    Completely rebuilding a pole it makes sense they'd replace the transformer and use all new devices and fittings. I think a lot of people are surprised to learn that overhead utility lines are a whole engineered system and not simply wires nailed to a bunch of wooden sticks. It's designed on purpose for one or two spans to be completely out without affecting the integrity of the lines, and for the extra weight load to be carried by the rest of the system. Kind of cool when nice content happens right outside your house and all you've got to do is film it! Nice work as always, keep it up!

      Yeah absolutely not too surprised they replace the transformer as the 50 kVA did seem kind of small anyway I'm surprised they didn't do it all at once though as around six months ago they replaced cut out fuse with a new one with a new lightning arrester which wasn't in place before and they also ran a ground down the pole just surprised they redid all their work that they had just done six months ago and didn't do it all at once

      @@nics-systems-electric Yeah weird they didn't just delay those other repairs or do the whole pole earlier. Not surprised it's taller though. That seems to be a thing lately. They've slowly been replacing all the poles that carry primaries in my neighborhood and they're all much taller like that. Except here they're doing it faster, but putting the new poles in next to the old ones and it's kind of a mess. It's like they can't get the utilities to cooperate and all come out and deal with their lines at the same time so they have to do it in steps like this. And as if electric, cable and phone weren't enough, the city manages streetlights so they have to come put them back up with a firetruck after the electric utility takes them down to put up the new pole.

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  Рік тому +4

      @@marcberm that sounds like a mess I don't see the point of cities dealing with street lights when they don't pay for it anyways they're not metered here at least power company just deals with street lights but the cooperation with fibre and cable/phone is still not the best power company will hang it back up with a rope and then whoever is responsible for the phone lines comes back later for a permanent install

    • @marcberm
      @marcberm Рік тому +4

      @@nics-systems-electric The part with the fiber sounds about the same as this mess lol. When most municipalities around here converted to LED streetlights they took the opportunity to redraw the agreements between the city, power company, and sometimes third party management companies. The short of it is that at least in my city, the fixtures and replacement were free from the utility, if the city took over maintenance from there. The city happily agreed to that, assuming it'd be a piece of cake since LEDs are "practically maintenance free" figuring it would be a new era not like the old days of constantly changing old sodium/halide HID bulbs.

      Maybe the components like transformer and other things have been delayed for "crafted" because no transformer on they warhouse maybe and the workers maybe waiting deliver on they stock on there warhouse several possiblities can be considered 🤔😕🤷🏻‍♂️

      I mean you can get UPS's I have four in place just to keep the essential stuff going until the generator is started but from my experience UPS is are only good if there is a generator that is going to start they don't go long enough on their own they're OK for quick power bumps but otherwise they need to be backed up by a generator same with the one in my school which does the whole data Netwerk its output is 120/208 V at 40 A but it's only there to cover the 15 seconds at most until generator restores power
