I understand that this is your channel and you decide on the subject/music, but why not cater to the masses with more popular and better heavy metal “stuff” such as Joe Nichols singing “tequila makes her clothes fall off” (which reminds me of my sister), or Judy "Juice" Newton singing “queen of hearts” (my mother in law’s favorite song after three or four vodka martinis). Good start Nick. Be well.

Eloquent and charming as always, Nick. Anyone who disagrees with you will be hard pressed to meet your standard of oratory prowess.
I most certainly agree with your choice of Queen II, which is my favourite Queen album if I have to choose one, not in the least because of Ogre Battle.
Curiously, as much of an Iron Maiden as I was, I never owned Killers as a teen, though I had the T-shirt. I finally picked it up some ten years ago, but it has yet to take a deep and meaningful place in my heart. It might be simply because after purchasing that album and a few of the post reunion albums, I started to feel that Iron Maiden were sounding formulaic. Naturally, the second album should have been fresh and vibrant to my ears, but it lacks the progginess of the debut in my opinion, and I really love that about the debut. I do recognize, though, that Killers’ failure to land a high ranking in my collection is more a problem with me and not the album itself.
I really like your choice of LZII. The debut remains my favourite of theirs, however, I agree that II is the better record. Isn’t that funny? It’s more enjoyable to listen to from start to finish, and I love some of the bass and guitar sounds on the album. I have heard Whole Lotta Love quite enough, I think, and I keep Moby Dick as a listening experience only for when I play the whole album. But agreed, it’s an excellent choice.
Did you at all consider Sad Wings of Destiny? There are certainly many great albums that could have been on anyone’s list. Well done on your first official new channel video!

thank you Peter for your as ever thought provoking reply :-)
I think I hold Killers in such high regard after seeing Maiden the previous summer where they played some tracks from it prior to its release. I thought it more polished than the debut yet still raw and exciting enough. It left me wondering where the band would have gone had they not parted company with PdA??? (probably nowhere near as successful).
Of course SWOD is a fantastic second album. But I think the debut Rocka Rolla was simply not a great album in its own right, and following it was maybe not as "tricky" as the other choices. Of course, it's all subjective and if you love Rocka Rolla then SWOD is a shoe in for certain :-)

@@carefulwiththataxeeugene-fz2ek Well, you may well know that I actually do like Rocka Rolla. It's one of those looking backward debut albums that I sometimes talk about, where we hear where the band came from rather than where they were going.

I've never heard the phrase "tricky second album" Nick. Is it a common expression here across the Big Pond? I guess I'd have to research that myself. I'll be keeping tabs on this new channel of yorn, I'm guessing there's one genre that I'll probably not come across here. I wish I had more to say on the topic but I never dove that deep down the rabbit hole of musicology! So, just "be careful with the axe eugene" and I'll watch ya later! 🎸🎵🎸
