Moody Blues -- Nights In White Satin :: Lyrics :: Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I've written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I'd always missed with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore.
'Cos I love you, yes I love you, oh how I love you.
Gazing at people, some hand in hand,
Just what I'm going through they can't understand.
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end.
And I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I've written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I've always missed, with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore.
'Cos I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
'Cos I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.

The first band I ever saw in concert. 1996, I was ten years old and they had the full 50 piece behind them. I am an absolute sucker for a violin/Orchestra and I was blown away. It's amazing that they still sound just as good as when the music was released 50 years ago. THIS is music.

I was born in the early 70s. This song was a bit before me. As a child, this song sounded so HAUNTINGLY beautiful. A bit scary, but beautiful. That voice always got me emotional. Those lyrics (which I learned quickly)! And then their amazing band, and the orchestra that back up everything perfectly. I always had to lay down and close my eyes when listening to this song. The orchestral ending is perfection. 🤗

      Breathe deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy is spent
      Impassioned lovers wrestle as one;
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young
Cold-hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colors from our sight
Red is grey is yellow white
But we decide which is right

This song was out in 1967. The lead singer wrote the song after breaking up with a girl and was given white satin sheets as a gift and he put them in a suitcase travelling with him. The songs popularity comes from a time that Rock and Roll had strong Christian influences with songs like Stairway to Heaven and others. Many Christians love the song because it reminds them of a promise from the Lord but the song is heard "Knights(not nights) in white satin. When Jesus returns he comes on a white horse with a army of Angels and Saints all wearing white satin a fabric of purity. He comes to save the world from evil because he loves you! Makes me cry everytime I hear it.

Sitting in my den on this beautiful Sunday afternoon, my cocker spaniel at my feet and this song to bring back so many thoughts of my younger days with just beautiful orchestration, thank you for this beautiful peace in my day.

jerry n You can go to You tube and type in any song that you want and listen for free. You can even get songs from the thirties and fortieis. you'd be amazed what you can find on there.

juie anderson your very welcome Julie, I was watching the remake of "Halloween" by Rob Zombie with my granddaughter she loves all those Halloween movies and they played that song in it and it made me remember how much I used to like it many years ago lol so after the movie I went on here and found it the old version and a newer version and it is still a really great song.. take care julie..

It does have an eerie sound, which would be good those movies. I think the orchestra, in this clip, is awesome and makes the whole thing great!

juie anderson i Agree Great performance. I still can't forget the year the Moodies came to Peoria Il and performed with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra. Also a fantastic performance. just wish I could find a video tape of that performance so I could re-live that concert. I don't know if the Moody Blues havee a copy, but i would pay good money for it if they did. !!

These guys have aged well. They look well and they play well. They have a great deal of integrity as an act, as musicians and composers. I have great affection for them, and have since I was a bewildered high school sophomore
