Welcome aboard, this man is a treasure.
Welcome friend, C'mon in!
@@thecapn-tn9yh Welcome friend. 🍺👍
Yay!
This will be one of the best decisions of your life 😊
I'm just here to watch 👀 Malcolm smoke his pipe🌬 Speak on stories with some Christian undertones and symbolism🙏 Hallelujah!
It is a joy isn't it?
@@mywargoneby Absolutely. His voice helps a lot
I had always associated Aslan's table breaking in two with the tearing of the temple veil in two when Christ was crucified. I hadn't thought of the tablets given to Moses.
Interesting!
It probably refers to both, just as both are connected in Scripture.
Those stone tablets are often referred to as ‘the tables of the law’ and of course what is written on the stone table is the law of punishment for a traitor -the deep magic’ of Natural Law but salvation by Christ/Aslan’s sacrifice is grace ‘a deeper magic from before the dawn of time’
Always a pleasure, today was a beautiful day, a lovely preview for Autumn, so I sat outside and read and relaxed. It was lovely. Peace ✌🏻 and God Bless 🙏🏻
Beautiful weather here in Virginia as well
I’m so happy I found your channel. It’s given me a lot of peace
How in the World can someone give this a thumbs down?!? Viewers have that right, and more power to them, but Why? Malcolm is such a wonderful person, shining his light into his pipe and thru the rest of us. Cheers Malcolm - 'May the hair on your toes never fall out' - Hobbit Maxim
I can’t even describe how thankful I am I discovered this channel. Always delightful!!
Welcome aboard
My cigar time companion.
Thank you sir for the discussion.
We each have the stone blade, one to wield and one to be held against us.
The power to save ourselves, the power to fell our foes.
Psalms 44:5 - 7 come to mind
You leave a Catholic speechless! Thank you for emphasizing the connections to Christianity within these author’s works. God bless you and your family, Mr. Guite.
Loved every minute of this wonderful eve.❤
I just finished rereading Dawn Treader. One of my favorite books in the Narnia series. Eustace is a very interesting character and probably my favorite, probably because of and in spite of his flaws. It's amazing to read these books because I really do wish we had gotten more adventures from Lewis. There's a lot he alluded to that we never got stories for, like how the Lone Islands became part of Narnia and where the other people in the world outside of Narnia came from or the intervening years between Silver Chair and the Last Battle. Still, I'll always treasure these books and always be amazed that many of these books, despite being quite short, often feel much longer than they are. Lewis is quite amazing in that way.
Was asked just the other day, who would you have narrate your life? Most said Morgan freeman, and a fantastic voice that would be. As for myself, the only name that came to my mind was Malcolm Guite. Would be a wonderful and expressively passionate tale told in the perfect way.
Always good to see you
Awesome channel books and solid pipe tobacco reviews, I have yet to get a pipe but when I retire maybe. For now it is cigars . Love this channel . Books, tobacco & pints simply great .
love the videos. you sir, have a fantastic voice!
Thank you kindly!
Such a great reading and commentary. Thank you! We always join you with our glass of wine
Amen! What great truth! The Lamb reigns victorious!
Ahhhh the mention of LORE. Touchè, i wish the directors and producers of current fantasy entertainment would adhere to.....LORE.
I could listen to you read the stories of Narnia and the LotR all day. Such a soothing voice. Also I love listening to poetry and philosophy so hearing your explanations or references to everything is so nice to hear.
Glad you like them!
Who we are and what we are made of... brilliant by Lewis and your drawing it out again is marvellous. I think it's time for me to read the Narnia stories again.
The Dawn Treader is such a marvelous novel. It flies under the radar of the Narnia books because people approach it like a swashbuckling adventure story, and they really miss the beauty and allegory of it of the whole Christian life.
Yes indeed
You sir are an incredible gift to humanity. Your videos and passage reading are fascinating. Cheers!
Glad you like them!
@@MalcolmGuitespell i am absolutely honored that you'd reply! God bless you Malcolm!
Salus animarum suprema lex - “are you thirsty said the lion?”
you know it's autumn when we start cosing doors to keep out the draughts!!
As a boy (im 50 now) I loved the maps at the back? of these books and used to laboriously copy them on sheets of paper with a biro in my mums kitchen. Then I'd , under her watch, burn off the odd corner, splatter a bit of candle wax on them and soak in cool tea and leave to dry as a fun actvity! Im glad I had that sort of childhood . Recently I found the entire set of Narnia books , just like the ones I had then and I bought them straightaway ,I can tell you!
Wonderful
Hi from Bolivia!
One of the many parts of the Narnia books that made me long to be there and experience it
Yes me too! Thanks for your support
Indeed, brilliant! If we are more than what we are made of then why can't stars be more than what they are made of. It's not what stars are made of, it's what they are. Exactly...
The stuff you're made of vs what you are 🤯. Thank you
Thank you sir, once again, for your insights! I just finished my reread of Narnia except for the Last Battle and always look forward to your sharing sections with us! Good bless!
“In our world," said Eustace, "a star is a huge ball of flaming gas."
Even in your world, my son, that is not what a star is, but only what it is made of.”
Your reading of profound texts like these and then addressing them with us is a privilege. The truth of this passage brought chills.
I've been doing a deep dive of all of the visits to your home and I really love the nods to the ever present Arthurian journey you are on whilst making these videos. If you haven't already, I would love to hear passages and your thoughts on the legendary sword Excalibur.
Thank you for the lore and wisdom!
Thanks. I haven’t got to Excalibur yet in my retelling but I’ll be sure to read it out when I do
@@MalcolmGuitespell I very much look forward to that, thanks for all that you do!
Brilliant read and talk, thank you for sharing.
Hearing you read it gives me more understanding of it!! Blessing from Mississippi
Im starting to visit you regulary :)
Good Morning 😊 Awesome Video👌🏽 Great Chat and Reading 👏🏼 Have a Wonderful Day and Greetings From South Africa 🇿🇦
Camping in the Badlands tonight. Staring up at the stars. Wondering what they could be.
Quit smoking cigarettes like 5 months ago. Watching this makes me wanna smoke pipe now
May the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ shine into our darkness and shed light on our hearts. May it bring joy and warmth into a darkened world full of color.
Very interesting. Fantastic line that, and thought provoking, about the make-up of a star, and your description of us as human beings. Thank you, sir.
Thank you kindly
I hadn't made that connection to the Prophets before. Always a pleasure to learn from you, Master Guite. I'd love to know the truth regarding form and essence, the metaphysical dimension behind the measurable accidents of things. The trouble is, it's not as though the physical dimension is irrelevant. After all, the abstract essence of a knife isn't much use for cutting vegetables. But the essence of a thing can't just be it's function, as function is even more external than material. Certainly, a person cannot be reduced to a single function.
We need both essence and ‘accidence’ as the philosophers named the stuff we are made of
Beautiful

I hope that BOSS tremolo pedal is being used and not just sitting in the box. Ha!
Although I disagree with you. I always love to hear you read and delight in literature.
Just a thought...with the touching of the stone blade the enchantment started. In 2 Samuel chapter 6 Uzzah touched the ark and was struck dead instantly. Perhaps Lewis had this in mind but toned it down a little :)
Beautiful read another flawless passage. I do have a question are there any modern books that capture the same narnian, hobbit , arthurian legend like spirit ?
Try Susanna Clarke
Thank you! This was so beautiful...
We appreciate what you shared with us and thank you both for your efforts. 💕 💙
Or the olive branch brought by the dove for a new beginning

Malcolm should be the prime minister of the UK
Smoking a pipe is a great pleasure that I enjoy with friends while doing ww1 re-enactments, superb way to use tobacco
Mr. Lewis (and you!) appear to be recalling your Blake, from his passage at the end of "vision of the last judgment": "I assert for myself that I do not behold the outward creation, and that to me it is hindrance and not action. "What!" it will be questioned, "when the sun rises, do you not see a round disc of fire somewhat like a guinea?" Oh! no, no! I see an innumerable company of the heavenly host, crying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty!" I question not my corporeal eye any more than I would question a window concerning a sight. I look through it and not with it."
Yes. I cite that very passage in my book Faith, Hope, and Poetry
Thankyou for a fabulous reading, and musing on the stuff of life. Was it Screwtape or Surprised by Joy where Lewis talks more deeply about science and the pitfall of mistaking the appearance and consistency of things in this world for their essence?
Or it might be Pilgrims Regress I am recalling.
I think he also discusses that in Miracles
Out of curiosity, what are your favourite pipe tobaccos/ ones you smoke
Kendall Black Cherry and Peterson’s Deluxe Navy Rolls
Jesus last supper table was cs lewis meaning of aslam table
The symbolic breaking of the bread hence breaking of the table
7:58 - is that a reference to the Island of Birds from The Voyage of Saint Brendan the Abbot?
Yes. The voyages of St. Brendan is a major source but significantly Lewis reverses the direction from West to East
@@MalcolmGuitespell That’s very interesting - thank you!
That is a beautiful pipe! is it a Peterson?
Yes a silver spigot
Hi Malcom I really enjoy these videos ! I've read theories on the internet that the tales of Narnia is a reference to the bible that would make the great Aslan in to Jesus.. that's just really disappointing does this hold any truth?that would just spoil it for me and my amazing childhood memories of my mother reading me the Chronicles of narnia as bedtime stories ..
Does anyone know what Peterson pipe that is?
Silver Spigot
@@MalcolmGuitespell thank you!
Thank you.
