looked great, car body control looked to me would go to ST ... Given what I have purchased from ST in my book ST is like Apple products which goes beyond the product, best in class support and education on SxS operation. Like many others I like supporting companies that go well beyond in exceeding one’s expectations. Like your Comp video, but having one competitor hand deliver product vs. the others product purchased can leave one with questions... keep your videos coming...
Would have been great to see a blind test and let the driver say what he felt differently from each ride not knowing what he was on. Whats the price difference. He said 1500 what would shock therapy cost for the same set up?
I didn't really see a standout difference in the ride. Through the nasty stuff your head was bobbing like a woodpecker with both sets of shocks. I guess the only thing that wasn't shown in the video was how you handled or the shocks handled the ride. I'd like to see what the difference is between the fox shocks and these guys.
Get Video comparison. In my opinion it looks like the CanAm was loosing some control with the MTS shocks, the rear end seemed to have drifted, compared to Shock Therapy. Another thing what camera did y’all have in the can am for such a steady shot.
The vehicle seemed much easier to control and smoother through the whoops with the Shock Therapy suspension. The MTS appeared to be a bit stiffer and even threw the vehicle kinda sideways at one point.
So my question is how long have you been riding with the st setup to get comfortable with it?? I know when I had my shocks done it took me a bit to adjust to the new feel
Great job Guys, I know its an old video. Both set ups are an improvement from stock set up. If the MTS set up was just a litttle softer it would have kept the car more planted. I doubt anybody would disappointed in either set up.
Funny because to my observations, the MTS set up appeared to need more high speed compression dialled in to reduce the amount of wheel travel being used on the whoops! It would be cool to see how your suggestion vs mine would actual impact the tests!
That's a good question! I do not believe MTS made a recommendation while here... ST just said to make sure all tires were even. We had 10lbs in all 4 for both cars
Have to agree with most of the comments that video show Shock Therapy as the best choice. My major problem with this video is that if you are going to do a company comparison, then both companies should have representatives there to support their products. As we all know there is a lot involved in setting up a shock, not just swapping them out. A rep from both companies should be allowed to fine tune there product to show a true final result.
I hear ya brother - And actually, Shock Therapy did offer to come out. I kindly suggested it could potentially cause some tension on the trail having two competing companies in the same location lol. They were ready to come out though!! We did work with them prior by sending them video to make sure they were satisfied with the way the cars handled (we actually didn't need to change the settings at all from how they sent them out).
It seems to me that anyone of the two would be a big improvement from stock. To be honest I did not hear much about MTS until recently and I’m on the west coast. Not sure if they are a new company, but I would have given them a hard look if I knew more about them when I was shopping around. That being said, the video to me, showed that Shock Therapy drove a slightly straighter line on the outside camera and less work on the steering on the inside camera. Everything else was damn close.
You saw what we felt! Shock Therapy was much easier to manage when the terrain got rough. I believe they are relatively new, yes. They contacted us to put their product against our purchase. Much respect for that!
Agreed. And the slow speed chop was improved over stock with MTS, but Keith reports ST was smoother.
Just curious who are going with i also was undecided.
Good job.
I'm a customer of MTS Offroad their customer service is second to none, they are constantly looking for ways to make their product better.
That's what I saw, he definitely was bouncing around more. The setup can take care of the rear wondering. The front mts looks to do better
OMG I only just met you but I think I love you
Just keeping it real my friend!
Love the "be polite" reminder. Great video. Love split view side by side comparison footage.
Thank you for the comment brotherman!
Nice work fellas! Great video. And super great attitude! I loved that the most. No bravado. And asking us to be cool was cool. Thanks guys!
Great video! bottom line here is both performed amazing, being in AZ and knowing MTS and their crew who come out to group events and support im probably biased, thanks for sharing this guys!
shock therapy is based in arizona as well. ive raced against there car up north a few times. im down in the valley
Safety tip- do not hold steering wheel with thumbs inside! I am an Orthopedic surgeon and have seen thumbs amputated from this.
thank you. great tip
Thanks 🙏
Always thumbs up when driving!! Great tip!
Mts has a long way to go before it becomes a realist option $1500 for suspension that makes the drive ward 2x harder than stock setup
I would say shock therapy would be winner on handling and drive stability and seemed to have better feedback. Jmho. Great video
MTS - $1500 for springs, Valving, No bypass mods
ST - $2100 for springs, Valving, Piston Mods, Bypass valving, Shaft mods.
Stated perfectly! Drive it like ya stole it... My dude!
Would be cool to see the same runs with the stock setup.
You're in luck! We have a stock vs Shock Therapy video! It's called, is shock therapy worth it
@@ftorvideo can you put a video together putting all three side by side
Some of that looked pretty spooky with the MTS , it's loose no questions about it , really good and informative video
Yea... Really agree. Keith lost confidence in the car with those shocks on
This is what seems weird to me.. after first watch I definitely saw the looser steering with mts.. but when I you watch the head and body movement for bounce inside the rzr, mts had less bounce it appears.
Because it was off the ground more, meaning less transferred energy to the driver but the tires werent maintaining contact.
Shayne - you're so much more well spoken than I am. I'd love to quote all your comments lol
LOL!!! FTOR you are more than welcome to quote me! Just don't tell them where you heard it from...:)
Great comparison. Love the impartial vid. Keep up the great content
The only thing we can't tell in this video is how they felt ? The MTS might look a little crazy outside of the car but his head looked like it was bobbing less...
To me the mts looked just a tad harsher. Would have been cool to see a jump/land comparison too. Good comparison tho like what ur doing!
For instance, if I needed some hands-on adjusting, I could get Greg or Nick from MTS on the phone and schedule in-person service within days;
In my experience, that’s just not going to happen with Shock Therapy.
Still, if you had a bad experience, that sucks - I hope you wrote a review as well
Nice job boys. Love your help setting up my 2018 X3 RC 72”
Happy we're able to help!!
Great video comparison guys. And great effort keeping it real and unbias.
Thanks for doing this I am looking to do the shocks and now I know which way to go!
Good job on that review to me they both seem pretty equal you can't go wrong with either one. Again thank you.
I have both and honestly MTS is what I will be doing moving forward. Shock therapy is not bad but MTS is my personal preference
I would like to know what was done to the shocks, was it just springs or did you send them in and have them and have them do the complete valving and all that the company does. the way they are set up on the car I think I have my choice of what was a better shock thank you, guys. I have not had my shocks done yet. this video helped out a lot in my choice.
Great comparison. Thanks for the work involved.
Thank you brother!
True
I read in a forum that when he shot that video with MTS he had a blown ball joint I'm not sure if that would make a difference but definitely something to consider
If you heard that, it was a lie. His ball joints were fine. One of the bolts on his passenger side tirod was lose.
Great video guys, just would have like to of known what each of the shocks did for the car as far as turning and jumping. Speed and time in the straight runs as well as some turns through the same section would have definitely helped to determine which shock is going to perform the best.
they both look good to me
I have a completely stock x3 and I'm a complete amateur.
Chris L why would you only buy springs, the better ride comes with the valving
I have talked to the guys at ST a bunch about products I have already purchased, as well as advice about what to purchase. Always willing to talk and give info.
Nice video! I couldn't really tell a difference. I have one of the company's setup on my X3 and it is a huge difference from stock!!!
Indeed both are a huge step up from stock!
My buddy just put the Shock Therapy on his new 2018 RZR 1000 what a difference it made.
They're both good and very close but yes I agree the Shock Therapy looked a little less harsh.
Both looked awesome! Can't go wrong with either set up
I think if a experience member of the shock therapy team was there to help adjust all the settings on the shocks it would have been a slightly more accurate comparison. That being said this is a great video, thanks for sharing.
Great testing, hard to pick one out. Would like to hear drivers opinion of the handling
Awesome vid and helpful side by side comparison!
Glad we could help brother!
Looked like they both went the same speed, but would be nice if you had real speed data. The shock therapy setup looked to track alittle straighter.
That is beautiful that they come out and did that I think more people should do that especially with the aftermarket parts sorry guys send in my shocks to shock therapy keep competing it’s a good thing
Very nice comparison I would suggest the company closest to you for follow up fine tuning.
That was cool. MTS seem like great people!
🤔🤷🏼♂️
I would love to see this with the new smart shox, those things are crazy good
Definitely it look like shock therapy one that test the X3 looks like it was in control at all times.
It’s clear the shock therapy keeps the car planted more. Did MTS do any adjustments while they were there?
Agreed. And yes.
Meaning the steering handling...
What would stock shocks do? That is what the real issuel is to me.
Hmmmm...I just got myself and the fam a 2020 xp4 1000...and was wondering....would it be lil more different if installing on 4 seater SXS?
Usually a 4 seat unit ends up being smoother than a 2 seater. You'd love it
@@ftorvideo Awesome. Thank you very much. Suspension will be the next thing to upgrade this year.
@@Str8Lthl Awesome man - let me know if we can help. We're now a Shock Therapy vendor and can get you their entire product line with free shipping
Smart way to do things keep sponsors happy
Yes sir! Not trying to step on anyone's toes. Just show the viewers the product and let them decide!
Why does the Shock Therapy shocks have that knocking noise when going over the whoops?
The knocking was present with both shocks and its because of a failing tie rod end. We actually resolved it in our video about Bump Steer
Get Video comparison. In my opinion it looks like the CanAm was loosing some control with the MTS shocks, the rear end seemed to have drifted, compared to Shock Therapy.
Another thing what camera did y’all have in the can am for such a steady shot.
Thanks for the comment! We had GoPro cameras mounted to the machine
The vehicle seemed much easier to control and smoother through the whoops with the Shock Therapy suspension. The MTS appeared to be a bit stiffer and even threw the vehicle kinda sideways at one point.
Your observations are aligned with what we experienced when testing each setup! Thanks for the comment!
So my question is how long have you been riding with the st setup to get comfortable with it?? I know when I had my shocks done it took me a bit to adjust to the new feel
This was our first ride out with them
Great job Guys, I know its an old video.
They both look pretty good but I think I'll lean to stock therapy. Didn't seem to walk around as much.
Good choice :)
Can you settle a debate? Is this the whoops section in tin cup trails south of Luther?
Not sure who's debating this lol... Yes, that's where it is
What tire pressures do they recommend on each design of shock?
That's a good question! I do not believe MTS made a recommendation while here... ST just said to make sure all tires were even. We had 10lbs in all 4 for both cars
Clear difference for sure
this just sold me on a set of ST car looked way better less sterring bump and way more planted
Only thing better would have been if you also showed stock. But great comparison nonetheless.
I don’t think the boys from MTS are gonna wanna hang out anymore lol
SHOCK THERAPY IS BEST IN THE NATION. AZ IS MY HOME SO ST IS NEAR BY
It seems to me that anyone of the two would be a big improvement from stock.
Plus on the Maverick X3 you don't get the full range of travel unless you run a 32 inch tire.
Cudos for a fantastic comparison.
I’d love to see this with KRX vs Talon
What's the price difference between the two apples to apples?
About $500 I believe
Looked like driver had a much easier time with the Shock Therapy setup.
Wow super close I couldn’t see much diff at all
