    In Australia, each room has a flush mount speaker and the alert that goes into each room is an audio signal… the main panel has a microphone and you can talk to the whole building using the mic… there is also an “Alert tone” which sounds like your tone, then after a few mins a separate “Evac Tone” with an actual voice asking people to evacuate. . This video is our alert tone, followed by evac: ua-cam.com/video/a0l2RNYas00/v-deo.html

    The reason the generator switchover wasn’t clean was because after it started it started to shutoff right as the transfer switch switched over but then the generator came back to life and then it was fine after if you listen at 11:09 you can hear it start to shut off.

      Yes I'm aware of that that part is pretty obvious. it's trying to figure out what the reason is that it didn't fully start. Possibly wasn't given enough time before load was transferred especially being on Eco mode so RPM was low.

    You should run some CAT6 or CAT5e around your house so you could place access points everywhere and have fast internet speeds, even if you don't have fast internet, you can still use the speed to transfer files across the network. Just buy a small rack, maybe 4-6 rack spaces and get some patch panels and switches. That's how I set my network up on the cheap and it's working well for me, even allows you to add poe cameras and servers or a NAS. Not sure about prices on the island but here on the mainland it's pretty cheap and easy to retrofit. I have no regrets, except for not getting a rackmount router, that would be pretty nice.

    You should have a delay on the ATS you shouldn't have it swap as soon as power is detected, gives the generator a chance to warm up. Your putting a load on it before the generator has a chance to idle to speed.

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes and no because it's never happened before and the generator itself doesn't switch on its power until it's at speed. I could slow down my entire set up by putting a time delay relay on the coil to the generator power contactor and give it a few extra seconds would slow down the total time however

  • @falsernet
    @falsernet 7 місяців тому

    Never been a fan of mesh networks. If you aren't sure, a mesh network relies on wireless connections between access points. And you still have to power them so at that point I'd just use PoE with a star topology.
    You can achieve the 'one network' thing without having to switch on your devices just by matching the SSID and passwords. You may intermittently run into a common issue where devices get 'stuck' on one access point. I believe Ubiquiti's APs have a 'fast bss' setting which mitigates this, and other APs have other names for it such as fast/seamless roaming. This feature obvs depends on matching the brand, and really it's just a cope for our devices being badly designed, as they don't have preference for faster WiFi signals.
    Don't let anyone knock your generator as it's more than the vast majority of people have achieved, you're just making the best of the resources you have. I love how seamlessly it works. Also I respect you using Windows 7, probably my all time favorite OS.

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  7 місяців тому

      I guess I use the wrong terminology is what I meant by a mesh network is where all access points are wired back to a switch but you don't have to manually change which access points your device is connected to as you move around the building maybe the name is a roaming network where it will automatically pick up the strongest signal

    • @beningledew2002
      @beningledew2002 7 місяців тому

      @@nics-systems-electric i can highly recommend ubiquiti access points, i would get a cloudkey though as the cloudkey is what makes roaming around between access points more seamless, its constantly checking the connection strength and moves you between points for optimal connection.

    I have a question for you. I had an MS 9600UDLS demo system. It had three smoke detectors and two modules. Unfortunately the 9600udls had a power supply issue. The screen would flicker off and on rapidly and the system was flooded with AC fault and Restoral signals. After this happened all three of my sd365 smoke detectors randomly went off into alarm or dirty detector trouble. My question is this. Is it possible the 9600udls damaged my 3 sd365s? If I use these same smoke detectors on a new addressable panel, would that be OK? I'm worried that the 9600udls damaged these detectors. Also, is it possible if the detectors are damaged that they could damage the new SLC on the new panel? I know that this is a long question so thank you.

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  7 місяців тому

      I can't say for sure if it would have damaged the detectors or not. if it caused some sort of strange overvoltage on the SLC it's possible. But I wouldn't be worried about putting them on a new system to try them out. worst-case scenario they won't work. There is overcurrent and short circuit protection on SLC loops. I would've killed many many systems by now if they didn't. But if you were still worried about it for your own comfort you could put an isolator module in first that way you'll know if they are going overcurrent.
